In the next few days, I think we should all treat the news of Scalia's passing with the same courtesy and respect Scalia would treat the passing of a liberal of comparable standing -- so feel free to tapdance, high five everyone in sight and say, "Burn mother f*cker BURN!!!"

The ugly partisanship and bitter pandering on this page SICKENS ME. No condolences to the family. Not a tiny fraction of a semblance of respect for somebody who held a life of long-standing public service. Pull it TOGETHER, people. THIS is what's wrong with our country.
And if you want to want to keep up the erroneous fallacy that Scalia would jump around giddily at the passing of a liberal of comparable standing, why don't you look up the hundreds of cute pictures of him and RBG at the opera? It's called respecting ideology.

Excuse me if I don't show respect to the family of a man who showed absolutely no respect to me and mine.

I read something that made me laugh. I'm paraphrasing but it said "Clarence Thomas should continue his tradition of doing everything Scalia does"

That is like literally the LAST thing about that dude to respect. Unless we find out he hadn't used toilet paper in 40 years or something.

In contrast to the recent Dem debate between Hillary and Bernie, that was some ugliness on display in Charleston, SC by the GOP class clowns. Only Kasich managed to keep his composure, even under attack from Jeb.
Friends, did we all not witness Donald J. Trump say on national TV to Jeb Bush's face that there we no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? How does the GOP recover from that claim?
And at various times, The Donald, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio called each other liars. They used the actual "L" word in a televised GOP debate. Unlike the pundits who awarded Trump the victory, I thought he completely imploded out there. If I were a Republican, there's no way in heck I'd vote for Trump. He simply lacks the temperament to be POTUS. Imagine the pissin' contests between Putin, Kim Jong-un, Abu Bakr, Netanyahu, and him, and the consequences for all Americans. Worst still, what kind of folks would Trump try to appoint to the SCOTUS?

Who held the moment of silence the longest? Surely not Trump?

It was a draw between Rubio & Cruz. I'm not a pro pundit but I believe that Trump committed some unpardonable sins. There's no way the GOP establishment will entrust him with the party nomination. How many ways can I say brokered convention and Donald...you're fired!

His unpardonable sins make him stronger. He's the logical end game of the indulgence of the tea party.

I'm glad the moderator didn't let Cruz get away with the erroneous and fictitious claim that presidents never nominate a Supreme Court justice in an election year.

Obama would make a hell of a casting director.

Holy crap. I know this guy! He went to my high school and college in Lawrence, Kansas. That whole family was so brilliant. His younger sister Srinija Srinivasan became one of the founding executive VPs at Yahoo ... but when I played the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz" (back in the early 1980s) at the Kansas Repertory Theatre, she was a child Munchkin in the Lullabye League. LOL
Sorry ... having a completely surreal moment about this. Go, Sri! Wow.

Wow, you really are something. How the heck do you know how he would treat the death of a liberal judge?

Obama should nominate a woman of color so that the republicans, for fear of losing even more votes and looking even more archaic, can't do something stupid.

1. Nobody proposed that we kill him or even hurt him when he was still alive..
2. Scalia was not particularly principled, unless "principle" now means "partisan prejudice". He was perfectly happy to drop his fundamentalist reading of the Constitution whenever it suited his rightwing friends. (See Bush v. Gore.) He didn't even bother with the appearance of impartiality, vacationing with Dick Cheney and the like.
3. He spent the last 3 decades insisting that most of us here are the legal and moral equivalents of child molesters. He never earned our respect and we are all the better for his departure.

I hope Scalia's death inspires Sanders most ardent supporters to realize no matter how much they dislike Hillary that if she is the nominee they need to support her or jeopardize every single progressive cause for generations to come.

And it's the next day, Valentine's Day even, and yes, Scalia is still dead, and the sun shines a little more brightly, and life is just a little bit better. Let's all agree to hold our loved ones a little tighter as a result, and toast our love with an extra bit of champagne, and have our non-missionary position sex just a little more enthusiastically in the knowledge that we are alive and he is dead dead f*cking DEAD.
