Love the idea of Bergen. I love Walsh, but I'm having a hard time seeing her as Desiree. Thankfully she is the correct age though. I hate when they do Grandma Desiree.
I am also pleased/surprised that Berry is going to play Petra. At this point in her career you would think she would want to play Anne (which she has played before). But, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to hearing her interpretation of "The Miller's Son."
Prolly better than Ebersole can sing Desiree or Margo Channing.
- I don't get what you're trying to say, but if anything - Ebersole is too overqualified to sing Desiree. It's a VERY simple singing part. So I imagine Ebersole AND Walsh will try to "sing" it more than the non-singing Desirees (Johns, Simmons, Dench, etc). But maybe that's what you're trying to say, Ebersole has a better voice than the role is called for. Updated On: 2/15/08 at 02:58 PM
I really cannot see Walsh as Desiree, AT ALL. Ebersole makes a lot more sense in the role to me. Neither would excite me if they starred in a full-blown Broadway revival though. I do agree that Berry seems more appropriate for Anne rather than Petra, simply because Anne is the beefier role. I wish I had seen Berry play Anne before, she's great.

I'm definitely going to see this! However I misread it wrong when I first saw the article. I thought Bergen was going to be Desiree. Oh well, it still sounds like it'll be a great production! But Walsh as Desiree...hmm...I'm sure it'll be great either way, but if Bergen were ever to play Desiree...well..I'd faint. :)

I thought they meant Bergen as Desiree too. But that would be impossible. Bergen is almost 78 years old. Desiree has a young daughter. Judi Dench was "technically" too old for the role when she played it.
Haha, I wouldn't mind a 78 year old Desiree, but I'm probably in the minority. :) I still think she'd give all of the other Desiree's a run for their money!

Yeah haha, I'm sorry - a 78 year old Desiree is just plain SCARY. I don't care who it is. Would Carl Magnus still cheat on Charlotte with a Grandma? Updated On: 2/15/08 at 05:44 PM

Haha, probably not. Well, I mean only a non-sensible man wouldn't cheat on Charlotte with Polly, but then again Count Magnus isn't very sensible.
