Let it go, PJ. Time to accept your girl is not as progressive or forward-thinking on equality and gay rights as you'd like to believe. You betray every other homosexual, including me, when you attempt to defend her disgusting bigotry and deceptively contradicting views on this issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maEvJQBJH4s

Delete. I received the same passionate and empowering emails that PalJoey did, posted above. It speaks for itself, and Clinton's stand.

But who cares right?!?! Life is cabaret old chum! We can survive the rise of fascism most likely. Sure why not!

Lavieboheme - your response implies that my valid criticism of HRC's longstanding, and well-documented, history of objecting to equality for all is somehow an endorsement for the abhorrent fascist known as Donald Trump. Sorry, my dear, but I am for Gary Johnson this election cycle. He will reach the 15% needed to get on that debate stage and on the ballot. I look forward to seeing the genuine and sincere rationale he brings to this clusterf*ck.
Well, have fun with that. The rest of us have real work in the real world to do.
Also, "You betray every other homosexual"
Listen here queen Liza. Nope, stop with this bull. No has anointed you the head of this moment and no one ever will.
This attack had nothing to do with ISIS. Nothing. Yet HRC took it there. This is nothing more than lubing up her war boner.
Can a nation have any hope for its citizens ceasing violent death among its people when its leaders are more than happy to spread violence and death elsewhere in the world? This is an awful tragedy, but its really kitty scratch compared to the bloodshed in Palestine. You can say a lot about Orlando, but "Our tax dollars paid for this" ain't one of them.
A few years ago, ISIS operated by bringing resources into the Middle East, then sending them back to their homeland to commit terror. Recently, they changed their MO to encourage potential terrorists to stay in place, make no travel or contact, and conduct terror on their own, choosing soft targets and not expressing their allegiance to ISIS until they strike. Several recent attacks have followed this track.
Despite whatever you choose to say about her, Hillary Clinton will STILL be the most progressive American president of your lifetime, the most progressive American president since Franklin Roosevelt.
And nothing you can do or say--not even invoking boners & lube--can make that not be so.
It probably won't surprise anyone that I'm not a fan of Clinton or of Trump. I assume I'll be voting for Gary Johnson, who won't demonize Muslims or people who want to own certain types of guns, and who will seek to moderate US-led violence overseas. And if he fails to meet my expectations on any of this, I won't vote for him, either. I live in a very non-swing state (Maryland), so no one has to worry about my vote messing anything up.
That being said, I'm going to be saving all of my anger and criticism for those who support Donald Trump. His ideas and his rhetoric put him in a different category from the run-of-the-mill terrible politician that I've become used to. His response to the Orlando attack only makes this all the more obvious. Also, the more I think about it, the more I see a close connection between Trump's anti-Muslim rhetoric and the attacks in Orlando and San Bernardino. None of his policies would have stopped them, but it's people like him and his supporters whose words and attitudes cause radicals to emerge from the otherwise moderate background of American Islam.
I'm going to be having some hard conversations with friends and family members in the coming months.
Obama is on TV right now giving a very strong speech about Orlando, terrorism, Trump, and America.
I use gross imagery because its completely gross.
This resonates: " if you blame ISIS for “inspiring” such attacks, the fact remains that there are any number of extremist ideologies that a deranged would-be killer could derive inspiration from — and you cannot bomb them all. if you blame ISIS for “inspiring” such attacks, the fact remains that there are any number of extremist ideologies that a deranged would-be killer could derive inspiration from — and you cannot bomb them all."
Both of our scummy candidates blew it. BOTH of them.

I think she mentioned everything she could including reinstating the assault weapons ban. She was infinitely better than Trump. It's upsetting to me also that I'm going to have to vote for this person but this thread is about the path to victory over Trump.
^Hope we're an old friend.
Obama's speech was magisterial.

Agreed! How will the GOP respond?
To anyone who watched Obama's and Clinton's speeches today and opts to cast votes for Johnson or the miscreants' default poster child, Jill Stein, good luck securing the utopia of your fantasies. Many of the rest of us see the high stakes in further enabling Trump's ascendancy -- yes, even by vowing to withhold a vote that might deliver a blow to him in the electoral college -- and will act responsibly.
Again, there's no chance whatsoever that my vote for Johnson will deny Clinton the presidency. In general, Maryland's in the bag for the Democratic candidate. If somehow Maryland is in play, then the Republican is going to win.
My vote is not going to secure any utopia, I realize, but it's not going to cause anything horrible, either.
With all due respect, please articulate what your vote will do. What a non-determinative embrace of an also-ran named Johnson will contribute to improving your life, your family's and friends, and/or make the country and culture better, safer, more egalitarian? What beyond the moment of pulling the lever and achieving the instant gratification of refuting a two-party system? I think that's what many of us who've seen the Andersons, Poirots and Naders et al fly under the radar, draw attention and disappear, want to know. Third party votes self-present as a deeply personal moral decision; but if withholding a vote that blocks a fascist who could stack SCOTUS, roll back reproductive, health care and other hard-won rights isn't an option, how does your moral compass -- serving more than the immediacy of a protest vote -- serve you?
Dan Savage is about to talk to Chris Hates about Trumps new "I'm great for the gays". This should be good.
Meanwhile...new Poll has Clinton up 12 points over Trump--with 55% of Americans saying they would NEVER vote for Donald Trump.

It's my vote, and I'll be voting for the person I think is the best candidate - it's as simple as that. I do understand the need for strategic voting in some cases, and that might well come into play for me if I lived in Ohio, Florida, or Virginia. But in Maryland, I see little reason to choose the lesser of two evils.
