Oh Fox, can't you get anything right?

Not a good week for Donald Trump. Over the weekend Seth Myers and Barack Obama make fun of him to his face in a room full of people where everyone laughs and then Obama cuts in to the last 15 minutes of Celebrity Apprentice to announce Bin Laden is dead. No, Trump is not having a good week at all.
This is what happens when I watch DVR;ed programs. I totally missed all of this. Holy crap!
I am surprised no one's mentioned that this took place 8 years to the day after the infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech.
It was the best 1st Anniversary my wife and I could (not) ask for...
But much like Elie Wiesel wrote after the collapse of the Berlin wall. (paraphrasing greatly) While this is great news... it also signals the potential for more evil to emerge...
So they buried him at sea already.
I hope they took plenty of photos and DNA samples first (and I wish I were kidding about that).
If not, you're going to hear a lot about providing "proof," in the next few days/weeks/years.
I have to wonder why they killed him, made sure we all were aware this wasn't an attack against a Muslim but a retaliation against an extreme terrorist, and then buried him at sea quickly, "according to Muslim tradition."
Huh?
Okay, I guess ... as long as you have plenty of proof for the many, MANY groups that are about to ask for it and will refuse to acknowledge it otherwise.
Yeah, like Elvis, and Hitler, and ...
I found that odd too, Besty. But I think it might also be because the body itself is a liability wherever it is for criminal behavior. Perhaps (just throwing it out there) - the best defense against those that would want to claim the body for their own (either good or bad factions) is to eliminate it from existence.
I just think it sounds too fishy (no pun intended) that they buried him at sea already and used the "Muslim faith" as the reason.
I'll bet the U.S. government still has his body, and they don't want anyone to know where it is or come looking for it. So they made it "disappear" publicly.
I'm hearing conflicting reports.Which is it?
White House Reports Bin Laden was asked to surrender before being shot

U.S. Team's Mission Was To Kill, Not Capture

For me it doesn't matter. The man was a world terrorist leader, wanted "dead or alive." Whether they asked him to surrender or not is moot. He needed to be stopped, completely and permanently.

It doesn't matter to me either. I'm just glad the bastard is dead.
In one way, though, I think it does matter.
I'm fine with his having been shot dead. But I do think it's important that we be seen as pursuing justice, not mere vengence (and they're not the same thing).
I agree with Reg. I think there was more to be gained in his capture and subsequent persecution than in his assassination.
Muslim faith says they have to be buried quickly and they can't be cremated. They didn't want to bury the body and have the site turn into shrine for terrorism. I can see the logic in the sea burial.
But had he been captured and taken alive, can you imagine what the Taliban would have done to get him freed?
Jordan, I thought the same thing.
But it doesn't change the fact (for me) that offering the chance to surrender and face justice was the right thing to do.
But yes, I think ultimately this is the better outcome.
Though I know it's impossible, I really wish the media could downplay they jubilation of American's celebrating his death. I remember all too well how INFURIATED people were when seeing images of people in the Middle East celebrating in the streets at the fall of the twin towers on 9/11. The more we celebrate, the more fuel we add to the fire. The figurehead has been killed, but he's really just the tip of a very scary iceberg.
A figurehead living in a cave has been killed. Lets relect Obama solely on that. If so, the American people are more gullible than I thought.
Whahuh? Was Bush's reelection something I just made up in my head? Isn't he the one who couldn't locate Bin Laden on his watch, yet wanted him dead? Didn't 9/11 happen on his watch? Didn't he leverage that to start a phony war we're still waging? Didn't we discover after his reelection his admission of being misinformed and thus, misinforming the American public? Were there really WMDs, but he was just joking with us? Wouldn't Bush's reelection be the very definition of gullibility? To pretend this isn't a feather in Obama's cap and not a slap in Bush's face is more than just a little silly. It's delusional. Sort of like blaming 9/11 on Clinton.
Jordon, you're probably right.
Mister Matt, I agree. But there is a VAST difference between celebrating the deaths of thousands of innocent people and rejoicing at the death of a mass murderer.
Oh, I agree, Reg. I'm just saying the ones we fear certainly will not view it that way and we've seen what they are capable of accomplishing.
Yes, I feel the same way.
I'm glad that president reminded us all that Bin Laden was a murderer of Muslims as well.
Among the many kudos due this administration is the accomplishment of pulling this off over a period of MONTHS without a word leaking to the media. NO ONE in the media saw this coming. In fact, Seth Meyers made a Bin Laden joke at the WHCD Saturday night, and Obama maintained the smile on his face.
The image of Obama sitting there calmly at the Nerd Prom, knowing that he gave the order to capture/kill Osama, is one split screen image I will continue to have in my head.
