In light of Carolee's recent booting from Broadway Star Survivor (thanks a lot!), I wanted to post an appreciation thread for one of Broadways brightest, most Versatile performers. We love you Carolee!!!
I adore Carolee. She is always wonderful in any show. She has moved me to tears on more than one occasion.
Moved to tears? Which shows MEF?

I think she is wonderful. I have never seen her perform live, but I love her on the CDs of Parade and john&jen. What a voice.
I'd add Elegies as well.
And what about Mamma Mia?...
Oh, yeah, I turned on the waterworks heavy during her rendition of "Anytime (I Am There)". God, I adore her.
I loved her in Mamma Mia. She can transform almost anything into art.
I just bought 2 of the Jay Musicality cds (Sondheim/Kander and Ebb), just for Carolee. She does great versions of Broadway Baby and Cabaret.

The best Mrs. Anna (King and I) that I've seen.
This was at Paper Mill Playhouse about two seasons ago.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I love Carolee - a recent convert!! I must say, "Anytime" moved me to tears as well.... And her version of "Broadway Baby" is amazing! I was able to see her live in Mamma Mia about a month ago, and she was absolutely fantastic - her energy on stage is simply something to behold.
Not to mention, she is a total sweetheart....She is not only a gifted performer, but a genuinely nice person, which makes it even better.
I'm always too scared to meet her, one of those, "don't want her to crush the illussions I have about her", kind of things.
Yes, her version of "Anytime" is amazing. I think "Tom" from Hello Again is probably best thing I've heard her do
You should definitely try to meet her, Bobby. She is the epitomy of sweetness.
Really? Cool. I was worried it would be the opposite, as I have this fear of my heros turning out to be raving bitches. Maybe I'll go to the stage door after Mamma Mia, one day when I'm in town.
I've never had a performer affect me emotionally as much as her.

She is fabulous! And I hear she is very nice, but I've never met her.
I do wish she was in a better show, though...
She is completely worth going to Crappy Mia again. Her 2 supporting ladies are also quite good.
Carolee is apparently an ABSOLUTE sweetheart (this coming from the mouth of an asst. MD on one of her shows). Everyone loves her.
Adding up that pretty face, those gorgeous, emotional pipes...well, what a package. Hard not to love her! She's up there with my favorite non-diva divas!
I totally second that Carolee's performance is worth seeing that pile of crap MAMMA MIA for.
And she is delightful and loves to receive her fans at the stage door.
I have only had the chance to see her once, in a production of "The King and I" at the Papermill. She was absolutely fabulous! I'd love to see her perform again!
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but-
Do people go to the stage door if they haven't seen the show that night? Is that considered rude? I'm not going to see Mamma Mia again when I come in May but would love to say hi to Carolee.
Bobby, I just wouldn't say anything. How are they going to know? Drop by, say hi, have her sign something, take a photo, leave.

I'm sure you saved your playbill from when you saw the show. Bring it with you and act like you just caught a performance. Bwaysinger makes some good points, as well.
Good idea. I always read about the Wicked people going to the stage door constantly, even when they don't see the show that night, and I always thought that was a bit rude. But I'm not really going to stalk her--yet...
