I am going into the city tomorrow with a fellow Broadway World member (very excited). I am a poor -recently graduted colelge student. I know you have to get tere extremely realy for Spamalot. I was wondering what shows you would recommend and also shows that have a good chance of winning the lotto or rush. thanks!
Neal
Chicago and Sweet Charity have a rush. They are great shows. Check them out. I would imagine the lotteries for the popular shows would be hard to win.
Piazza
ALL SHOOK UP (GO!)
DRS
Wicked
Avenue Q
Spamalot- the chances of you getting in soon are really slim, theres a rediculous waiting list.
From what I hear, the Rent lottery is one of the easiest to win, so you might want to check that out. It would definitely fit your price range.
I would reccommend seeing Piazza or DRS... they are both OBC right now, and Piazza is ending on January 1st, so I don't know how often you go to NYC. I would see it, or DRS, which I mentioned earlier. It has a cast of 4 tony-nominated people and looks very funny.
RENThead, enLIGHist, Ozalot, Grobanite, Ringer, Pickwick LW, Wicked, Lost, American Dreams, West Wing
Lea S. Hugh J. Adam P. Idina M. Matt M. Taye D.
Drs and Piazza and All shook up have casts chocked full of talent, Norbert leo butz, john lithgow, sherie renee scott , Kelli o'hara, matthew morrison (aka sexy father of my children), and victoria clark are good too, and in all shook up, Cheyenne Jackson and Jenn Gambatese are amazing and the whole cast of asu is amazing, i get goosebumps everytime i listen to it.
Also Shosana Bean is amazing in wicked.
DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS or SPELLING BEE - the 2 best new musicals of Last Season!
You can get $20 Piazza tickets from Studentix...

Go see Piazza and/or DRS. Obviously, I would reccommend Piazza over DRS, but jimmy, Matt is the father of my children not yours

Wicked i feel like is impossible to win lotto for...
i would suggest you try Spelling Bee and Charity.
Well, not COMPLETELY impossible, obviously, because people are nabbing those front row seats every night.

Your best chance at a discount is getting SRO for Spelling Bee in the morning. It's absolutely worth it. The Avenue Q lottery is pretty crowded, as is Speling Bee's. The other two shows have student rush, and your chances will be good if you come on a weekday morning.

And may I recommend a play? You're almost sure to get rush tickets to Virginia Woolf, and it's absolutely worth it.
oh that's a good idea. and the play line is always very short at TKTS if you want to hit up plays with your student budget!
Off-Broadway stuff is good too...::coughcoughALTARBOYZcough::
Surprised you haven't plugged it yet, Juliet.
I have the great pleasure of spending tomorrow afternoon with akitarent and I'm rooting for Piazza so keep the Piazza votes coming in party people!
DRS would be good too but Norbert is out this week. Ain't no way I'm seeing DRS without Norbert.
Guys, I think that there's going to have to be some sort of duel to see whos baby's daddy Matt is. You might have to fight with akitarent for Matt if we see Piazza, lol.
::slap:: I challenge you betty
haha aigoo! thanks for plugging for me but Altar Boyz doesn't do shows on Wednesdays (tomorrow)! i actually wrote a mini plug about it and then realized Akita/Neal said "tomorrow" LOL!
but if you're staying longer, HIT UP ALTAR BOYZ for $21 flat (general rush 2 hours before the show) it's where i go after Wicked rejects me.
