Thoughts: 'Kung Fu Panda 2' should have been nominated for Best Animated Film instead of 'Cars 2'. 'Parks & Recreation' should have gotten Best Television Comedy instead of 'Glee'. Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell from 'Modern Family' were snubbed. I wish that 'The Muppets' and 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' would've gotten a nomination for Best Film Comedy. I wish 'Once Upon a Time' got a nomination for Best Television Drama.

COMMUNITY shut out again. Golden Globe nominations

Yay for NEW GIRL!

YAY for Jessica Lange!

50/50 and MY WEEK WITH MARILYN were comedies? Guess I missed the memo on that...

I agree - Park&rec over Glee. But I guess they still needed a reason to get all of the kids on the red carpet. At least Amy got the acting nod, though it will totally be won by Zooey. I like her and New Girl but dont think it is as great.

No Community Golden Globe nominations no SOA Golden Globe nominations

I'm shocked about Eric over the rest of the guys. I dont think Cam has had the best material this season compared to Phil, Mitch and Jay.

I love 30 Rock but last season was not as good as past seasons, so I think their nods should have gone to others.

YAY AHS and Revenge getting an acting nod.

BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless

How do the figure My Week With Marilyn is a Musical or Comedy, how silly. Pleased for Williams though. Thrilled for Revenge, gutted not to see Katy Segal nominated for Sons of Anarchy. Well done to Madonna as well on 2 noms for W.E for Score and song.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

"50/50 and MY WEEK WITH MARILYN were comedies? Guess I missed the memo on that..."

I guess some of these voters are the same people from last year who thought 'The Tourist' was a comedy. I do hope the voters don't make the same mistake of voting for 'Glee' as Best television Comedy over 'Modern Family'. I also wish that 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2' got some nominations.

Trying to figure out why/how the HFPA categorizes certain films is pointless. They probably consider MY WEEK WITH MARILYN a musical because Michelle Williams sings a song and dances a bit. I don't consider THE ARTIST a comedy, either. Sure, there are a few laughs, but calling it a comedy is really stretching it.

Speaking of THE ARTIST, I'm still not sure why Bejo has been considered a Supporting Actress by both SAG and HFPA. I'm glad she's being recognized, but it's a leading performance. If she were considered leading, it would have left a space in Supporting for McCarthy.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Congrats to Tilda, Kid With A Bike, and A Separation - Three of my companies films that got nominated.

I agree that Kung Fu Panda 2 definitely should have been nominated instead of Cars 2.

New Girl?!?!?! WTF?!?! I like Zooey Deschanel, but I feel almost embarrassed for her in that show. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I think even Whitney is more interesting and funny. Ugh.

Boo for both Melissa McCarthy snubs.

Ditto that.

And I really enjoy Revenge, but...Madeleine Stowe? Huh?? I'm really at a loss with that one. I give that a Barbara Walters/Herman Cain, "WHAT?!"

Boo for McCarthy snubs.
Boo for Parks and Rec only getting one nod.
Boo for none of The Muppets songs being nominated.

At least there's the Oscars.

"At least Amy got the acting nod"

I'm very glad about that. I love her on the show and I've been a fan of her's for years.

1. I loved My Week With Marilyn, but it was by a comedy at all. It's The Artist's award to lose. I am surprised The Artist was called a comedy (I'm guessing because it's a musical?)
2. So happy for the NEW GIRL and Madeline Stowe nods. Mazel! Sad to see more snubs for PAN AM, ONCE UPON A TIME, COMMUNITY, RAISING HOPE, and the last season of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.
3. No MUPPETS song nods?

Now, what I want to know is if "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" is turning out to be a dud or if it has been shut out of all these awards because the committee didn't have time to see it.

Or are people purposefully ignoring Scott Rudin for keeping his 2 big films under the radar. ( The other being GIRL....TATTOO) for way to long. After last year when "SOcial Network" started losing its buzz and "The Kings Speech" came in at the last minute.

Golden Globe nominations

THE IRON LADY, CARNAGE, GIRL...TATTOO, ALBERT NOBBS, and WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN have all received nominations and they're not out yet (aside from KEVIN's one-week qualifying run). Why would it be any different with EXTREMELY LOUD? What good would it do Rudin to intentionally NOT provide screeners? Perhaps it's just not a good movie.

After a reviewer Reviewed " ..Tattoo" early Rudin banned critics from seeing "Extremely Loud" early and threw a bitch fit.

Plus, Extremely Loud didn't start screening until this past weekend. The rest of the films have been screening for a few weeks and performed at festivals, etc.

Perhaps it isn't good, you are right.... I just had hopes that with Stephen Daldry's track record... that this would be something great. I love the book, and I figured if anyone could do it, it would be Daldry. He sure does know how to tell a story. IMO.

I was aware of the fallout after Denby's review was published, but wouldn't SAG and HFPA nominators be given screeners?

Just reading the blurb to Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close makes it sound like the kitchen sink of quirky somber dramas. I like Stephen Daldry (The Reader was the only film I wasn't thrilled with), but I really hope the film is far less cloying than this description:

A nine-year-old amateur inventor, Francophile, and pacifist searches New York City for the lock that matches a mysterious key left behind by his father, who died in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

That alone makes me want to wait until I eventually play this on Netflix while I do some laundry and vacuuming.

Not a single one of the Best Drama Series nominees was from a broadcast network.

That's disturbing.

(I also happen to think that The Good Wife is better than at least 3 of the nominees they chose.).
#22

Golden Globe nominations

So bummed about The Good Wife not getting nominated but at least Julianna did.

Also I'm all about Shailene Woodley this awards season.
#23

Golden Globe nominations

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is a wonderful book, but it will take an awful lot of restraint to make it a less than schmaltzy movie. The fact that they cast Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks does not bode well.
#24

Golden Globe nominations

I am getting so tired of being outraged by the Globes whacked out choices, but they make it so easy.

Just on the TV side, Breaking Bad not up for Best Drama, after the season it had, was particularly egregious. Aaron Paul and Giancarlo Esposito each could have easily been nominated for the Supporting Actor category (Cinema Verite and Too Big to Fail were not that memorable and in Giamatti's case, his performance was easily forgettable). And even as a fan of Glee, no, there are plenty of good comedies that could have taken its place.

I am just glad Gleeson got nominated. The Guard was dark fun.

And in the category of right actor, wrong performance, Ryan Gosling should be nominated for Drive and not Ides of March.

It is a shame Winnie the Pooh has been ignored for Awards season in favor of the inferior Cars 2 (and this will be a rare time I say this, but damn you, Lasseter!).

EXTREMELY LOUD was nominated for Critics Choice awards, so it has been seen. I'm guessing it might just not be that good, or not as good as the other nominated films. The trailer sure makes it look like ten pounds of sugar in a five pound bag.
