So, I try to start setting up for tonight, and Zander begins to chew each and every item on the table. I gave up when he began to shred the napkins. (He started with the forks and spoons, went to the pita chip bag, moved on to the napkins, and they eyed the plates.)

We're having a classic "Life is what happens while you make plans" moment here. Our holiday companions were on their own yesterday, and ended up having a lovely dinner at a great Italian restaurant - except one of them got food poisoning.

SOOOOO, the TinMan and I are on our own for the evening. Which, honestly, is just fine with us. We will ring out the old and bring in the new in the fashion which gives us the most comfort - we'll have a lovely, quiet dinner, watch LOVE ACTUALLY, and be in bed probably by 10pm (if we make it that long.) Peaceful, calm and safely in the embrace of each other and the beautiful life with which we are so enormously blessed.

A Happy New Year to all - and I'll see a few of you tomorrow!
