You never heard of sendin' out for dinner, DG?
haha, mooney, you are too much!! How are you feeling today, btw?
DG - awwww, of course in my mind the penguin totally has Hugh's voice! =)
There'll be no eatin' them cute critters!
Seriously, the fundamentals haven't changed. The Chinese sell-off isn't a structural or US economic issue. Volatility comes fast, but, if you're an investor, not a trader, your portfolio should be ok. (Certain sectors, though, are more vulnerable...)
I'd love to buy, buy, buy.
Oooh - that note might have helped! It had dropped over 500 points and is now up (did I say UP?) to -375
edit - that's exactly what I was thinking, Addy. It's a perfect time to buy.
Then I'll remain bullish!

Bullish. Yes, we could eat bulls, too.
Much better, Tink. Obviously my appetite is back. My retirement investments are taking a hit, but I'll eat ok.
How could you think of eating this:

You're absolutely right.
Not enough meat on him yet.
Our Moony is BACK!!
They just had another report on the stocks and they agreed with everything you said, Addy.
The last time the market took this deep a cut was in '87 - only at that time the cut represented 22% of the market. Today it's only 3%. They also mentioned that the best time to buy stocks are when you're uncomfortable doing it and EVERYBODY is uncomfortable today! The best time to buy was when they hit the deepest low of -522 (I think that was the number). The cooler heads are simply looking at this as an overdue 'adjustment' and nothing to worry about.
Addy, I have a huge can of coins in my closet. If I count it and roll it all up, will you invest it for me?
That's why I invest. I don't trade. I don't have the stomach for it!
The financials are an interesting sector, though. Interest rates are going to be a critical part of future analysis.
Be glad to, Shamey!
(But happy to hear that closing bell today!)

This is why we have someone who handles all this for us - and I'm VERY happy to take his advice and not pay any attention!
We were talking about pretty much the very thing that happened today in my economics class yesterday. It was a nice coincidence, because I understood what was going on more or less.
But economics is so confusing. It seems so simple. And it is. But it's not.

Priest - you better be careful popping in here - we'll kidnap you and make you our coffee boy!
So many different factors. Especially in our global economic environment!
I've always found it fascinating.
(But, would you mind studying what happens when the market goes UP, Priest? I'd prefer that coincidence! )
Today we talked about crowding out, and then for some reason my teacher talked for about 20 minutes about how the Japanese own Pebble Beach and the Seattle Mariners.
That ties in to what I was saying about interest rates...

Have we heard from Boobs? I hope he's still breathing!
If you have a moment, please send good thoughts this way. A good friend of mine is dealing with his best friend's end stage moments. They've been seeing him deteriorate quickly the past couple of months, and he's been in a coma since Sunday. He has power of attorney, has to make the toughest decision anyone can ever make. I'm concerned about the strain this is putting on him...
Thanks.
