That's unfortunate to hear. I'm not saying that Taylor can't sing, but I just can't handle the act. The smarmy-ness. The cheese. I agreed with Simon when he suggested he was too lounge singer for this show. Then again, I think if Chris had stayed in and won, they would destroy his sound with those ridiculous contractualy obligated songs. It wouldn't be right for him.
Elliot on the other hand, his voice is just so unique sounding to me. I can understand the pitch problems because it comes through a lot on TV as well. But I'd still pick him over Taylor.
Katherine? This should be interesting...
I think Chris has a better chance at success without winning, but hopefully he won't have been forgotten by the time his album is released.
Can't stand Elliot, his version of "trouble" annoyed me. I want Taylor to win. Catherine really sucked last night...
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu
Honestly, after four idols, it's a coin flip as to whether or not they'll have any mainstream success or all.
I'm sure the Fox brass will be pushing Kat now because she is the best overall package by far according to a PR standpoint: pretty girl, nice voice, not controversial, and very camera friendly. Elliot has the voice and you can tell that there's some charisma trying to bubble out over the last couple of weeks. But I think Taylor is the unstoppable force of nature that will win American Idol 5 and could signal the "jumping of the shark" for AI.
Is there anyone like me who just wants to see Taylor win now so we can watch Simon's head explode and watch the Fox marketing people scramble on figuring out how to promote a grey-haired blues singer with a possible case of turrets?

Actually, Simon was on the Today Show yesterday and he predicted that the final two would be Taylor and Chris.
Katherine was awful this week...she deserved to go instead of Chris. But based on the performances, I think they got the split right between the top and bottom two...just sent the wrong one home.
I'm so sad to see Chris go. He was my favorite from the audition phase. But, there are actually two silver linings to this...
1) Chris really can go far without the title. I think in his case, like Bo's, the title would have hurt him.
2) GO ELLIOTT! Elliott was always my other favorite male and he is really emerging as the underdog climbing his way to the top. Honestly didn't think he'd be in the final three. But I'm happy.
I like Katharine, too, so I can't complain too much. Although I'm positive now that Taylor will win and that will be a joke.
The look on Simon's face last night was priceless...the real marketable one..OUT.
So, best wishes to Chris and go, Elliott!
I just think it's funny how so worked up people get over a little TV show. The American Idol website boards look like WWIII is going to break out over this with conspiracy theories about phone lines and sabatoge and everything else. For weeks all I've heard from people is Fox wants a rocker to win, they're pushing Chris and now that he's voted off, everyone's like, Fox didn't want a rocker to win, they rigged the vote. It's this whole take my ball and go home mentality that puzzles me.
And all those people who say they'll boycott the show, how many of them said the same thing last year when Constantine was voted off? We make fun of him now, but there was the same kind of flap when he got voted off last season.
I did think it was going to be Kathereine and Chris in the finals. I can't stand Taylor. I like Elliot. I just don't think his voice would ever make me want to buy a record. And as good as Chris was.. i don't think he will have it a easy with a career without the title. We will see.

I am so glad that Chris is gone, I cannot tell ya!
Katharine was the worst on Tuesday, I'll admit, but Chris has underwhelmed me from the beginning. Kat has had her lapses in judgement (crappy song choices, HORRENDOUS arrangements) but when she is good, she's great. Chris will make a decent front man, but will never be taken seriously in the rock world for being on AI and will not likely have a big career, tho I hope I am wrong, as he seems like a sweet guy.
Even if Chris does go start a band, he's going back to square one -- I mean, look at Constantine. He's going to have to find a band, write his own stuff, really do the band thing for real. Which is cool but people thinking he's 'set' are really ignorant of how the music biz works. His name's not going to mean that much and labels aren't going to just sign a random rock singer if he doesn't have any music.
The conspiracy theories are hysterical, though. Just a week ago it was 'clearly rigged so Chris can win' now, apparently, it was 'clearly rigged' since he didn't win.
Good for a laugh. I enjoy every minute of the show but really can't imagine getting worked up over it.

Haha. Perfection. If Taylor wins, I will be floored. But I think he has a silent majority that keeps voting for him every week. And, no, it's not me. I'm not spending two hours to get one vote in. I've tried all season. It isn't working.
And I think a fee would actually be a good idea. It would keep people from voting a million times. Also, it would see more serious people actually voting than sites like votefortheworst.com just trying to get the "worst" off the show.
Are you kidding? American Idol season six would last three episodes of the voting rounds if they instituted a fee. NOBODY would vote. Who's that serious about American Idol besides Simon?
I'm slightly surprised. I knew it was going to be between Kat and Chris but I figured, based on her horrible Tuesday, it would be Kat. But Chris has been in the bottom a few times. I don't think he's nearly as popular as people think he is. I'm not sure who's voting for Kat though. Like Paris (who's completely awful, Munk, sorry) she's too young.
She's about as smarmy as Taylor though. Chris was smarmy too. Elliot isn't smarmy but he's nothing special. I'm not sure about this best singer on the show business. He's not that amazing. This season sucks. Every season sucks. This show sucks.
JohnPopa has a point. The music biz is a fickle and cruel provider. I think Kellie Clarkson has been the only person from the show to be able to find a huge audience (everyone else seems to only succeed in niche markets). Either because she's the first or because she's a cookie cutter artist. She can sang, but she's still pretty cookie cutter. But they're all kind of cookie cutter. Clay, Ruben, and Taylor get points for being total freaks I guess.
I don't think anybody can succeed with a rock band if they were an American Idol second place winner/winner. It's almost sort of antithetical. This is probably the best thing for Chris. If he has any sort of talent as a musician I think he would do better to write some music, take the solo route with some kind of unknown backup band, move to LA and start building a fanbase--oh wait, American Idol OWNZ him for the next five years or something.
Apparently Constantine is working on such a thing (a solo album). If they were smart they'd get the American Idol people to option a song they write and use it :P
