Ditto for the 1st present for an actor. Glad he liked it (I knitted a scarf and sent pencils lol).
I hope Greg is around long enough for me to earn money to go to NY (I'd like to by January, but I may have to wait til spring break or longer).
I loved him in DRS when I saw it back in August. I also just watched Midsummer Nights Dream the other day which I didn't realize he was in.
i see someone mentioned friends already, i figured out he was in that right after i saw DRS, so i was very upset that he was in the 10th season and that wasn't out on DVD(since i do own all the seasons) but then i remembered that he had one seen in the flashback episode before the series finale, so i watched that and it made me VERY happy
so if you haven't gotten it from this post, i am a big greg jbara fan(my myspace pic is of me and him!)
i saw him on tues but missed him wed. and will miss him today (today being thurs. stupid classes. lol) but I did like him on Tues. really funny and odd to see him as that character after seeing him in real life and seeing him in DRS and such. but still liked it. night all!

Thought I'd post here that my Broadway Cares "Carols for a Cure" CD arrived at my door day, right on schedule, and I have now listened (solely) to Gregory Jbara and Rachel de Benedet's rendition of O HOLY NIGHT umpteen times ... it is just amazing. I'll listen to the rest of the cd once the holiday season is "officially" underway after Thanksgiving, but for now this is the only song I want to hear on the CD. It's already brought me to tears, literally, and not in a bad way ... just from the sheer beauty of the combination of fantastic voices on an already beautiful song.
Though this song has long been a favorite of mine I'd never, until now, felt prompted to research its history. It's pretty fascinating when you look into it ... originally written as a poem by a French wine seller at the request of his parish priest, it was then set to music by a Jewish composer.
Anyway, for me, this song alone makes the CD well worth the $25 I spent to order it, and knowing the money helps a great cause is even better.
Highly recommended! I'm sure I'll enjoy the rest of the CD too, but not sure any other songs on it are going to have the overall emotional effect this one does on me.
Greg Jbara is awesome! :)

Just wanted to let Greg's fans at BWW know that his episode of HIGGLYTOWN HEROES is airing for the first time on Disney Playhouse (Disney Channel) on January 16 at 7:30 AM eastern. The ep. is titled "Kip Gets Swing Fever," and Greg voices the character "Hero Tree Trimmer." (BTW, Rachel York does the voice of "Bitty" on the series.)
Coincidentally one of Greg's Grounded For Life episodes from early 2004 ("Racketman") is airing the same day, at 4:30 PM eastern on ABC Family. (Greg as next door neighbor Dan O'Keefe.)
As always with tv listings, "schedules are subject to change," but the above info is accurate to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks so much, Barb. I really want to try and get a ticket for Greg's final performance on 7/23. (I'd love to get a seat up front, but they aren't on sale yet.) Do you know if that will also be Norbert's last day? If the two of them are leaving the same day, tickets will go very fast.
I think I see a trip back to NYC sometime in late July...

Mamie, I honestly don't know re. Norbert. Sorry.
I'm actually a pretty poor source of info when it comes to the show in general and the rest of the cast other than Greg. :)
Man: You sit here, dear.
Wife: All right.
Man: Morning!
Waitress: Morning!
Man: Well, what've you got?
Waitress: Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam; spam bacon sausage and spam; spam egg spam spam bacon and spam; spam sausage spam spam bacon spam tomato and spam;
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam...
Waitress: ...spam spam spam egg and spam; spam spam spam spam spam spam baked beans spam spam spam...
Vikings: Spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam!
Waitress: ...or Lobster Thermidor a Crevette with a mornay sauce served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
Wife: Have you got anything without spam?
Waitress: Well, there's spam egg sausage and spam, that's not got much spam in it.
Wife: I don't want ANY spam!
Man: Why can't she have egg bacon spam and sausage?
Wife: THAT'S got spam in it!
Man: Hasn't got as much spam in it as spam egg sausage and spam, has it?
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam... (Crescendo through next few lines...)
Wife: Could you do the egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam then?
Waitress: Urgghh!
Wife: What do you mean 'Urgghh'? I don't like spam!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!
Vikings: Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up! (Vikings stop) Bloody Vikings! You can't have egg bacon spam and sausage without the spam.
Wife: I don't like spam!
Man: Sshh, dear, don't cause a fuss. I'll have your spam. I love it. I'm having spam spam spam spam spam spam spam beaked beans spam spam spam and spam!
Vikings: Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!
Waitress: Shut up!! Baked beans are off.
Man: Well could I have her spam instead of the baked beans then?
Waitress: You mean spam spam spam spam spam spam... (but it is too late and the Vikings drown her words)
Vikings: (Singing elaborately...) Spam spam spam spam. Lovely spam! Wonderful spam! Spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam spa-a-a-a-a-am spam. Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Lovely spam! Spam spam spam spam!

I was at last night's performance. Greg and DRS remain in terrific shape. The show is still tremendously funny and enjoyable (even after 3 viewings). Norbert was out and Jason Gillman gave a fine comic performance a Freddy. Greg and Joanna remain a sexy couple. Jason and John were pretty sexy together, too. Sheri sill wows. The audience was widely enthusiastic, with a very large crowd waiting at the stage door. Greg is his usual talented, charming, sexy self.

3 times ... that's so cool, José! And even better that you still find Greg's performance and the show in general so enjoyable.
Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, such as the love thread, but I happened to check Seth's Broadway Chatterbox site a few hours back and was pleased to see that they are now offering a dvd of Greg's interview from back in ... I think it was Spring of last year (but I might be off on that ... anyway, it's been a while). Info for ordering is at Seth's site; link below.
I'm also promoting this from Greg's site and am encouraging people to please not burn copies to sell or give away ... the profits from the sales go to BC/EFA, so everybody please buy the dvd and help support a great cause at the same time. Thanks!! - Barb

Greg's HIGGLYTOWN HEROES episode repeats on Saturday, January 21, same time as on the 16th (7:30 AM ET, Disney).
Oh, and by the way, there's a nifty photo up in "Friends of André" section of Greg's site -- Greg, José, and José's mom. :)

I assume that Greg and the family will be heading back to California once his contract is up at DRS. Is there any word or hint as to what his next job might be? I hope we don't have to wait too long to see him again!

Mamie, this press release should help answer your question. :)

Thats a good article...but sad. I figured Greg would move back to LA once he was done with DRS but i never really thought about it.
i wonder if he will miss the cam days and all his crazy fans
Broadway Legend Joined: 8/14/04
Ali, I'm sure he will miss the cam days. As for missing his crazy fans - - well at least you can all stay in touch with him via email; I'm sure Greg would appreciate that.
He really does appreciate his fans -- always has, wherever his career has taken him.
Can you imagine being on vacation this summer.......and mybe stopping to get gas in Nebraska....and the car next to you has Greg Jbara in it?
I do think he sees his future in films.......but also I think he's one of the few who will not just make that change, but will always go back to Broadway when the right part presents himself. He was amazing in DRS......as mentioned before we saw it in San Diego, and the only one not in the show that day was Joanna........but Greg more than made up for it, as I discovered him........
I have recently become a fan of Greg's after hearing Mamie talk about how wonderful he is to his fans. Any man with that kind of connection to his fan base is a gem in my book. He's a great actor to boot.

he really is a great guy. i mean, i've gotten to know him as a performer and just as a regular guy, and let me tell you, he is fantastic on stage and off. Mamie doesn't exaggerate with anything..everything she says is true. he treats all of his fans like gold and i'm sure he will miss us even though we can be a little crazy sometimes. but who are we kidding...so can he!
its just sad to think about the cam going away and not being able to just go into the city and say hi to him...i dunno. i guess over the past months its gotten so "normal" to have the cams and to have him in the show. eh. change can be good
barb,
i think this is a wonderful thread idea (and yes i am a little late with the feedback! 7 pages late actually! :) )
i enjoy posting on the love thread but sometimes i feel really left out and like no one really wants me there. which is sad because i didn't know it was a CLUB. i just think gregory is fabulous.
i've only heard him in DRS but *will* be seeing the show in april. and i can't wait. i saw the out of towners when it first came out but i don't remember it. (all i know is i liked the pretty lady from laugh in, as i called her!)
i only heard of gregory jbara because i knew joanna gleason was in DRS. and my friend saw the show while she visted NYC while they were in previews. she played me the soundtrack once it came out and i just went head over heels for greg's voice. and let me just say when joanna gleason is involved, it's amazing if i notice anythign BESIDES her. the woman is a god. but greg's voice just really made me melt. and then there was chimp in a suit. i play it on loop to this day sometimes!
i am so excited to see/hear more of his work.
and his love and appreciation of his fans is so, so wonderful. he is a very charming man. i cannot wait for april!
