Hmm now should I camp out near Macy's to see the parade and performances or should I just watch it on TV?
The reason I am considering camping out is because this will probably be my last thanksgiving in New York for a while and it might be a cool experience. A couple years ago I saw the parade at like 70th St and Central Park West and it was fun, but we didn't get to see any of the shows or marching bands do thier performances.
Has anyone done the camping out thing before? Would you recommend it? Is there any chance I could get close enough to see the performances?
I also remember Kristin Chenoweth singing "Oklahoma"! It wa amazing. I don't know who were the other single performers. I am excited for Brian this year though!! :)
I remember seeing Wicked on it.
Yeah, Shoshana and Megan did For Good. But it was one of those performances that wasn't actually in the parade.
No in 2003 they performed One Short Day. I also remember Little Shop The Boy From Oz and Never gonna dance.
this year is a yawn. i wish they would do some upcoming shows.

To reiterate courtnyj's question, has anyone ever gone down there before, and how was it? I have a few relatives coming from out of town and they'd like to go (and drag me!). So...anybody?

I have watched the parade at Macys and uptown. Macys can get pretty packed and you have to stand on the next block so you see the performances from an extreme angle. Remember that down there it is not a parade it is a TV studio. The performers come out of their trailers perform and leave.
Most of the performances happen while the actual parade is making its way downtown. Up town (I usually stand at 50th street) you get to see the parade but no performances. The year we went to Macys it was cold and rainy so we froze our butts off and we had to wait forever for the parade to reach us. We arrived there around 7am and it wasn't too crowded yet. You certainly don't need to camp out overnight. If you're there at 5 or 6am or so you will be right up front.
Hope this helps.

Ok, since I live outside of Detroit, we only get to see the stupid Detroit parade and I always miss Macy's. I REALLY want to see A Chorus Line and I'm interested in the other shows as well. If someone could tape this, I would gladly make it worth your while. Please PM me :).
