Hello - I realize some posters are less than keen on these topics. I was hoping for some insight on a couple stage door experiences (yes realizing some have not taken place yet) both on crowd control and availability, I will be back in the city in the early winter:
- Queen of Versailles ( does Kristin Chenoweth come out/sign? Also how is the crowd)
- Ragtime (does Caissie levy come out?)
- Chess (does Lea Michele and Aaron Tviet come out sign? Crowd size and calmness?)
- Harry Potter (does Tom Felton sign ? )
I’ve honestly become crowd exhausted with the screams and pushing and stuff. I would love to stage door these, but at the same time if it’s a idina Menzel in if/then situation or Ricky Martin in evita - you wonder why some people have “pre show stage doored” Thanks for sharing your insight and experiences

Way too early to say anything about Chess and Tom Felton. I understand being anxious, but it's way to early to ask. Remember no one is ever obligated to stage door
QOV just had the first show yesterday and Kristin and F. Murray came out but did not sign. It was also absolutely crazy for a myriad of very fun reasons.
Considering she anchors the whole show and isn’t offstage that much, I would not expect her to be signing anything.

My friend and I stagedoored for two different Ragtime shows (first preview and a few days later) and neither Joshua nor Caissie came out. They also didn't come out when I stagedoored at NYCC.
You will see less and less actors' stage door for health and weather reasons as the Fall continues. No one owes anyone an autograph regardless of people thinking otherwise. I will never forget a middle-aged man screaming and stomping his feet when Jeremy and Eva didn't come out last year. Wild.
Not that it means anything, but Chenoweth regularly signed after QOV in Boston.
I went to the first preview of The Queen of Versailles, and the stage door was the most chaotic stage door I have ever experienced, because there were multiple things going on at the same time, there were probably a couple hundred fans crowded together (the barricades were set up vertically rather than horizontally in relation to the sidewalk, if you know what I mean, so the front row of the barricades was short and people were kind of pressed together to be closer to the front), and it was all being filmed for the Queen of Versailles marketing team. It was crazy, but it was also fun. Both Kristin Chenoweth and F Murray Abraham signed some and also passed out french fries and diet Cokes, but I think the focus was on the marketing filming so they didn't do a lot of signing. I saw all of the principals except Stephen DeRosa and most of the ensemble, but I don't know how representative that day was in terms of who is signing and who isn't.
Part of what made it chaotic is that the first preview giveaway was a special 1st preview poster, so everyone had this big poster that was taking up a lot of space. I think getting the poster may have made more people go to the stage door, plus the first preview attendee is probably a big Kristin Chenoweth fan. So I am guessing the stage door won't be as crowded in general.
Sharpie is doing a promotion with a specially branded "Stage Door Sharpie" that they are giving away at the Queen of Versailles stage door until supplies last, which I would l think they wouldn't do if Kristin Chenoweth wasn't planning on doing the stage door at least some of the time, but I may be thinking more deeply about it than the Sharpie marketing team is.
If it was someone I really wanted to see, I’d stop by the stage door about an hour prior to showtime with a bouquet of flowers and maybe a card and hand it to them when they’re heading in. Fantasia was one of the sweetest people to me when I did this, and I’ve had many great interactions with cast using this small token of appreciation.
