I think this is a great show for kids, with a great message, but I think I'd check it out just to see hottie Lee Meads shirtless. Did anyone check the pictures? Bombay Dreams' Preeya Kalidas stars as the Narrator.
"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one".

As fun and colorful as the production looks...isn't it an exact carbon copy of the mid-90's version that Donny Osmond starred in, and that all the big tours were copied after? Same costumes, same staging, same everything.
Donny Osmond and Patrick Cassidy wouldn't get me to see this show again, but Lee Mead, hell yes!

No, Josh Strickland is a top notch performer and cute, but no way I'd take him over Lee. I like smooth chests better! But hey, hairy is good too.

You mean the guy that was in Piazza? God no, I saw him in the tour and he was totally miscast.

I don't care if he arm-pit farted the whole score, nothing about the above picture says "miscast" to me...
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

Oh, he looks good in that pic, I just don't care for his singing.

WHile I think you're insane for prefering smooth chests if that's the deciding factor, simply get Josh to shave :P
It is kinda disappointing that (set changes or not) this does seem to be essentially the same 90s production I thought everyone had seen, or had theopportunity to see a zillion times--that was fun but nothign brilliant. I sw the Canadian tour with Donny Osmond who I remember actually being quite good as much as I don't care for him
This looks nothing like the (horrible) original 90's production to me. Sure, Joe's coat is sort of similar-- but it's as different as a "Coat of many colors" could be. The other costumes and set looks totally different to me.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
If you watched this joseph.. you'd see that andrew lloyd webber is showing Bill Kenwright how to do joseph properly.. did joseph for 3 years and the set never got any better.! lol .. the uk touring set was 'almost' a carbon copy of the New london set only slightly better without blow up sheep.....yes really.
Lee has been understudying Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s), understudying and playing Chris in Miss Saigon (tour), The Lover and understudying the title role in The Who’s Tommy (tour), Pharaoh in our tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (tour and West End), singer/ dancer in My Pal Frank – the life story of Frank Sinatra (Westcliff Palace), principal role of The Captain in the ballet Pineapple Poll (Chelmsford Civic), Wishee Washee in Aladdin and lead vocalist for summer season 2003 (Bridlington Spa) and singer/dancer for P&O Cruises. Also, Laurence in Mike Leigh’s classic Abigail’s Party.
The sets and costumes are exactly the same as the Steven Pimlott directed productions that popped up all through out the 90's in London, LA, Canada, New York, and finally on to DVD with Donny Osmond. The only differences aside from the logo seem to be the additional reprise of "Close Every Door" and the new song "King of My Heart".
If you go onto josephthemusical.com you can see more photos. I think the Adelphi looks way too small for the production... for this particular production it has to be big and a complete specticule! And I HATE the new narrator & Pharaoh costumes! The new narrator costumes looks like they come from Baby Jane's in Jerry Springer The Opera! I miss those jackets with white/black strips and also the really glittery one... have to admit though... the design were abit 90s

I still have my program of the Canadian tour and all the costumes are exactly the same down to Potphar's wife having the black and white outfit that shows her breasts with pasteys on them and the weird 60s/90s go go dancers. *exactly* Was there another production?
and Ljay--great post, I love how excited people here sometimes are and willing to justify spending 100 bucks on a show they migth not want to otherwise just to see a guy take off his shirt
It makes sense to me. If there was a show I didn't like and did not want to see, but then I found out one of my favorite actors was going to be in it I would want to then go and see it anyway. Why should it be any different if the actor is taking his shirt off too? That's just icing on the cake.
I guess I just need a bit more incentive Plus I'm not exactly rolling in the money right now so really could only afford to see shows I wanted to see--not ones I didn't but liked one of the actors--but ya it's relative. Carry on
I'm with you Eric. I don't have money to waste just to see a shirtless guy. If all I want to see is a shirtless guy, I will watch some porn - thank you.
