Well, I think I was offered a free ticket to Martin Short on Tuesday, so that would kind of remove both those options.
Eh, I certainly wouldn't call myself a hardcore Chorus Line fan. If a time comes when I'm like I want to see this show NOW, I'll do standing room. But for now...I really want to see it but it's like if I'm patient I won't hafta get up early and will get a seat. So we'll see.
I saw Borat tonight. Soo funny. And honestly kinda disturbing.
Ahh Companyyy. December 9 needs to come faster.
Raultastic.
i'm excited about Company.
the cam has changed pictures. I think greg is up to something.
pic of Greg on cam now.

Just for the record, DRS was amazing. Except I didn't like Greg not being in it. I mean the guy playing Andre was a brunette. And not so great at a French accent. I'll review more thoroughly later. If I remember to.
One funny thing was after the performance my mom and I were hightailing it out of the theater because we had a four hour drive back to Florida and I really wanted to stage door, but that was out of the picture. Well it just so happened that we walked right by the stage door as Timothy Gulan (Freddy) was leaving! So we made a quick pit stop and I took a picture with him. He was really nice and EXCELLENT as Freddy. That was my quickest stage door stop ever. FYI.
he's cute; he has that going for him at least.
My friend met and hung out with Ewan McGregor last night.
I'm just a tad jealous.

Yes I did miss those long reviews of yous Panda so it was a treat to read it...it took only forty minutes..lol
Amanda, I literally almost just cried reading that... tell your friend to call me....... because... I've been in love with Ewan McGregor for 5 years now.... and knowing he's in the city has been killing me.
Yeah he's filming a movie called 'The Tourist'.. also starring Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams... they've been in Bryant Park and Chinatown.. but I can never get over there.
Not that I'm tracking him or anything.................
i love Hugh Jackman. see the Prestige. he is so good in it. and in Kate and Leopold, he is such a gentleman. and so hott..... what were we talking about?
Ewan? that's cool. how did she do that?
tiny bit jealous too. only because of the accent though.

Okay more aboutthe show. First of all I have to say that the Fox Theater in Atlanta is amazing. If yall ever get the chance to go to it you really should. Sit in the balcony. The ceiling is gorgeous, it looks like you're outside under an Arabian Nights sort of tent. I attached a site for yall to go to, there's a link that will go to a 360 tour of the theater and that gives you an idea of what I'm talking about.
Anyway the show-
The Only Game in Town- Not the best. I personally like Give Them What They Want better, but maybe that's because I just didn't know the song. I will say that Tom Hewitt (Lawrence) impressed me in this number and jumpstared my liking of him.
What was a woman to do?- It was good, I really liked Hollis Resniki, but not as much as Joanna Gleason and Lucy Arnez.
GBS- I have to say, I loved the train scene with Timothy. It was absolutly hilarious. And his GBS dancing was great, it wasn't like Norb's, but I mean that's a good thing. He needs to do his own thing, and it worked! (Okay so it was similar, but different. make sense?)
I have to say right here that the Pencil Joke barley got a laugh. I may have been the only one in the balcony to laugh. It was upsetting.
Chimp-- Eh, it was okay. Not really. I mean, it was eh.
Oklahoma?- Wonderful, Jennifer Foote was excellent as Jolene.
Ruprecht- Wow. I mean what can I say? Two great performers (Hewitt and Gulan). They just blew it away. I loved it. Gulan's Ruprecht was just priceless. I'd give anything to see it again.
Here I am- I love Laura Marie Duncan. Love her. She was so cute, the "Oh! That's me!!" And she can sing. I loved her.
The last two before intermission were good too, but nothing memorable happened and I"m bad at reviews.
Shuffhausen- Hilarious.
Like Zis/Like Zat- Okay so I have to admit, this is the scene where I began to like Drew McVety as Andre. It was a really good scene. I was dissapointed that no one in the theater understood the "Muriel of Omaha" joke. I guess Southerners are slow. (Wait, I just dissed myself. Ouch.)
Next memorable song- Love is my Legs- Outstanding is all I have to say. Have I mentioned that I love Timothy Gulan? Because I do.
Okay the rest of the show was great too, DRN was pretty awesome. I mean, you know. It's DRN. I feel like maybe they jazzed it up a little. The part about "thousand flawless pearls set in a strand" seemed louder, more instruments. It was good.
Basically I love love loved the show. I just miss Greg being in it.
Ah did I mention that the Jerky scene was GREAT! I may be dense but I don't remember Freddy saying "OKAY! L-A-H-O-M-A!" and then he and Andre joking about the situation. That was cute. I think that's about it. If you have any questions you can ask. I'm sure I left out important details. Whoo for a review!
Site to look at a 360 of the theater

you didn't mention the "love sneaks in number" Julia....was it good?
Broadway Legend Joined: 12/31/69
Actually yes it was. I can't believe I forgot about that. It's never been one of my favorites, but I think that Tom Hewitt has given my favorite performance of it. I mean I liked Lithgow and Pryce, but this time Tom Hewitt really did a good job.
I don't know if this has been done, but right before Oklahoma? when Freddy is trying to find somewhere to sit down Lawrence said "I think there's an empty seat at J13!" It was a funny echo from WWAWTD.

Thanks. I will never forget the fist time I was listening to the song
Julia, both the O-K-L-A and the J-13 reference were added to the show when Pryce came in.
Really glad you liked the tour. Laura is awesome of course, and I kind of liked the idea of Tom Hewitt as Lawrence. And of course yay or loving Timothy. I agree he looks like a Freddy...a bit like Jason, no? And you shouldn't feel upset at liking a new Andre! I'm glad you think he's good in the role.
Let's see...wow, this is the most active the thread has been in a while! Gotta leave for class in like 15 minutes, I'll cover what i can...
Kerrie, of course I know your love for Ewan. That's the main reason I briefly posted it here (how could I forget our arguments about the hottest Scottish man? Still Gerry :-P )
*He* (bad assumption Dre :-P) is a student at The New School for Drama. He was with friends seeing Voyage of the Carcass (supposedly Dan is in the movie too?) and Ewan sat next to them. He bummed a cigarette, and they started talking, explained they were students at The New School for Drama, talked some acting...he said he was really cool, down-to-earth, and then invited them to the cast party or something? so that's when they more chilled.
Like I said, a tad jealous.
Chinatown, eh? And Hugh Jackman? Are you at least mentally stalking Kerrie? I'm not far from Chinatown...maybe I'll check it out one day...that's where I saw Rent shoot...do you know or know where I can find specific info about where they're shooting?
Aww thanks Annie. You're so awesome. It certainly motivates me to want to write more reviews and long posts in my lessened online time when I know they're missed. But it was nice to post the MP one--kind of a special aspect of seeing shows in previews, there's not soo many reviews yet so people are more interested in your particular opinion.
I'm not going to Martin short. Ah well.
Did I ever mention...I'm pretty sure I didn't...you know how we know Dennis Stowe is in the Wedding Singer? He's playing the guy who plays Mr. T at the end! Ahhh! I have to see this soon. My friend really wants to see it so I'm waiting to work it out with her.
And Michael Cerveris is coming into my Sondheim class on Monday. Really exciting. Great timing, while we're still doing Sweeney. It's so awesome doing that in class. I just sit there bouncing, mouthing and acting out the songs with my friends...and just ramble, and people are interested in my rambling. The paper I wrote for it, which I hafta fix up, was supposed to be 4-6 pages...mine is 9, which is shorter than I expected. Yay. Anyway, I wrote about Epiphany and Johanna (act 2) and we ended class with Epiphany yesterday and my teacher was like Amanda's been waiting for this for weeks and I was like wow, I didn't think I was being that obvious...so then I got to ramble about the brilliance of the song for 5 minutes. Hehe.
We're all excited to start with A Little Priest Wednesday. And yeah Michael coming in will be awesome. Maybe I can finally ask him my question about if he wonders where people's hands have been when they rub his head...or what it's like to have a head like a ping pong ball,...hmmm...
Finally, there was a musical reading at the York Theater last night (free--always good). I went w/ a friend at the last minute...Rachel De Benedet was in it, and Fred Lassen was musical director and played piano. Hehe.
I really liked it. There were 2 plays--one was about a magician and his former lover (Rachel) and he kept trying to like...do magic tricks on her(she was his assistant) and there was this whole thing where he made her float and she kept trying to tell him she was independent and making herself float, but he couldn't accept that. It was a powerful piece. Rachel had one song that she belted the hell out of. Great reception from the audience (including these adorable old men next to me who kept saying "brava")
The other reading was a 2-act musical called The Last Smoker in America. Smoking had been abolished in America and anyone caught doing it was put in jail--there were police who hunted them down and such. Rachel was a stressed-out Mom who snuck one every so often. She was having problems with her husband, and their son was a white kid who kept trying to tell them he was black (he was hysterical!), told his dad that his dad was his nigga, etc. Then you know, Rachel catches her husband with the neighbor, goes on the run, comes back 2 years later, and I can't explain it but it was sooo funny. There's the son, and they wave flags while signing the song "the Last smoker in America" and such. Soo glad I went at the last minute. Gotta love these free arts events around the city. And Rachel was really funny and did a very good acting job (particularly for a reading). She was cheered enthusiastically by the audience, and it was great to see her again (sans bad Muriel wig. Heh).
Alrighty time for class. boo. Mondays, Weds, and Fris are the best--sondheim MW and Lang at the public theater Friday. Tuesday/Thursday are 3 classes--dream interpretation (fun), psychoanalysis and society (ok) and stats (bores me to death).
my bad Amanda. lucky them.
I know what you mean about the most active this board has been in a while. Isn't that sad?
I seriously think that Tom Hewitt should have come to broadway and have Keith do the tour. that is just my thought.
damn you for seeing Fred again without me! was he wearing shorts? hehe.
The Last Smoker play reminds me of Urinetown. isn;t that cool? who wrote the music?
I might have to send my computer to Apple to get the screen fixed which sucks. but we'll see.

See, I saw it with Jonathan, but I guess I didn't register those jokes... And yes Timothy definitely looks a bit like Jason, I had to double check my playbill just to make sure it wasn't him.
Wow, you're right.
He looks like a chubbier Jason, lol.
Jason by the way is an awesome Freddy.
when I saw the pic, I thought he sort of looked like Brian d'Arcy James. Does anyone else see that?

I wish I had a way to get up with him.
Okay, that sounds weirder than I had expected it to. What I mean is that I like to tell people how much I actually enjoyed the show and in his case it was like a 5 second "Can I get a pic?" "Sure." "K, great. The show rocked." Kind of thing. Man. Missed opportunities bite.
I agree about Tom and Keith.
Wow, when you said the bit about Fred, at first I read that as Freddy and I was like when did she see the Freddy on tour (thought you were talking to Julia). Hehehe. No shorts. Don't think that would have been appropriate for the event. His hair wasn't spiky though. He did a very good job on piano.
I wouldn't know if it's like Urinetown...b/c I still haven't seen it! How could I have missed it right here in Brooklyn?! Ulgh!
Well...I guess I can't bemoan missed oppertunites...just got a ticket for Les Miz's opening night this Thursday! Soo excited.
lucky! hehe.
yes, Fred with shorts. will not forget that day. I believe that is the day we met Jeffrey Lane too. Who right now reminds me of Jerffrey Tambor. weird. awww, no spiky hair? sad. miss him.
urinetown here was great! the lights were fantastic. really wished we could have had more than 4 performances.
