Wow, 'The Adventures of Titin' pulls an upset over 'Rango'.

Madonna gave the only Best Director speech she'll ever get to make, after winning Best Song.

Dustin Hoffman needs a cup of coffee.

I can't be the only one distracted by Paula Patton.
1.) How drunk is she?
2.) Why is she sitting at the front table with Spielberg?
3.) Why does she feel the need to stand up for everyone?
4.) How drunk is she?

Perfect!

Happy about Midnight in Paris!

So not loving Madonna. (Take your fake accent and go home)

VERY happy for Claire Danes!

I'm really disappointed anyone else in the Best Actress-Drama category didn't win. I mean, Claire Danes?? really

I'm so happy for Octavia Spencer! :)

She was AMAZING in 'The Help'!

ETA: It was sweet to see Melissa McCarthy look so happy for her.

Really, she was great in a role that with many other actresses could have gone way done south.

ETA: Never mind what I originally wrote. I was worrying about nothing. Yeah for 'Modern Family'!

I also think Steven Levitan was making fun of Ryan Murphy when he said, "and Sexy".

I stand by my original comment.

What did they censor from Meryl's speech?

And I may need to see The Artist just for that dog.

Golden Globes - and now The Show!

I was wondering how much Meryl would test the producers patience - anyone else would've been played off much earlier!

I'm really happy for the estates of Adler and Ross, but if they play that damn "Whatever Lola Wants" Diet Pepsi commercial one more time tonight, I'm going to throw something.

I didn't expect Meryl to win, but congrats to her. Not suprised that Clooney or 'The Descendants' won.

I guess I enjoyed the show, but that's three hours of my life I'll never see again.

The only reason I watched this show was to see Gervais.

Last year he caught everyone by surprise, and achieved a succès de scandale.

This year, with everyone now expecting just that, there was no surprise, no scandal, and no success.

I guess lightning doesn't strike twice.

Golden Globes - and now The Show!

He was funny, but not nearly as brilliant as last year. I'll agree-- lighting doesn't strike twice.

Golden Globes - and now The Show!

I thought Gervais was very funny, but perhaps they reined him in a little.

Howled over Bowie wannabe Tilda Swinton. oy vey.

Can't believe The Descendants won.

To the person who liked the dog from the Artist-that dog (named UGGY) stole the film!

Happy about Octavia Spencer!

I am so thrilled Clooney and THE DESCENDANTS won tonight. Here's hoping those awards are repeated at the Oscars.

Golden Globes - and now The Show!

I think Clooney and The Descendants is wildly overrated.

I am thrilled Laura Dern won. She is unbelievably good in Enlightened.

"It was sweet to see Melissa McCarthy look so happy for her."

McCarthy not only looked very happy for Spencer, but she was so moved by Spencer's speech, she was in tears. And not just crocodiles.

Scorsese was the shock of the night.

Wish Meryl would have included Kirsten Dunst in her litany of great performances by women this year, but it seemed like she forgot many she wanted to mention.

Scorsese's move Hugo is a big head-scratcher for me.

I found it so skewed. Visually, it's stunning. But we're supposed to care deeply that this old man (Melies) isn't remembered for all the work he did in his life. Tell that to 99 percent of the population at large. The "old men" out there who work hard every day anonymously (painters, poets, furniture makers, architects) and die forgotten. This is a movie, ultimately, about fame and how important it really is. (???)

"Remember me? I used to be somebody!" It's such a whiny message and shallow goal to achieve. Who cares? They remember or they don't, a hundred years from now. Get on with your life and do the best you can.

I honestly think this was all about Scorsese suddenly feeling "mortal" and worrying about the longevity of his own special interests (film restoration and preservation, clearly) and his own legacy as a film director (will they remember me and clap for me in a big fictional auditorium in the end?).

As far as "general entertainment" goes, Hugo is weak and slight. Not too mention the plot outside the Melies sideline was also mildly sweet, cutesy cartoonish, and hugely forgettable.

But the 3D was good.
