If you are just dying to release all the facts of the force awakens just say it here so I can know everything.
Why don't you just go see the movie? The film is pretty much just a rehash of episode 4. I was pretty underwhelmed with it actually. It Lacked creativity and just tried to be the original film without having the balls to be something other than what it worshiped. JJ Abrams is the epitome of mediocre directors.

Mark Hamill gave the most stellar performance; I really think this could be his year to win an Oscar.
Han Solo's character contributed nothing to the movie whatsoever, and it's clear that he was just there for fanservice purposes. I'm disappointed.
Out of all the new characters, I think Rey is the most interesting. There's a lot of evidence presented in the film that points to her parentage; her father, I think, is Jar Jar Binks.
Drugs have not been kind to Carrie Fisher's voice. Yikes.
BB-8 is actually R2-D2's little brother. We get to explore this relationship sometime in the middle of the story.
Kylo Ren is Luke Skywalker.
Mark Hamill? With an OSCAR!?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
takes breath
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
When you see the movie, you'll know what I mean.

And her mother is the midi-chlorians.
I loved every freaking second of it, unabashedly.
I mean, the original star wars films weren't even very good to begin with. Entertaining sure, but nothing more than fun and decent.

Episode IV got nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars and won six other Oscars.
^ Do you think every movie that got a Best Picture nomination is good?
No.
Let me guess - those of you saying this wasn't a good film like those small indie films that are pretentious as hell and make no sense as opposed to a movie clearly made for the masses' entertainment. What's wrong with fan service, especially in a movie as entertaining as this Star Wars was?
^Amen.
I laughed, I cried, I held my breath. The best part? My 15 year old son reaching out to hold my hand from excitement during the film. Twice.
I haven't seen it, but I have seen all 3 Star Wars movies and Mark Hamill is just a bad actor. I will see this one and try to be objective.
And what pretentious indie movies are you referring to?
Also I think the masses and fans need a movie similar to the original in order to eradicate the terrible prequels.

There are six, well now seven.
The prequels don't exist. They are just an illusion.
Hamill has never been great shakes as a film actor, but usually adequate to the demands of his material. However, he is considered one of the greatest voice actors of his era, and his portrayal of The Joker across the Batman franchise for almost thirty years is considered definitive by many.

Yes, OBVIOUSLY all the people that didn't like the film, didn't like it because we're small indie lovers that are tired of big commercial films. THAT MUST BE IT! No other explanation...It's impossible for someone to dislike the new star wars films....absolutely unthinkable....
No but really, It has nothing to do with anything you just said. I after all am a giant Lord of the rings nerd. Fan service is fine for a film but not when your entire film is just fan pandering. Which is literally all this film was. There was absolutely no creativity in it whatsoever. Just rehashed iconic scenes from the original films played out in this film with different characters. And for the love of God, how many times have they blown up that stupid death star? Can we please find a more creative finale ? I mean really.....this film was just one big mediocre rehash.

I feel like you missed the point of the movie. Yes, they blew up the "Death Star" again (it wasn't one, but that's not the point), but that was SO not the focus nor the point of the end of the movie. The Star Killer or whatever it was called was background to the real climax - Rey's fight with Kylo Ren. I could be wrong, of course, but I am assuming the importance of that fight hasn't been revealed to us yet. I'll bet there's more to the relationship between those characters than we've seen so far. Those are great characters - Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren -- and the focus was on them as it should have been.
I also agree with the above poster who said that the fan service was needed for this after the really terrible prequels (I'm surprised they didn't just kill the franchise entirely, honestly, considering how bad they were). Now that they've brought us back, they can go into more creative territory in the upcoming films.
I unabashedly enjoyed the film, as did most Star Wars fans I've talked to.
And for the record, I thought The Lord of the Rings trilogy was overblown, overlong, and frankly about three hours of good movie for its 12 hour running time.

I love pretentious indie films that make no sense. I don't want any truth or sense in my movies.
Guys, Elfuhbuh's comment about Mark Hamill was a joke. You'll get it when you see the movie.
Mark Hamill should win an oscar for this role! The whole film should win all the awards!
