Things here are just splendid A BEAUTIFUL Sunday morning - I love Sunday mornings - so peaceful and quiet! The TinMan is now through with his season, so we're on a whirlwind the next few days catching other people's shows we haven't been able to see because of his production schedule. But we kick off tonight with a potluck with our primary social group - good way to start
And Moony - 'proud' doesn't quite cover how I feel. I am so humbled by the fearlessness with which he is approaching his life. I am learning every day what it can be like to take full charge of your own existence. He is SO happy and excited with the prospects that every day brings - truly, a walking advertisement for following your bliss!
Good Morning all...well almost afternoon here. I've been up early, but my sons just got up so I'm making them breakfast before I take them home. It's been a very productive weekend here in the Boobs house. Being the painting was done last weekend, my eldest touch up spots the painter missed and the 3 of us hung my 2 antique mirrors and pictures. Still a lot of dust from him sanding, but I'm trying to rectify that problem now. We also watched "To Kill A Mockingbird" last night...can't figure out why I thought of Mamie through the whole movie.
Congrats to my adopted Dad..hope he can have some time to breath now.
BEB..I was thinking the same thing..I understood your comment and knew it wasn't directed at another poster. That saddens me to think that a friend thought you directed that at her.
Mom..sounds like you're keeping busy, but still don't understand why you feel the need to curese..WTF...hee hee.
Moony..hope the sermon today didn't put you to sleep.
Off to feed the chilens.

Time with the kids sounds great, Boobs - and what a WONDERFUL movie to share with them!
Now I'm off to get the yard whipped into shape, dust and vacuum inside and catch our personal paperwork up - I'm going to be READY for a relaxing evening with friends!
Hope everyone enjoys their day
Morning, or near afternoon all.
I get to see DG on Wednesday. Yeah me!

Hey Beb! Sounds like a great weekend going for you. I saw Light in the Piazza last night - now I am trying to wake up. I am in the mood to move my furniture around - it might happen today. Depends on this cup of coffee I just poured. lol. I watched Chicken Little Friday night - thought it was freaking hysterical! Maybe it was my mood - but I laughed all the way through it.

Cheeze - was that your first time for PIAZZA? I LOVE that show!
YWIW - Yay, indeed! And I get to see Erika on Tuesday night - it's a good BWW week ahead

It was my first time at the Piazza - I thought it was lovely.

When does that show close?

Well, I am in San Francisco - and I believe this tour ends on August 27th. I know A Chorus Line ends here on the 2nd of Sept - so maybe I am confusing the two. I believe it's next Sunday though.

I missed Piazza here at the Goodman!
I assume that it will return.
Hello Adults!
The Piazza tour with Christine Andreas will touch down in Atlanta in October - not too much longer to wait. :)

Well I won't be seeing that one either then.
I will be in New York about a week or two before Christmas. I was hoping to see DRS. Nope. Piazza's closed, and really I'm not sure what else will be open! I could go to Tarzan, but it's apparently crap. I want to see Spelling Bee. I've seen Wicked. I might see the Drowsy Chaperone, but I don't think I'd like it.

I love it when Glebby leaps into this thread
vm - Drowsy wasn't my cup of tea, but audiences really do seem to have a good time.

What's Drowsy about? Is it a feel-good show? Old fashioned? What?
:) DG!
I enjoyed Drowsy.
It's old fashioned, feel good, colorful - better than Thoroughly Modern Millie.
It's perfect for the night after Sweeney.
Piazza is just so special.

linnie - Mary Poppins will be open by your visit, I would personally pick that over Tarzan - and I really enjoyed Color Purple when I saw it in May. You might consider that.
Jungle - Andreas is in the production I saw last night. I did not realize how long she has been on stage until I read her bio. I feel so out of the loop! She is also a parent of a developmentally challenged son - which I knew before seeing the show and I kind of wish I had not going in.
Hi DG! I hope that all is well with you today!
Aren't we lucky to get to see Piazza again?!
All is well here in Atlanta. We went to see Taylor Dayne in concert at the Atlanta Botanical Garden on Friday night. It is really a nice venue for a small show - about 1000 people- tops. Patrons can bring blankets and / or low chairs and purchase dinners / picnic fare / wine / soft drinks and enjoy a concert under the stars. Taylor still has an incredible voice. I really havn't listened to her in awhile and forgot how powerful her voice was. She had a couple of backup singers/ dancers and all her hits were well choreographed. Taylor works hard and even came out on the lawn during an early number. She is definitely a 'diva' - but doesn't act like it, too much. Encores were "Tell It too My Heart" and "Love Will Lead You Back". Taylor even graciously signed autographs after the show...I did meet her. The opening act was 80's act Naked Eyes ('Promises/ Promises' and the remake of "Always Something Here to Remind Me'). They were a little weak as the lead singer has lost most of his voice, but the bonus was the nostalgia factor.

Cheeze - I did read that Ms. Andreas has a developmetally challenged child and that she really wanted to paly the part of Margaret. I LOVED Vicki Clark in the role, but I'm very open to Christine's interpretation of the part, also.
VM - I enjoyed both Spelling Bee and Drowsy. Spelling Bee is a really cute, smart small show. Drowsy is an old fashioned, wink wink, musical comedy love letter to musical theatre. I laughed and laughed throughout the show and found the escapism very funny.

Escapism? Explain...
And I live in Dublin, so if I want to see Mary Poppins I'll go to London (and I have seen it in London, and want to do so again). I want to see things that I won't be able to see over here. I think Sweeney is closing before December though, isn't it? I thought it was closing the same day as DRS.
Afternoon, all! Everyone seems so busy this weekend. I went for a long overdue haircut today. I'm so glad I don't tell them to cut off any more than 1/2 inch. They NEVER seem to listen, and with my stupid curls, when my hair dries, it bounces up even shorter. UGH! Did some laundry real quick, and now getting ready to go to a movie and then grab some dinner. Going to see Little Miss Sunshine (I think that's the name), of which I know nothing about, except that Addict found it extremely funny.
Hope everyone's enjoying their Sunday!

Yes, SWEENEY is closing on Sept. 3rd.
I enjoyed the experience of THE COLOR PURPLE, as well - although, not much of it stuck with me very long. For me, part of the excitement was how much the audience REALLY got into it, which they did very vocally!
Well, VM, I really don't want to give away the whole premise to Drowsy. I think the less one knows walking in the door for this show, the better. Suffice to say the the central character - "Man in Chair" - enjoys the escapism he finds by listening to old record albums - of classic Broadway shows of yesteryear. What unfolds in the show are his wonderful memories - that take him away - 'escapism'- to his 'happy place'. The audience gets to come along for the ride to yesteryear.
