What's the better pet? And I'm only comparing Cats and Dogs. So keep your birds and fish out of this!
Personally, I prefer dogs. What about you people?

I'm a guinea pig person myself. But dogs or cats, I'd have to say dogs because cats make my allergies go nuts.
If you want to spend lots of time away from the house, get a cat.
Dogs want to hang out with their owner. They get lonely. They need to be groomed and see the vet frequently. Unless you have a small dog, you will need to walk outside in the rain, dark, snow, heat, etc. It's a huge commitment, not to be taken lightly. It's worth it though.
We have 4 cats and a dog, 2 of the cats spat whenever the dog gets near, one just doesn't care about the dog and the other one sits there and plays with the dog, it funny because the cat is so small compared to the dog and yet he always seems to get the best of our dog when they play. I personally prefer dogs though. We used to have a miniature doxin and you'd see her chasing after the cat into the kitchen, then the next minute they'd be racing back in except it was the cat chasing the dog.
If it's a question on what kind of animal I would want as a pet, it would be a cat because you don't need to walk them.
But I like dogs because they're playful, but they're A LOT of work. I'm a bit lazy, so I don't like all that work that dogs require.
Dogs definitely. I don't really like cats and I'm majorly allergic to them. I have an 11 month old puppy named Snickers. He's a Shi-Tzu/Silky Terrier mix and he's adorable! He used to look like an ewok when we first got him. :)
I love all animals and have had both cats and dogs. But I lean more toward cats. I love them and even feed strays. I heard I was called "Cat Lady".
I have both and I love both.....I don't think I could choose.
DOGS! All the way! They're friendly, loyal, loving, smart. But you know what; no matter which you prefer (cats, dogs, or whatever), as long as you care and are giving an animal a loving home and enviornment...that's all that matters. :)

Can't say fish?! Darn!
I guess cats then...they're quiet and just walk around. The dogs that I know need WAY too much attention, and I don't have time to attend to an animal more than myself.

ordinarily I would say dog because I love mine so much but right now it is about 5 degrees outside and I hate that I have to walk him. His name is Sherman. You can see him here: http://www.shermanslave.com
Aw, just like Toto!
i love The Wizard of Oz and love that Sherman looks like Toto!

I'm gonna be representin' the cat lovers here--HOLLA!
I love dogs, but my cats are just sooooo cute and sweet and loving. Plus, living in NYC--it's the best. I had no trouble getting an apt, and I don't have to walk them or feel guilty that they don't have a yard to play in. I could bore you with all the hilarious things they do, but I won't. lol
Know what I'm sayin'? Yo.
Word, yo.
Actually no word, since I like dogs, haha. I find Cats to be unpredictable. Every cat I know has scratched and bit but has also been nice. I can never figure out if they feel like being nice or not.
At least I've never met a dog that changes like night and day. If they are trained well, dogs will normally ne stupidly-kind to everyone and won't change their mind. Of course, there are exceptions, but I'm speaking on account of my own personal experience.
Plus, cats are so snotty.
Now I'm inspired to post a picture of my dog. Hooray, I'm going to go scan it and put it on the fan photos.
My cats are never mean or snotty!! Always loving or shy! =P
marmosets! i gots to have my baby marmosets!!
I have a dog. I love dogs because they love to play around. Cats are kind of boring when it comes to wanting to have fun. My dog Penny (she's 11 years old it has nothing to go with Hairspray just a coincidence) is so much fun the best is we have a squirrel in our back yard that stands on the top of the fence and drives my god nuts. Penny is Little so she can get any where close to it. my mother and I are convinced that the squirrel stands there and laughs at my dog because it does it a few times a day. It's really funny to see.
I vote for ShbrtAlley44's cat/chicken thing.
My cats are funnnnnn! =P
=)
I'm calling the ASPCA!
Honey--this ain't the Neverland of the Animal Kingdom, alraght! =P
In my life I had 2 dogs & 3 Cats
One dog was when I was growing up as a kid. During my adult life,I had another. After that, I took in my neighbor's cat when she moved. Someone than left a kitten on my doorstep ( I at that time lived on the top floor of a 4 story building ) About 5 years later, the first cat developed the feline equivilant of breast cancer. Spent about $ 1 K to have the tumor removed in an attempt to try & save it. The tumor was cut out. Months later, I returned from vacation to find that cat dead ( the tumor had returned). I took it to the vet to have it creamated as I could not merely dump it out with the trash. I than got another. 5 Years later when I got married, I gave both up & found them a good home together, although I did make them younger than they were to get someone to take them
Dogs are great but you have to walk them rain or shine, day or night , summer or winter. Cats are another story. Leave enough food & water & a clean litter box, you can leave them for days on end. I like animals so I have no preference. You do have a little more freedom with a cat though although some cats can be extremely aloof & independent.
If you are going to adopt, get one from the pound as you than stop an animal from being destroyed. If I could have a pet, I would have either one. If I were rich & had a large estate, I would have multiple cats & dogs running free.
