Sanjaya should've won.

BLeck sucked as usual and I don't see how "great" a performer he is. And Sueleen I agree that Beat Boxing is sooooooooooooo two decades ago. It's funny how this season Simon loves the guy who 'stays true to his craft' or something insipid, but hated Taylor Hicks, who stuck to his 'soul patrol' schtick. I think Cowell is sweet on Blake.

I'll admit it, Blake makes me squeal like a 12-year-old girl. He's just so cute (although that gold & silver argyle sweater vest was a bit on the frightening side). His first 2 songs I liked a lot; the AI "winner's song" was not so hot, but it's a crap ass song and not his style at all. He really got the short end of the stick having to sing that.
Jordin can sing, no denying, but she's boring. There are 12000 other girls out there just like her. She also cannot pull off anything upbeat or "rock" - she paled in comparison to Christina Aguilera on "Fighter."

Look at his dad. That is Blake 10 years from now.

"Song choice is everything! Ruben's career is not what it might have been, because they (he?) decided he should be an R&B artist"
You don't really think that's why Ruben has no career, do you?
p.s. I wouldn't buy the cd of anyone who's been on AI. I liked one of Kelly Clarkson's songs though.

Last night was a waste of time. How Blake made it into the finals is beyond me. If he couldn't beat box, he would never have made it into the top 12. "This Is My Now" was tacky and no better than any of Idol's terrible songs. Blake was terrible, Jordin at least made the song somewhat interesting. I've seen Blake fans complaining that the song was catered to Jordin's strengths and not Blake's. Well....the song was written quite a while before the final two were announced (I believe) and it is not Jordin's fault that Blake is far from versatile in terms of singing. Blah.
Regardless, Melinda is the rightful winner. Pity.

Blake looked awfully bored with the whole enterprise. I wish he'd just stood up at the end and said how much he hated that "This Is My Now" song.
I do think there's something to the complaints about the show being tailored to favor Jordin. I'd be interested to know when the decision was made to use a particularly nauseating faux power ballad whose lyrics contain more cliches per line than any song since last year's AI final song. The song seems tailor-made for some sappy 17 year old with a big voice to sing her heart out with, and it was milked for all it was worth.

I agree, Roscoe. It was plain that he was biting his tongue about the song. Not about how he sang it, but the actual song...which well if he wants to do that, fine on him.
The show is so camp now. The Ford videos have always been terrible, just like the finale songs. They milk the show...and milk it...and milk it some more.

I want Blake to win simply because he didn't even try with the craptastic non-song that was 'This Is My Now'...which barely makes sense. Ok...not even barely. Of COURSE this is your now. Oops, look...what was just your now is now your past. That's how time works!

I thought it was pretty interesting that the judges and Ryan were basically trashing the song when the songwriters were there in the audience.

Another thing that struck me was Jordin's complete lack of presence. She's got this huge, commanding voice but stands there like a frightened mouse. I was fine as long as I just listened and didn't watch her.

I didn’t get that at all from Blake’s performance. If anything, he looked like he was trying too hard (the affected “here I am, alone with my thoughts” pose at the beginning, the odd dancing). Hell, he probably would have been better off just saying “F*ck it, this song sucks” and standing stock-still for two minutes.
I can’t stand the kid (he’s all shtick), but I felt for him last night. How bad were the other songs if that piece of crap won?
