Whenever I rewind a song in a cast recording of mine to a certain part, I always discover that a little moment of a song can sound great when played backwards. I sometimes find myself playing a particular moment in a cast recording just so I can rewind it and listen to it backwards.

Some examples:

"But I'll only have one life, not two" from Aspects of Love sounds great backwards.

Numerous little moments on Les Miz make me want to cry when played backwards. Little moments in showtunes that sound great when played backwards

What are some of yours, if any?

I don't think I've ever played anything backwards, but now I'm curious!

I listened to Over the Moon backwards.. it's REALLY freaky. It sounds like a satanic chant.

Most of my friends think it is insane that I mess around with my recordings like that, but one song that I really enjoy backwards is "Role of a Lifetime" from Bare. Also, if you take it down two keys, Michael Arden sounds like Josh Groban.

I knew a girl who played her "Lennon" bootleg backwards and it said "I buried Paul."

And then she died.

yankeefan007: How I do it is that I put in a CD in my CD player. When I get to a moment, I press the button that lets you skip from song to song. I play my CDs backwards by holding the backwards button down. Then, you can play something backwards. I hope that helps.

Well there is that segment in teh first act finale of STEEL PIER when the hero reverses time and the orchestra literally plays a few bars backwards. (On the OCR it does dound like they are playing a tape backwards.)

Years ago there were rumours of satanic messages back-tracked into rock albums. I think its more the power of suggestion. A friend insisted that if you played "Another one bites the dust" backwards they were saying "It's fun to smoke marijuana." Well, I was in a radio station then and we played it backwards and it said: "tsud eht setib eno rehtonA."

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I remember playing the title song of Phantom backwards a long time ago...it was kind of exciting actually. Haven't tried anything else, though.

"If there is going to be a restoration fee, there should also be a Renaissance fee, a Middle Ages fee and a Dark Ages fee. Someone must have men in the back room making up names, euphemisms for profit." (Emanuel Azenberg)

The title theme to POTO backwards sounds like the music from Defying Gravity when she's rising.

WHY do I know this?

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...
