I'd have to say that SIX FEET UNDER'S ending montage, full of spoiler-heavy material that I won't reveal here, is about a perfect note as any TV show ever went out on.

I have never seen an episode of Six Feet Under except for that montage, and it was one of the most brilliant things I had ever seen. It was really well done.
I also agree with Once and Again, I loved that show. Well, mostly I loved Shane West.
Friends was another one that had me in tears the whole way, and they had wrapped up everything that was important to the show in that episode.
Friends was by far the most perfectly done series finale. It was funny and sad....but not too sad. I loved that they brought up random things from the past...like the chick and duck....and the pool table... good times.

jimnysf, totally agree with MTM. I guess when you have people saying that "Friends was by far the most perfectly done series finale", you know you're dealing with people who were too young to be watching TV before the 80s or in some cases the 90s.
Exactly the series I was going to say. Mary Tyler Moore all the way. It is still the only show that left way before it lost any of its charm. It left on top and with a great ending. Its a long way to Tiporary.

To see "Friends" listed as "by far the most perfectly done series finale" makes me sad. There were far better series and series finales than that show but I can't fault the posters. They were probably not around when there were good TV shows like "Mary Tyler Moore" and "The Fugitive". Both of those were arguably the best series finales, along with "Newhart", in the history of TV.

I liked the series finale of "Strong Medicine." I'm not sure if too many people have even heard of it, but I loved it. And the finale left me wanting more, I was very sad that it ended.
