Thanks for getting my hopes up Jordan! I'm crying over the cutting of Debbie.
They should have cut both Jay-Z numbers instead.

I laughed. A lot. Wish there was less Jay-Z and more Betty White.
The show was really, mostly, just the same poorly written, unfunny nothingness that it has been for a while now. Case in point: the prison sketch with Keenan and the dancing Hispanic talk show. What made those dull sketches funny, however, was Betty. She truly did SAVE this episode.

Posted: 5/9/10 at 1:04amShe was flawless. Too many guests on though. Really didn't need all of them. I felt they wasted Tina, Amy, and Rachel though. I hope she hosts again!

I think NBC usually has the full episodes up afterwards. Check Hulu too.
I think my least favorite sketch of the night was all the McGruber stuff. But, I've never really liked it.

Posted: 5/9/10 at 1:11amIt will be up on NBC.com in a few hours. I often check out SNL on Sunday mornings. Trust me, there will be clips posted all over the net within hours.

I am just at Weekend Update. I am not a huge rap fan but Jay-Z rocked it! That girl that did the Alicia Keys vocals killed it!

Posted: 5/9/10 at 1:49amWizard of ass just went off and that was too funny! I just wish they would find something funnier for Keenan. I really think he has more in him than what they give him. Didn't care for Whitney (And yes she looked more like MJB). Weekend Update was ok.

I agree. Kenan works much better with zany off the wall characters.

Overall, a good show. I think just the excitement of her hosting made it seem funnier. And who is Mr. Hudson? He's quite cute and I am buying that song! She didn't thank Jay-Z at the end. I noticed she didn't seem to use cue cards during the show.

Oh, she used cue cards but with careful rehearsing and her professionalism of working in front of a camera made it appear she wasn't. There was a Debbie Downer sketch included in the air line up which was cut at the 11th hour due to JZ doing an 8.5 minute set instead of the standard 2.5 minute set in the first half. There was also A Bronx Beat sketch with Amy and Maya that was cut at the last minute.
Betty was on fire and showing incredible stamina in keeping up with the pace. Man, we should all be so lucky at 88! She is probably one of the most charming people you would eve want to meet!

Posted: 5/9/10 at 2:47amOh man I wanted Debbie Downer AND Bronx Beat so badly. I think SNL really missed out on an opportunity to throw Penelope in with Debbie Downer.. but the episode was amazing. I laughed multiple times each success, which seems like such a rarity these days

Oh, I wish they'd put up some of the stuff they cut at dress online too. Rachel really has the worst luck with this stuff... I remember reading that she came back around this time last season to do a Debbie Downer commentary on Update (I think it was about swine flu) which was also cut. Huge bummer, she's one of my all-time favorite cast members.
But it was a great show all the way around. Betty was truly a better host than most actresses a third of her age.

Posted: 5/9/10 at 7:59amI love Debbie Downer. Why Jay-Z? You were actually very boring.

This is off topic, but does anyone remember back in 2006 when Rachel Dratch was originally suppose to be on most episodes of 30 ROCK as various characters? They started out with her playing several roles but did away with it after a few episodes. Rachel would be an awesome cast regular on 30 ROCK! What happened?
Just answered my own question.

Posted: 5/9/10 at 8:35amJust watched it on DVR. A terrific episode overall, though I feel the first half's sketches were stronger. For some reason, I like the Mauel Ortiz show. I even liked the Macgrubber stuff.

romantico - i forgot Chris Parnell was fired. thanks for the link.

some of those sketches were classics though. nice to see them back. Betty is a pro and has been for decades that is why it was also good. The thing that saddens me is that they didn't ask her of their own accord, it was a petition that got her on?? NBC surely thought of it. I missed the Digital Short so i must see it. and... the prison sketch was always funny to me. what made it funny a while back was when the "boys" Keenan was talking to couldn't help but crack up. I love Keenan.
