As long as you tell the producers about any past arrests and stuff, it's ok. When you sign away your soul to them, they have sections saying that they reserve the right to televise anything they want about you, even if they make it up. If they really want someone gone or to stir up drama, they can "leak" the info to the media.
Aside from Frenchie, the only finalist whose past led to disqualification was Corey Clark, and that was because he lied to the producers about his record. There was also a semifinalist in the first season named Delano who was booted when a background check revealed that he had lied about his age in an attempt to circumvent the age limits.
I have faith in Taylor. I think he is just wonderful. I like Chris but I think he does too much rock. It’s not really his fault in a certain way. When they got down to the final what 24? when they had one night for the girls and the other for the guys, Simon said to Chris " I’m glad that you know what you do best and that you stick to it " but then about 2 or 3 weeks later he tells him" you'll never make it in this competition if you can't be versatile”. So I feel really bad for the people who do have a really strong singing style.
I also felt that they needed to get Kellie a voice coach to help get rid of some of her accent. I loved her, I thought she was the cutest thing, but for my personal taste I don’t like the STRONG southern accent (and I live in the south). It was hard for me to understand what she was saying sometimes because of it. Oh has A.I already done Broadway week? Every single year I have missed it.
Tweety, I totally agree. As a Southerner myself (woo!) I think there are times when, in singing, a really thick accent is somewhat hurtful. There are tons of country singers that aren't overly..."twangy". The one woman who can really get away with it is Reba McIntire. Kellie needed to tone it down a bit. Especially when she hit the "Are you still mine?" in Unchained Melody. I think the world froze for a brief moment there.
And to answer your last question, they haven't done Broadway this year. I doubt they will now that it's in the final 4. That would have been so much fun to see, though!
So, Taylor was his usual Taylor self doing Jailhouse Rock.
Chris was pretty good, but not one of his best performances.
None of them are really knock-outs tonight so far. They're good, but nothing really "wow."
I don't get the Elliot hype. His vibrato bothers me; it sounds like his voice is shaking because he's nervous, rather than a good, rich vibrato.

Em, I was just going to say that Elliott overdid it with the vibrato in that performance. It got better towards the end of the song, but overall that performance didn't play to his strengths.

I could be a critic for all of them so far, but I won't. I could never do what they are doing right now. They are delivering under pressure. I give them all a lot of credit. They are all winners at this point in the game. Good for them!
I don't like Katharine, but that was definitely enough to get her another week unless she completely f**ks up the second performance.

Even though it hasn't aired here yet I COMPLETELY AGREE!! Just to get to this point in the game is something for them to be proud of.
For once, Taylor cut out the annoyingness and just sang well.

Chris didn't even really sound like Chris for most of the song.
I liked everything but the scream at the end.
Another good performance. They are really stepping up to the challenge. Like them or not, I can't say anything bad right now about any of them. Weird night on Idol.
Wow, Elliott absolutely nailed that!
