I love seeing all the comments about Plushenko's spastic activity. When I was watching, my first thought was, "Why is he being such a SPAZ??" There was simply nothing to support it. His look is MUCH improved since Salt Lake, however. After watching Weir's egocentric interview before his skate, I was expecting something quite edgy and radical. I nearly died laughing when I heard "The Swan"! (I used to be a cellist and simply cannot stand that piece of music) Good skate, but nothing particularly rebellious or outstanding other than the costume, which I found more distracting than artistic. The glove reminded me too much of Michael Jackson. Overall, the evening was a letdown.
Jane2, your post is still there, but it's straddling the page (which is probably why it's disappearing for you).
Mister Matt, I love that piece of music!
Yebin Mok used the same piece of music for her short program at nationals a few years ago and I thought her performance was quite effective.
Dottie-that's weird. Do you know why I'd be the only one not to see it?
Jane2, first click on page 19. Go to the bottom (no post appears). Then click on page 20. Your post should appear at the top of the page.
No, didn't work. It's ok, though, you saw it.
Jane2, this is for you:
"Just remembered something-did anyone see the end of the show last night and you saw Johnny give a little over the top flouncy kind of pose? Very cute, but I think he's getting carried away also. I hope he grows up soon. I vaguely remember that at the start of Sasha Cohen's public career, she had somewhat of an attitude, which she gradually put in check over time." --Jane2
You are such a doll, Dottie!
Anytime, Jane!
Now, back to figure skating chat!

Johnny doesn't bother me in the least. When did he say anything that was egocentric. He merely said that those who didn't support his career early shouldn't get a voice now. I agree 100%. That isn't egocentric, it's just true.

Johnny reminds me of those prep school boys who don't fit in there, so they feel like they're such a rebel and have it bad when they actually have it really good.
I love Johnny's skating and he's right on about some of the things he says. But they all have a hint of self-absorbtion and media whoring.
You don't have to say the words to give off the vibe. Anyway, in this case, it's not being egocentric, it's just immaturity.

I agree Jane. I don't mind the immaturity because he seems young and sheltered (like when he said he didn't know where St. Louis was when Nats was there a month ago...was he serious or kissing up to the camera again?) and he can back it up with great skating. I just wish people wouldn't praise him to be some sort of honesty God fighting against the machine, because he isn't. He's just has an attitude that everything and everybody is against him.
Yes, I think he's trying oh so hard to be the bad boy of skating. Taking himself too seriously though. Not to compare skating skills, but I preferred Phillipe Candeloro as the bad boy back then. At least he was dirty, greasy, smelly, smiley, fun, naughty, but didn't take himself so seriously. the only thing Weird has in common with him is the greasy hair.
I admire Johnny's skill, and I do believe that in time, when he sees this shtick isn't working, he'll grow up.
Jane2, smelly?? (Phillipe Candeloro). I also felt he didn't need to go shirtless either. He just never did it for me. He came off like a bad Las Vegas nightclub act.
Johnny is kinda the bad boy of skating. But rather than being a "rebel" like Elvis Stojko, he's just really gay!
It's not his skating style I don't like, because I LOVE it, but it's more his attitude!
Someone told me "well he's a gay athlete out there doing his thing ect.! You need to like him"
I was like in men's singles, I can pick and choose which gay athletes I like! I don't have to like Johnny just because he's gay!
Timothy Goebel is gay(and if you say he's not, I'll take that bet!)and he comes across much more likable and respectable. Same for Todd Eldridge!
That said, I'm not bashing Johnny, just a general opinion!
However, I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE his exhibition! Sure he wants to make a statement with his "My Way" program. But it's SO BORING!!!!!! That's one of the reason why I can flip the channel during a exhibition!

You know, I kinda forgot the cat fight! When exactly was it again? I know they disagreed about something, but I've forgotten! Refresh me!
You know, I seem to like Sandra and Scott better this Olympics. In 2002, they were EXTREMELY BIASED towards Jamie & David and Michelle Kwan. So now that the two of them are out, I think they are doing better!

It was throughout the competition, but got pretty nasty during Lysaceck I believe. Dick was talking about his technique failing him on the 3axel, while Sandra was like "no, it was nerves" and Dick put her in her place.
BTW, VIETgrlTerifa what did you mean about Jeffery Buttle and Stephane Lambial being your eligible singles?
I'll have to re-watch the tape. I don't know how I missed the cat fight.
VIETgrlTerifa, you mentioned Evan's SP. I thought it looked familiar too. He used it last year, didn't he?

By eligible, I meant Olympic-elgible.
Jeffrey Buttle, Stephane Lambiel, and Daisuke Takahashi are my top 3 favorite men in eligible skating right now.
Ryan Jahnke used to be on that list, but he retired after failing to qualify for Torino...my triangle could've been a square...sigh.

I saw it the past 3 years at Nats, but I heard he used it for the past 5 years.
Oh okay! For some reason, I thought you meant eligible for you to date(and I assume by your Screen Name your a girl!), and I was going to say You might want to think again about Buttle!
BTW, I really liked Jeffery whole thing about not touching the table! He had such a nice look on his face!
What country did Ryan J. skate for? He was really good when he was competing.

oh God MTVMANN...I have a feeling all three of my men are gay. It took a long time for me to see it with Lambiel...but I think he's gay. A friend of mine said that was what his ex-girlfriend, Carolina Kostner, was trying to say with her Long Program last year being about a fairy in a forest.
I had some hope with Daisuke because I was like "is he gay or just Japanese?" Sigh...but he loves window shopping...
Buttle, I knew that the first time I saw him, and he's still a good candidate for a girl to have a crush on because he's sweet looking and non-threatening. My little sister has a crush on him and I felt bad...
