Here is an exchange earlier (saved from the interoffice 'IM')

Assistant = TL
Addy = Me

TL [3:39 PM]:
hey addy
Addy [3:44 PM]:
hi
TL [3:47 PM]:
i had scheduled an amtrak ticket at 4p tomorrow, a week ago, thinking that I wouldnt even be starting the training for the new postion on monday, and obviously things have changed, so I can change this i just wanted to know what is a reasonable time to leave
TL [3:48 PM]:
i was hasty in making this decision obviously
Addy [3:49 PM]:
we have the deck due - so not sure what time we'll be able to leave. what are your options?
Addy [3:49 PM]:
not sure why a 4pm ticket would have been ok a week ago... don't follow your logic
TL [3:50 PM]:
i know, i wasnt thinking very rationally the last few weeks
Addy [3:51 PM]:
ok - let me know what your timing options are tomorrow. The change to the new department wouldn't have taken effect until August. Really not clear on why leaving early was ok.
TL [3:52 PM]:
there is a 735, and a 905
Addy [3:53 PM]:
do you have to book in advance?
TL [3:53 PM]:
i have to get them soon or else the prices will get to way too high
Addy [3:55 PM]:
Not sure what to tell you. Maybe book the 9:05, but if you can catch the 7:35 then you can leave earlier. We have alot of work to do with the deck due on Monday. You make the call you feel is best.

... love having them 'make the call'.
Needless to say, he booked the later train.

"Help me to understand..."
Works everytime.

That, too. adults writing the number 23 on the faces of passed out threadees

Last night I ordered dinner in for the team - so they took some time to enjoy it. And then left! Not really the point. Dinner is to keep us going during our late evenings...

*sigh*

Sorry Addy.

Why don't y'all hire me? I dress well(ish), I have a good work ethic, and I don't mind staying late!

I'm taking notes, addy. Though I'm not really the "manager" type; tried it once and let's just say it didn't end well. adults writing the number 23 on the faces of passed out threadees

Shira will stay late. Of course, she won't come into the office until 1:00 p.m.

But if she stays 'til 10 pm, does that count as working late?

I actually enjoy 'managing'. I use alot of my teaching skills, because I primarily look upon my role as a mentor.

But, every once in a while there are some challenges...

Shira, what are you looking for?

LOL - that's another good one. If you come in late, then staying 'late' doesn't begin until you've made up for your late arrival...

Logic 101.

Even I know that! So if I came at 1, stayed 'til 10, that would technically make me right on time.

That would be Tink.

Shira would be on the phone, ordering things from catalogs.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Just bailed on a bike ride tonight, not in shape for back-to-back rides. Though the weather is perfect, will have to find something to do outside.

I was going to say the same exact thing about Shira and catalogs.

But, yeah, Shira would be like "Business credit card? Well, sure, I need this Marc Jacobs bag for work...Very important image to uphold!"

I have an early evening appointment with my shoulder guy. It is a pain, and he is in the opposite direction from me - but it beats the alternative, which is surgery.

More fires here at work. Between the insipid sexual harassment and discrimination seminar, and somebody demonstrating that he is not just a moron, but a really big moron, it has been a day.
