I can understand the ICK-it's weird (pun intended) to see that baby face with that definition.
I think the only channel that is safe is either the Food Network or HGTV until 8pm. I'm even a little hesitant to watch Jeopardy tonight for fear they might have spoilers on the bottom of the screen.
Yeah ... You'd think the news sources would be a little more careful because I'm sure lots of people don't want to be spoiled! I'm horrible, I spoiled myself this afternoon because I keep falling asleep before they show the end of all the events. I'm tired of seeing the middle people every night and never seeing the winners!
I bet you could watch cartoon network, too. :) Just don't go to any news sites online because they all spoil things too!!
Be careful, there's a thread on it.

I never get too involved with figure skating, because my favorites ALWAYS lose. Johnny Weir has brought tears to my eyes with his performances..so has Sasha Cohen but Im betting neither bring home gold and I wouldnt be surprised at least one of them doesnt even medal. The sport is way too reliant on jumps for my taste.
Wow, the Canadian skater, Shawn Sawyer a was amazing. I think he was placed way too low.
here we go again Dottie! i was just about to post my new favorite skater is Shawn Sawyer. they always do that-when a skater is relatively new on the scene, they seem to score them lower.
Whew, Plushy got through it! Now I can relax and watch the rest of them and enjoy!
Eh. That's all I can say for now, out of respect for our friends on the west coast who haven't seen all of it yet.

I'm sorry if I'm spoiling it for you guys on the West Coast...but you shouldn't be here if you didn't want to be spoiled.
BEWARE
Mens LP = Judges hate choreography.
Why the hell have choreography if they aren't going to score the PCS correctly? BTW, Plushenko is a total rock star for doing his job and landing most of his jumps including an incredible 4-3-2!
However, that had to be the worst choreographed piece of crap that has ever won anything in skating. Not only was there no choreography, but he front-loaded his program up the wazoo. You'd think the judges would be smarter. IMO, his PCS score was a bigger joke than any scandal in figure skating prior to that.
That said, congrats Plushy! You deserved the win.
Matt Savoie got hosed in the PCS. His LP is so freakn' awesome that I might've ranked it higher than Lysaceck had 2 of jumps not been downgraded. Speaking of Lysaceck, how awesome was he? He proved why he's the reigning World Bronze medalist! I was so proud of him and he showed the world what he was made out of.
Shawn Sawyer might be the new underrated superstar in skating. That one skater that has all the goods but in underrewarded.
Emmanuel Sandhu's program shows off his danceability very well, IMO. It's a shame about his mistakes, but not surprising at all.
Stephane Lambiel! It wasn't perfect, but coming from a knee injury weeks ago...I'm so proud of him. He has it all...choreography, the quad, and great musicality. He just needs to learn how to control his movement more as to sell the program better and get his triple axel back.
Jeffrey Buttle was so awesome as well. Full of mistakes, but he did what he needed to do to stay in the top 3. Great choreography and great skating. Too bad about the jumps. If only he could jump like Plushenko...if only all the men could.
Johnny Weir...despite his mistakes and losing it to technicalities of COP...I still think Otonal is a beautiful LP. He's capable of so much more both in jumps and in performance and I hope he goes to Worlds to show that he can win a medal at a big international.
Brian Joubert...crappy program and he skated it crappily. The only thing going for him was jumps and well...it wasn't there. I do have to say that his spins improved big time. That's a great step. Now stop the Yagudin imitations because you're a laughing stock now.
Daisuke Takahashi...what happened? I still love that LP so much, but man he got nervous big time. Very reminicist of Worlds 2005, except not as bad. He needs to work on his nerves because I totally seeing him as a future World Champion. I think he's the most musical out of all the top 6 men, and with Weir, Lambiel, and Buttle in that group, that's a huge compliment.
BTW, congrats to Kevin Van der Perren and Ilia Klimkin for coming back from horrible SPs to kick ass LPs.
I was hoping Plushy would have a new program. I saw that LP several times already-probably all season long! It does have more choreography but he chose to eliminate it tonight. I don't know why. Well, even though I didn't like his program the best, he certainly deserved the gold. BTW-those medals look like life preservers.
I liked Shawn Sawyer's skating the most tonight.
As for the contenders, I really enjoyed Buttle, Lysacek and Sandhu's styles. I never paid much attention to them because I was blinded by Plushy, but now I have to broaden my horizons!

BTW guys, sorry I hyped this competition up so much. We've been waiting 4 years for this and the competition wasn't this fierce in the men for a medal in forever. Everyone was so excited about it because if all of the men delievered, we could've witnessed the greatest night of skating ever. What we got a a night full of dissappointment.
I'm so sad about this. First Kwan withdraws and then the men, the one discipline with the most potential to be exciting, competitive, and entertaining was so blah. If that's going to be the best night of skating in Torino...then I don't think I want to watch the coronation Navka/Kostomorov or Irina Slutskaya are going to get.

BTW, I just found out the reason why Daisuke Takahashi didn't win the bronze or place 4th was because his Triple Lutz at the end got zayacked (from the Elaine Zayak rule) and didn't count. Therefore he got a zero for it and thus potentially costing him a medal.
I am a little disappointed for man's LP yesterday.
Plushenko looked so tight, so nervous. Maybe he felt too much pressure from himself. That program is only a collection of jumps. Damn it. Where is the speed and energy and passion and emotion? I always enjoy his performance, but not this one. At least, not as exciting as Yagudin's on last Olympics. I think in last Olympics, he and Yagudin's final competetion was classic.
Jonny Weir's LP is one of the dullest.
My favorites are Matt's Bach and that Canadian guy Shawn Sawyer.
Matt is even better than national. There is drama, emotion, feeling and art everywhere. And I love the flexibility of Sawyer.

Okay, I'm upset that there wasn't a US Man on the Podium! I really am I wanted one!
I was actually wishing Jeffry Buttle to fall!
Okay! Bravo for Matt and Evan! I knew Evan could do it! It's just so upsetting about the short becaue with that LP, he would have medaled. Even with the SP he was 4th!
Plushenko impressed with his jumps, but not elsewhere at all. If that's the way he is going to skate then I wish he would just Retire!
Stephane! He is tears of joy on the medal podium was so touching! It really was! One of the happiest silver medalist in figure skating I've ever seen! I'm so happy the reining WC won silver at the Olympics!
Johnny Weir! I was so upset, really I was. First of all, the stuff that they said at nationals about his LP not getting the kind of applause that he wants came true! Also, since Plushenko and gold was out of reach for everyone, he became the "leader" and he had the same problem that Michelle Kwan has had. His Quads were so good in practice, they even showed a 4-3-3! I guess it wasn't enough. When he just missed that one jump take off I was like "what the heck?" I'm glad he put it back in! I was upset because I really wanted a US man on the podium and I'm sure he is too.
Brian Joubert! A couple of years ago I wouldn't have guessed he wouldn't have won a medal. If his goals are to win the Olympics in singles and pairs, he'll have to wait another time to do it.
***Sasha Cohen has finally found someone that can do spirals as good as she can, and it's Shawn Sawer of Canada!
***Oh and get this, okay I record all figure skating, and I came right in during Ilia Klimkins skate, and get the end of it and then got everything after that. I figured I would catch what I missed during the late night broadcast. Well They start figure skating with the 2nd to last group and didn't show the first group! UGGGGG! And then they showed all the heat of snowboard cross! That makes me mad.
Was Ilia the first skater of the night?
It's nice to know that Silvia Fontana is going to be skating at these Olympics!
"Thank You" Carolina Kostner for getting her that spot at the WC last year! Now she can skate at the Olympics in her home country!
Same for Barbara Fusar-Poli and her partner Maritzio Margalio, 2001 Ice Dance WC and 2002 Olympic Bronze Medalist! I'm glad they are doing this too.
However, if Ice Dance is true to it's form they really shouldn't contend for a medal because the time they have missed, but it will nice to see where they end up. If they really wanted to win gold they should have never retired and I'm sure they know this, so this skate is probably just going to be about pleasing the Italian Fans at home.

Wow...if Kwan competes until 2010...I don't know what I'll do or how I'll survive the next four years.
Don't forget guys...compulsories Ice Dance tonight! I watched some of it on CCTV-5 before they cut it, but I'm spoiled for it. Let's just say you don't want to miss it.
BTW, I'm not sure if Ilia Klimkin was the first skater in Torino Mens LP, but he was the first skater NBC showed. Van Der Perren was after him. I was disappointed in Klimkin because he went safe with this LP...I prefered the woman screaming/baby noise LP he did 2 years ago where he did a reverse direction camel spin to normal camel spin right into a triple salchow.
SEAN SAWYER is my new favorite skater!! can't wait to see more of him.
it will be interesting to see how (or if) the IOC defends the current COMPONENT SCORES after the PLUSHY "no choreography" victory and the Z&Z "could we star over, please?" silver medal.

Re Mary Carillo - I was surprised to see her hosting this show. For those who don't follow tennis, she is a regular commentator on TV covering the US Open and Wimbledon. She is quite good, and is an ex-player. She was even tennis partners in mixed doubles with John McEnroe. When Mary and John are in the booth commentating (he is an excellent commentator), she gives as good as she gets. I think she's one of the few people who can keep Mac in his place.
And I thought Evan was very cute on the show this evening!
Well I like Mary and was glad to see her do the show. I've usually only seen her do the interviews with the skiers, and luge and skeleton athletes!
Ice dancing is on!
I REALLY HOPE that Margarita and Polivas get a medal! She is so pretty!
just re-watched MATT SAVOIE's freeskate. SO beautiful. ok, he bobbles a couple of his jumps, but the rest are gorgeous. and talk about choreography! he does an interesting move before most jumps:
spread eagle - triple axel combination
split jump, forward spiral - salchow
back hydroblade - triple axel
back spiral - lutz combination
back lunge - lutz
and he skates TO the music, not with it. and PLUSHY's "no-choreography" program gets far higher program component scores than MATT's gorgeous work? robbery.
I appreciated Matt's interesting pre-jump moves. Much better than (jump) (several back x-overs) (jump) repeat.
I REALLY wanted Matt to be the Paul Wylie of this Olympics!
I like his LP, but "The Mission" is not my favorite piece of music......despite the fact that I have it. I LOVED how happy he looked when he landed his second triple axel. They mentioned Law School in the fall for Matt, and I couldn't think anything other than this means he's going to retire. It actually makes me kinda sad. But true to Paul Wylie form! Maybe he will decide to stay in competition after his first Olympics and continue to the next one. Matt will be about the same age as Paul was too & and then go to law school like Paul did! Nice Thought!
But he really could have been Paul at this Olympics too. Such a silly mistake in the SP. I mean, Jeffrey Buttle doesn't have a quad......or at least one that he can land!
I'm not sure what to think about that rule about getting points for making the revolutions in the air, but not landing it. On some ways I like it, but other ways I disagree.
But Honestly, I'm not really sure that they has to defend Plushenko's Win. He did "deserve" to win by his jumps, but he didn't do it the way an Olympic Champion should. Evgeny has always been critized for his artistry, but atleast he showed something. Remember his 2001 "Once Upon a Time in America" Routine that he used to win the WC? I liked that routine.
But not these routines. However, if he did his short program to music that suited it, then it would be fine because his big footwork sequence was impressive. It was just completely in contrast to his music. Who knows why the Plushenko team didn't do so.
Really I miss the old Plushenko, I don't like this married one!
Call me Crazy but I miss his flashy costumes, well sorta of. And I miss him doing the Bielmann spin!
