barb,
i think this is a wonderful thread idea (and yes i am a little late with the feedback! 7 pages late actually! :) )
i enjoy posting on the love thread but sometimes i feel really left out and like no one really wants me there. which is sad because i didn't know it was a CLUB. i just think gregory is fabulous.
i've only heard him in DRS but *will* be seeing the show in april. and i can't wait. i saw the out of towners when it first came out but i don't remember it. (all i know is i liked the pretty lady from laugh in, as i called her!)
i only heard of gregory jbara because i knew joanna gleason was in DRS. and my friend saw the show while she visted NYC while they were in previews. she played me the soundtrack once it came out and i just went head over heels for greg's voice. and let me just say when joanna gleason is involved, it's amazing if i notice anythign BESIDES her. the woman is a god. but greg's voice just really made me melt. and then there was chimp in a suit. i play it on loop to this day sometimes!
i am so excited to see/hear more of his work.
and his love and appreciation of his fans is so, so wonderful. he is a very charming man. i cannot wait for april!

ohhoney_ ... so glad you've become a Greg fan! I agree about his voice, btw! :)
Mamie ... of COURSE we're gonna keep everyone uptodate regarding Greg's career via his web site. He is amazingly great about keeping his webmaster informed. So no worries about that at all!
Barb
meghan, hate to say this, but it is CAST RECORDING...not SOUNDTRACK. it's gets on people's nerves more than mine, but i still don;t like it. Really sorry, but had to correct you. lol.
OH MAN. i can't believe i put that. i never ever call it a soundtrack in real life. what is it about keyboards that make us spew out the most random...*mumbles on*
it;s ok. haha, i know what you mean. don;t worry. and don;t worry about meeting greg.

Thanks, Malki! :) I'm glad you like the web site.
I have to agree with you ... "sweet" describes Greg to a T!
Love the photo of the family with Greg on stage. Thanks for sharing it with us for Greg's web site!
Barb, it was my pleasure. We had a great time with Greg. He was so gracious, showing us the theater, explaining how things worked and answering our questions. I have 5 kids but only 2 were there that night. Greg has told me that I can bring the others another time. They all want to meet him after hearing how nice he is. I have to tell you that I never expected him to email me. Since I am pretty new to all that is Greg I didn't realize that he actually did that. It is so unusual for someone in his position to take such a personal interest in his fans, which is only one of the reasons to love him. I just hope that he really doesn't mind if I continue to email him. I don't think he would ever tell me to stop but I don't want to annoy him.

Malki, I'm certain that he doesn't mind at all!
Greg fields quite a lot of email from fans. Every now and then he may get a little behind on it; if it sometimes takes him a while to respond, that's probably why.
While I'm on the thread, tv reminder: Grounded For Life: "Your Father Should Know" is on tomorrow (Wed. 3/at 4:30 on ABC Family. Followed Thursday at 4:00 by "Your Father Should Know (Extended Remix)". With Greg in his recurring role on the series as Dan O'Keefe!

Malki, no worries ... you're not about to annoy him or anything close, I'm sure. (Greg is a cool guy; it takes a lot to bother him!)
You do bring up a good point. Emailing Greg is like emailing anybody else. Sometimes an email just doesn't necessarily warrant a response, and same applies here.
My sense of you is that you yourself are far too nice to be annoying. So again, no worries ... have fun emailing with Greg! :)
Thanks! As a mother of 5 my life is a rollercoaster ride. Every once in a while something comes along that catches my interest and keeps me sane. Right now it's Greg. One can't live on carpool, homeowork, Dr. appointments, food shopping and cooking alone. Luckily I have a wonderful husband who puts up with my little "obsessions". It also gives my kids something to tease me about. Before Greg it was Hugh Jackman so now my kids ask me "who do like better Greg or Hugh?" or, when they want me to get off the computer or just leave the room they say "Greg and Hugh are downstairs singing for you, hurry or you'll miss it!"
"Greg is a cool guy; it takes a lot to bother him!"
Oh, I'm proof of that
But Malki, I understand how you feel--you sound a LOT like me, especially when I first met Greg and such. I would want to e-mail him or stop by the stage door but I always really nervous I was bothering him (or others) too much but especially in the beginning he constantly reassured me that I'm always welcome to stop by the stage door or e-mail or whatever. I think we all feel that way at some point or another, and I've heard wonderful stories aside from me of Greg reassuring people about those things
Barb, too nice to be annoying? I've never heard of that. Actually I'm usually told I have fairly equal levels of both.
Then again I'm a younger sister. It must be a law that we have to be somewhat annoying.
Thanks, Wickedrentq, I am glad to know that I am not the only one. The truth is, when we were with him, I said something about emailing him and he was fine about it. I just don't want him to ever feel like I am a nuisance.
Me again. I will be late to the webcam watching today because I have to take 2 kids to the Dr. for strep cultures at 2:00. (My house should be under quarantine). I am going back to work this morning (I am the official Lunch Lady at my kids school) for the first time in a week. So say hi to Greg for me and have fun.
Malki
Again, took me a while to learn this, and it sounds weird, but the truth is I think in this situation, at least with Greg, if you're overly concerned with being a nuisance, there's no way you would ever be one
Where is everyone? Am I the only one watching Greg today? I just got home. No strep! I thought there would be others here.

Malki ... GregCam talk goes on in the current "love thread" ...
just came on here and not sure how many are posting there right now. Not everybody watching the cam necessarily participates here on BWW. But anyway, yeah ... the love thread is where the viewers on cam day hang out. :)
Greg Jbara Love Thread - hope I did the link right!
Thanks Barb. I went over there but they don't seem to really talk about Greg anymore. I prefer this thread. But I'm still watching.

I hear ya!
Nice group shot at half time, did you see it? It'll be on the highlights later. Had Rachel York and some ensemble folk.
I saw it. I recognized Rachel but I don'r recognize the rest yet. I keep searching for Greg's wine but no luck.
And I love his brushing and flossing!

Same here on that wine Greg's shown us. Last cam, I searched and could find something (but not much) about Trentino Merlot, but not 2002 ... and what I *don't* know about wines could fill volumes, so I decided to give up. :)
I also searched but did not find. I keep trying to read the rest of the label but it's not clear. I don't know much about wine either.
Hello folks. My PC became deathly ill yesterday morning. I had to wait till late today before I could get a PC doctor out here to look at it. As a result, I missed the cam yesterday.
FYI Malki - I almost always watch the cam (except for Wed afternoons when I'm at work) but I don't usually post anything. I believe there's LOTS of fans of Greg's who watch his cam faithfully but don't go anywhere near BWW!
I thought this was interesting, so I copied it. It appeared on an old message board back in 1998. I would LOVE to have been in that audience and seen this Jbara performance! (The subject of the thread was bad audience behavior).

I recall seeing a performance of FOREVER PLAID in New York City at Steve McGraw's with the cast (the second cast that had also been touring before coming to NYC and replacing the original cast) that had Gregory Jbara playing Smudge. It was a Sunday matinee and a busload of high school students had been brought in for this performance. It wasn't bad enough that they were 20 minutes late (for a sold-out performance) and the show had to be held up for close to a half hour, but once the show started they wouldn't shut up! It was terribly rude for the performers let alone annoying to the rest of the patrons.
After about a half an hour of the show had progressed, Greg Jbara actually stopped the show, stepped out of character (something I've never seen in any cast, but definitely called for) and literally read those kids the riot act. I think they got the message and were also embarassed to have been singled out and address in front of the rest of the audience. After the show resumed they behaved quite well and even gave the cast a "hooting" standing ovation for which the cast seemed to enjoy immensely. I always wondered where the supervision for this group was during the performance since the group of kids took up the entire upper level of the space and not one adult was in sight. What amazed us the most was that when the group entered they all looked so well-dressed and well bred. They were from either a prep school or a private school because they were all in school uniforms. But it all worked out in the end and they were invited by the cast to wait for them them change and they all had a chance to chat for a few minutes with them and get autographs and photos.
Mamie,
I am very new to all of this (Greg, the webcam, BWW) but I get it now. I just thought that they would actually talk about Greg on the Love thread. Oh well! I belong to a few Hugh Jackman boards and although we do have OT threads, we mostly talk about Hugh. I realize now that BWW is different. Truth is, a lot of the discussions on the love thread make me feel VERY old. LOL
As for the story you posted. I would have loved to see Greg in something else and I can only imagine how bad those kids were for him to have gone out of character like that to reprimand them. One of the things I love about Greg as an actor is his ability to change his persona so completely and convincingly. What I love about him as a person is a whole other story.
What's really terrific about that story is that after he was forced to go out of character and lay it into them, they kept quiet and watched the show and were completely blown away by the performances. Then the same cast (that probably wanted to stone them earlier) then met with them after the show. I'll bet that more than a few life-long theatre fans were born that night!
As far as the other thread goes - you're right. They are very young and very much tied up with school and all the other priorities that come at that age. They started out as being 100% Greg fans and they only talked about Greg and the cam. Then gradually they started moving over to other members of the cast and then other people in other shows. Now more than 90% of the time is spent on school and other matters and Greg is usually only mentioned as an add-on at the end of the message. It doesn't mean they aren't real fans of his - it just means they also have about a million other priorities that get their attention. They just use that thread for talking to each other. I've lost interest in it myself. That's the main reason I love this thread. It's nothing but Greg news and chat!
