My daughters had booked a hotel room in DC for the inauguration, so to say they are distraught is an understatement. One of them had her mood lifted quite a bit when she the Hamilton lottery for today's matinee. My wife is attending with her.

Stock Markets are surging to record!

U.S. equities rose Wednesday, putting the Dow Jones industrial average within striking distance of a record high, after a stunning victory by Republican Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.

The Dow rose more than 300 points in the afternoon, on track to close at a record high and about 25 points below its all-time intraday high. Caterpillar and Goldman Sachs contributed the most to gains.
