Hopping to it, DG... high tea... There's a good one at the Carlyle, but that is more uptown than midtown. There's also one at the Four Seasons Hotel. Not to mention the Ritz-Carlton on Central Park South. I'm quite sure Essex House would have one too....

High tea, usually served after 2PM. Consists of finger sandwiches, and other savory bites and delectable desserts, like cakes, cookies, chocolates. The beverage of choice is often tea, though champagne can be added for an additional charge. Developed in Europe to tie over the appetite between lunch and generally, a later supper...
