Work day done.
Eight more work days until Costa Rica!
Mornin'
Hip. Hip. Hooray.
Happy HUMP day peeps! Rumor has it that my company is laying off 100s of people globally today...Happy Holidays! Our "Holiday" party is tonight too. Tomorrow is the Nate Berkus show. At least I have that to look forward to. It looks like the grim reaper a.k.a HR is already here. UGH!!!

God, I HATE when that happens, Boobs. Like anyone will get any work done today. Not much to celebrate tonight, either. As a supervisor, you should have gotten a heads-up as to who they're letting go.
'Morning, Deet! *giggle, snort*
And it's getting better, Moony.
Good morning!
I'm sorry, Boobs. we are going through the same thing on a smaller scale. We lost a VP yesterday (and I actually didnt mind that guy). We dont get a holiday party. Monday our CEO will come to the NJ office, blabber on randomly about nothing for an hour, and then we get wine and cookies in the upstairs kitchen for an hour. Aren't we special. Oh well.
We have to spend $18 for lunch for the honor of eating with people who we would NEVER eat lunch with. Happy Holidays.
One of the ad agencies I worked for is famous for holiday layoffs. At least they always waited until the day after the party. Made the hangovers that much more fun.
There was one very awkward year when two people went home with each other after the party, and then one of them had to let the other one go a few days later. Quite the scandal -- the lawsuit went on for years. Further proof that the higher one goes up the ladder, the dumber they get.
Moony, luckily my direct boss did tell me that his direct boss said we are safe this go around. It's the bank side that is getting the axe this holiday season. I became very close with many of them though because of our love for theatre. My peeps are sports fanatics! Hopefully none of my friends will feel the cut.
Ugh.
We are getting Pizza after an all-employee meeting on Thursday. I think the LA offices are OK for the time being, but one never knows.
We did provide toys and food for the school we support, so that was at least heartwarming.
Happy Hump Day.
Damn insomnia. Woke up at 4:30 with a solution to a work problem and wanted to get the proposal out. Ho Freaking Ho.
Seems all companies feel the need to cut people right around the holidays. So far, I haven't heard of anything around here. *knock wood*.
Ya gotta love a morning when a detour in your own town takes you an extra 20 minutes to get out of said town!! UGH! Then, you have the usual idjits on the road. I was not cut out for commuting.

Girly, the detours were due to cuts in your town.
We've already been gutted. I went to another two retirement events this week. There will soon be more empty cubicles than full. Thank you, Fat Fvck!
Oh, and holiday party?? What's a holiday party?? Corporate giants like mine, that's pretty much a fantasy. In the olden days, some individual groups had a little something, but usually got 'given' for us.
I do have a couple lunch dates next week, though. One of which, I'm still trying to figure out my Secret Santa gift to get.

GODDESS!!!!!!!
What heavenly work will you be doing? And more importantly, will you have internet access?
Hey Tinkerbell!
I shall be a business administrator for a company that is freakishly similar to my old company. And, they were recently bought by a corporation in Texas so my Amurican-ness will come in handy. I can translate from Geordie to Texan and vice versa. But, they want to groom me to be a sales office manager once I learn the technical side of the company. It's a great salary and a good location. Shamey is merry and bright!
Hello, Goddess!
I will have internet access, but I doubt I will have the freedom of my previous job. LOL!
But, they can't stop me from emailing on breaks. Oh, and another perk is that they close at 2 on Fridays. These people know how to live!
That sounds fantastic!!!!!! Congrats again!!!

And, if it's an American firm, won't they neet to ocassionaly fly you back to the states? You know...for meetings and parties and shows and such?
I guess it could happen. They're based in Houston, but maybe I could stop in NYC along the way.
