Mandisa annoys the hell out of me. Talk about a one trick pony. Someone said she sounded like Mary J Blige, yeah and about 20 other R&B singers. Last night was an off night for all of them. It should get better as the stakes go up. Bottom 3 should be interesting tonight.
I think Mandisa is incredible, one of the best voices I've ever heard. She's a powerhouse and can take any song - - rock, country, R&B - - and completely make it her own. I love her!
What did she sing last night? I wasn't able to watch.
Why'd they try and cram 10 songs into one hour? They barely got a minute and no one had time to develop anything. I think that had a lot to do with so many people bombing.
I agree this is one of the strongest groups, despite last night's showing. Season 3 will always be the dud group to measure against as far as I'm concerned. Other than Fantasia that year was a joke -- I mean, they changed the rules because of that season, after all.

willact, Mandisa sang "Shackles (Praise You)" by Mary Mary.
I do think 10 people in an hour was packing it a bit tight, but 2 hours would have been way too much time. Even though Fox probably didn't want to waste the 9:30-10 timeslot, they should have made the show 90 minutes (like they did for the semifinal week where there were 10 people performing each night).
I didn't vote for anyone this week. I was like Simon, underwhelmed the whole night. Even my favorites were boring.
There is usually at least one clunker night and that was last night. I think that's more a testiment that music in the 21st century is pretty sad.

Last night was a regular trainwreck across the board. Song choices were terrible (with the exception of Elliott and maybe Taylor). I'm having trouble doing my weekly recap, it was so bad, but I'll try.
Lisa: Missed part of her performance, but I think perhaps she was off key? Blah.
Kellie: Oy vey. Twangy. Blah. Ick. Yuk.
Ace: Cheesiest AI performance ever. And, the man can't sing.
Mandisa: Sounded great. Wasn't so crazy about the song choice though.
Taylor: Looked fabulous (I sound like Paula here). Sang well. Song was a bit boring, but no real issues.
Chris: Gets immunity because he's been good thus far, but the song was awful and the performance was boring.
Bucky: Actually, I think Bucky (with the exception of his diction issues) looked very comfortable last night. It was OK - not as bad as some of the others, not great. It was better than I expected.
Paris: The girl can sing, no doubt. But I agree with Simon on this one - a bit mature for her, and it made her look silly, like playing dress up.
McPheever: Boooooring. ZZZZZZ. And she had pitch problems in her head voice.
Elliott: With the exception of the rap star dance moves, he was my favorite.
Bottom three prediction: Ace, Lisa, Bucky.
Not sure yet who goes home, but I am leaning toward Ace. The "permanent scar" move is too cheesy for me to give mercy here!
Noone performed well last night, at least noone sang to their potential or previous performances...
Someone said it, there is always a few weeks where everyone seems tired and uninspired.
Best of the evening: Mandisa, wouldve been Elliot, but he missed the lyrics and let it effect his performance.
Worst: Lisa, and Simon finally said what I've been saying all along...the freaking song was too big for her. She is not a diva and doesnt have a big voice. She's going to give herself a hernia..look at her face! Pass that kidneystone already!
Ace was SO bad, and I'd be just as happy if he left...SMARMY...
Ace=Constantine=Guarini...ick!
Bucky (my least favorite) was just not bad enough to get my "worst" vote.
...and Chris is still way overrated. I dont think there is much behind the yelling. It'd be interesting to hear a simple ballad from him.
One of my favorites, Katherine, was overrated last night. She didnt sing that one very well IMO.
After watching the show, I feel like I wasted an hour.
Definately not one of the best nights for American Idol.
Bottom 3:
Lisa
Ace
Kelli
I told my mom yesterday while watching the show, the first three that went up are going to be the bottom three tomorrow. I found it to be quite ironic.
I, for one, am sick of Chris and his one-trick-pony act - he sings every song exactly the same way - showing that that particular brand of rock is the only thing he can do. Simon certainly confused me last night, though, because last week he told Chris that he admired him for knowing his niche and complimented him for not comprising. Then, this week, he tells Chris that he must get out of his comfort zone and show that he can do other things.
My bottom three right now are:
Bucky
Pickler
Lisa
ROFL at that Ford skit. It's like they pasted them onto a fake NYC street scene.
Wyclef Jean's painfully obvious lip-synching is cracking me up.
Lisa's in the bottom 3. No shock there.
So is Ace.
And Katharine.
Why is the audience surprised? I'm not at all.

OMG, WTF was with Wyclef???? seriously, that was pathetic. and Yay for Katahrine being in the bottom three. She butchered that song last night and judges like, ignored it.
Ace is safe.
Well, it is a bit surprising--and Lord knows others deserve to be there over her (Pickler).
Lisa is gone. No surprise there.
OMG NO!!! She's my favorite!!

So long Lisa. Maybe you can get a gig at Six Flags.
I'm glad that Katharine was in the bottom 3. She was awful last night, and needed the wake up call after the judges wrongly praised her.
I'm not a big Lisa fan, but there are worse contestants than her (PICKLES! ACE! BUCKY!). Still, it's not really a surprise to see her go.
I highly doubt she'll need a job at Six Flags.
She as on Broadway (or tour, can't remember) when she was a little girl, in The Lion King.
I was suprised Katherine was in the bottom 3.
Yay for Mandisa!
Pickles and Bucky should really be in their element next week. So, get used to them hanging around for a while longer. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Pickles made it into the top three. She appears to have a rather large fan base.

There's a big difference in getting cast in a show like Lion King as a child and making it as an adult performer. Okay... maybe not Six Flags. Disneyland awaits.
