Bovino and some agents are reportedly leaving Minneapolis. Trump is sending Tom Homan in Bovino's stead. For me, I'm cautious re: whether the news of Bovino and agents' departure should be interpreted as good or bad - especially given how corrupt Homan is.

This is absolutely true. ICE serves no legitimate purpose. If undocumented people are committing crimes, then that's exactly what state and local police and the FBI are for. If they're not, then they're welcome to stay here as our neighbors and we should provide a path for them to become fully normalized members of our society.

(I don't agree with your condemnation of esteemed poster John Adams, though. He's a very thoughtful person who happens to be wrong in this case.)

How much am I enamoured with you? laugh

As a demonstration of mutual respect, I will not post re: the "how"s and "why"s re: the origins of ICE some 20-odd years ago, nor the purpose they served during the Obama administration.

I feel pretty certain that blug will appreciate my restraint, also. (2 birds - one stone) wink

They're just replacing one Nazi with another one. It would be like replacing Noeme with Stephen Miller.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

No. You can’t.

Of course you can. I'm probably being generous, but I see the 2016 voters more as naive, ignorant, and stupid. Duped. They should have known better, but they didn't.  Whereas 2024 there is really zero excuse, and I find them downright evil.

I don't believe Highland Guy has moderator status. Ignore him. He really thinks we should all revolve around HIS taste?

The Miller imagery utterly repulsed me, though, I have to say. We have to draw the line SOMEWHERE, John... you wouldn't really... y'know... would you?

You are absolutely being generous - his bigotry and lust for unrestrained power were obvious long before the 2016 election - but generosity is rarely a vice.

Exactly. Only the dumbest of Americans would EVER think that anyone on Earth did not know that man was a rapist, a crook, a racist, a sycophant, a sociopath, a liar, and a f*cking moron before 2016. Wow.

I'm not suggesting that any 2016 voters were correct. All I meant is that "swinging voters" had more plausible deniability back in 2016. Some people don't watch any news, read no newspapers, they were completely ignorant. They believed they were doing the right thing because they were stupid. If they have since seen the error of their ways, I can forgive them. Anybody who has voted for this monster twice, or even three times, are past rehabilitation and will be forever deplorable.

It's not a huge or important point I'm making, and perhaps it is indeed ME being the naive one here.

Highland Guy said: "Don't bring your vulgarities into this thread."

You think the fiction I wrote is "vulgar"?

Wait for the reality of what vulgar acts will happen should Stephen Miller replace Kristi Noeme, now that there’s talk of her impeachment. In Trump’s misogynistic  administration, it makes a difference re: what Miller can do with his “qualifications” that Noeme cannot. …and those qualifications also include white nationalism.

With the exception of Susie Wiles (every little boy needs his mommy), all of Trump’s female appointments to his cabinet are vacuous puppets who seem happy to be held captive in a misogynistic regime.  Kristi Noeme, Karoline Leavitt (one more “K” and we’d have the full set), and Pam Bondi are the most visible. They have done nothing but blindly and blatantly speak what they’re told.

Since she’s never chosen to engage her brain, Noeme has found redeeming satisfaction through her cosplay. Can you name anything she’s done as significantly important as her "Meth. We're on It" campaign from 2019?

As for the remaining female appointees, see if you can name what they do without having to google their names: Linda McMahon (“trick question”. Her department is being dissolved and has been in the process since she was appointed), Tulsi Gabbard, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Alina Habba (another “trick question” - her appointment was ruled unlawful - she resigned in Dec of ’25), Kelly Loeffler, and Brooke Rollins (here’s a hint - her main focus has been on lowering the price of eggs).

So go ahead and condemn the “vulgar” fiction. Wait ’til you see what’s ahead in the real world.

Related news: NPR's "The NPR Politics Podcast" is currently broadcasting a monthly segment meant "to get a sense of what swing voters in swing states are thinking about when it comes to the news." the first segment was broadcast last Thursday, Jan 22nd.

The sampling of swing voters is small; in this first segnment, only 14 people. As reporter Mara Liasson explains, "This is not scientific. It's only a small group of voters, so we're not trying to extrapolate from their feelings to say, aha, public opinion is going in this direction. But we do want to know why they feel the way they do."

Love how you blame the voters but not Hillary Clinton in 2016. Maybe Hillary should not have called half the country deplorables. Maybe Hillary should have actually campaigned in the swing state of Wisconsin. Maybe it was harder to go after Trump with all of his issues because her husband was just as bad. IMO people said WTF in 2016 because they were disgusted by both parties and career politicians.

Finally, Trump has been a public figure since at least the 1980's. He was all over the news with his casino's, TV show buying a football team (NJ Generals) etc. You would have had to live under a rock not to have heard of him and known about his huge ego. His divorces and affairs were front page news for years. In other words, he was a scum bucket. You can thank the Bill Clinton team for telling the American public that you can separate personal behavior from how you do your job. In other words, oral sex in the White House with 21-year-old intern is fine as long as I do my job ok.

HAHA. Holy sh*t, Zeppie is commenting on this thread? That is hilarious. Quick recap:

He voted for Sociopathic Rapist all three times.

He has stated that the 2020 Election was stolen (nawp).

He has defended both Epstein and Trump regarding them raping 12 year old Katie Johnson.

He deflected and talked about a consensual, adult relationship Bill and Monica had.

He incorrectly and stupidly blamed the Democrats for the shutdown last year.

And this was alllll before I blocked him. He is a MAGAT. He is not a good person nor is he smart. He used to end every sentence with lol (not sure if he still is).

We've ran all the other Reds out of here. Drag him. Laugh at him. Block him. Period.

I think this thread would be in agreement on how extreme right wing people could behave better (e.g. don't be racist, stop supporting laws around guns that clearly enable violence, stop imposing christian beliefs on the rest of society, stop electing leaders that are causing chaos within US and internationally, stop consuming biased media and social media algorithms, care more about others etc.).

Do any of the left people in this thread believe there is anything that they, the left wing culture or left wing governments more broadly should have done differently from the years of approx. 2015-2024 to avoid the situation we are in now? In a way that might suggest compromise or acknowledgement of failures not just doubling down.

I'm not.

So if you were chairing a DNC strategy meeting doing a post-mortem on recent years, are you therefore saying you’d argue that there is in fact nothing to reflect on or to improve and that doing so is looking for an excuse for facism?

Do you think Gavin Newsom has changed his political strategy pre vs post election? In what ways and why do you think he has done this? (and I mean ideologically - not just his social media strategy).

Are you saying there is nothing to learn?

You have no idea who I voted for because I never stated it on the thread. Even if I expressed dislike of Democratic candidates, there were 3rd party candidates running. Stop telling lies.

He has stated that the 2020 Election was stolen (nawp).

Wrong again. I said Trump filed cases in the courts about election fraud and lost every one of them.

He has defended both Epstein and Trump regarding them raping 12 year old Katie Johnson.

That is a disgusting lie worthy of reporting you to mods.

He deflectedand talked about a consensual, adult relationship Bill and Monica had.

So, for the record, you are good with Bill cheating on his wife with somebody who worked for him. You don't think due to the age gap and her working for him there might have been an abuse of power. Funny, how you never mention the rape allegations against Bill Clinton.

Heincorrectly and stupidly blamed the Democrats for the shutdown last year.

Both parties could not agree once again on budget. The Republicans in the House passed a clean CR which is the same one Chuck Schumer voted for in March of 2025. The clean CR means it continues the same spending which was agreed upon during the Biden administration. Schumer on the House floor in March 2025 said he could not shutdown the government and that is why he voted for the CR in March. Please inform everyone why Schumer did not want to open the government and continue to negotiate health care issues.

And this was alllll before I blocked him. He is a MAGAT. He is not a good person nor is he smart. He used to end every sentence with lol (not sure if he still is).

If you blocked me, please let us know how you knew I posted on this thread. Did HG tell you? The guy who trashed you in a thread and now acts like he is your BFF.  He stated you told lies about him and implied you should be ignored. At least, I never lied and said a person on this board threatened to kill me. The moderator of the board verified you lied. Your PM at that time sounded like an unhinged person and on this thread, you went "nuts" on poster "John Adams". In that PM, you also said you were going to ignore me and my posts, lied again "Sutton.  Unlike you, I treat people on this board with respect even while we disagree most of the time.

It's none of your business what occurs in our Country regarding politics. You are not a Citizen and you will never be a Voter. You are a fascist, a racist, and went on a 96 hour manic rant defending Charlie Kirk (remember that stupid, insane, honor less, classless, racist, pathetic, spineless, cowardly, sick piece of Nazi trash?) and anyone who disagreed with you was called a "domestic terrorist".

I hope no one engages with you regarding this, or any other issue, after this. You are not worth it.
