I agree about the HS scene. I had my eyes closed for the majority of it, felt a huge pit in my stomach...brutal. The end, with Violet and Tate, was especially good IMO.
Oh yeah, the piggy thing was freaky.

And of course, the high school scene (like the flashback with the two nurses in episode two) ends with a terrified, cowering woman overpowered by a deranged man. You notice she couldn't die trying to be a hero like the kid in the letter jacket. I hate scenes like that.
Most of the reviews/recaps I read about the show always mention the sexist attitude towards females depictions on the show

There are seventeen questions on Vulture in all, but these are the ones that I'm also wondering about.
1. Is Violet the only one who's been "chosen," to use Billie's word for it? Because Ben can see Tate, too, and so can other people. What does being "chosen" entail?
2. Does Moira appear young only to Ben, or does she appear young to anyone who's skeazy (like the detective)? Does she control it, or is it a curse?
3. Why does Moira age, yet none of the other ghosts do? Or is it just her appearing as an "old soul"?
9. Why was the security guy so chill about Hayden escaping from his car? Does this make for a reassuring security force?
10. On the Halloween episode the cheerleader said that Tate asked her if she believed in God before shooting her. On last night's episode, when we saw the shooting, no such exchange took place. Is that important, or just a continuity error?*
12. Why haven't we met the ghosts of half-face Larry's family yet? If they died in the house, shouldn't they be hanging out in the nightmare basement with all the other spirits?
16. Why doesn't anyone ever, ever say, "What do you mean?" There's so much vague language on this show, yet no one seems bothered by it at all. For example, Ben is completely unfazed when Violet says "the darkness has me." Isn't that sort of an unusual turn of phrase for a teenager? Wouldn't someone — a trained therapist, especially — be likely to say, "My goodness, can you please explain what you mean by that?"
*Actually it was the other girl who said that, but still.
Seventeen Lingering Questions About American Horror Story

Last night's episode was particularly off putting to me. I like dark, but this show has absolutely no light-not even a glimmer. If the writing were better, I might be able to overlook that. However, it is very graphic and unsettling and dramatically I am not sure there is going to be a pay off.
I am still not completely sold on the show but I am watching.
Phyllis, those are all extremely good questions.
Those are pretty good questions. I have no problem with not getting answers to them until the season finale (other than the actual origin of the house which may be a series finale type question - or we can just accept it's evil).
I'm guessing the question about believing in God was a continuity error. It just seems so arbitrary otherwise, doesn't it?
Is it bad that I wish Tate would have gone to McKinley High?
What was the point of the Piggy Piggy storyline? It seemed so extraneous, especially since the character was offed. Did I miss something? Did it add something?

Sometimes your most irrational fears have a way of coming true, but it's just a coincidence. Or IS it?
I always end up watching this show late at night and ending up needing to re-watch it. I can't remember what happened to the piggy guy. Who killed him? I vaguely remember - was it just random intruders? Why am I having a brain fart?
####SPOILERS####
Stockard, there were random robbers in the house when he went into the bathroom and did the "piggy piggy" thing. The robber hiding in the shower thought he was calling him a pig and shot him.
That's sort of what I remembered. I probably should not watch the show after a few glasses of wine.
Jordan, I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw the skeletons in the front yard.
Made me howl.
Halloween Pt 2 episode - when Ben & Viv get back home. Somone posted a pic on the past page I think.
The front yard skeletons were posed in suggestive positions.
I see where there is a picture posted, but it's dark and I can't tell what it is.
Can you see it now? They are obviously screwing.
How much do you want to bet that Vivian is eating Addie. Im taking wagers now. :)
Somebody needs to inform Dylan McDermott that modulating the volume of your voice every other line doesn't qualify as acting.
