Right before she said her name was Lexi Grey, I was like...please tell me that is not Meredith's half-sister. Sure, send more dark and twisty stuff Meredith's way. It's like they want the character to just explode from emotional trauma or something.
singingwendy, that's Chyler Leigh. She was in "Reunion," "Not Another Teen Movie," "The Practice," and a few other things. It should be an interesting storyline...she's a heck of a lot cuter than her half-sister, so I'm already OK with her.
THAT was the Grey's I know and love. Besides the fact that I am on the verge of hating Izzie.
THANK YOU! I know I'd seen her somewhere!
So....is George leaving the show for good? Think he'll leave both Izzie and Callie behind?
I loved it, but I hated it. I want to know SO MUCH more....
SPOILER ALERT
So what the heck is up with George and Burke? Way to drag out the real world drama about TR and Isaiah and not let us know what is really going to happen.
I am torn on rooting for Callie or rooting for Izzie. I think I will settle on just rooting for George. Poor, poor George.
Dr. Burke's vows were great even though he did not get to say them. I understand the whole wedding thing emotionally but I still really wanted it to happen.
It should be an interesting storyline...she's a heck of a lot cuter than her half-sister, so I'm already OK with her.
Wait...I thought Lexie was the half-sister and the girl from the bar?
So is the bar woman related at all? Or did they just choose two actresses who resemble each other?

I think Lexi was the girl in the bar. Would make sense, Shepherd meeting a girl in a bar... again.
I totally saw the Burke/Cristina thing coming, but George not passing never crossed my mind. Poooor Bailey.
EDIT: Does anyone know the name of the song they were playing at the end and who sings it? I really liked it. It was something like "All we've got to do is keep breathing".
I don't like how the Bailey thing went totally unexplained. There was so much around the Chief choosing the next Chief of Surgery, but Resident just got tacked up on a board? I wasn't surprised by it so much; there was so much "...but Bailey is the Chief's favorite!" that I could easily see how they would play against that. But at least give us a scene between Bailey and the Chief or something?

I can't believe that not a single member of the core cast ended on even a remotely happy note. Perhaps Addison, simply because she's found a way out of this vortex of misery.
I can't believe people are rooting for George and Izzie.
Edited to add - I really think Shonda Rhimes thinks her audience is stupid. And I wouldn't have thought that before this season.
I agree, Kringas! It was the most depressing season finale I've ever seen. No one got what they were hoping for -- although I kind of hope that Alex tracks down Ava.

I'll have to re-watch this episode before I can properly chime in on everything like I usually do (two friends came over to watch it, were both late and thus, I missed parts).
A few things now though:
Lexi and the girl in the bar last week are one in the same. "Girl in bar" was having a bad day -- obviously -- because she'd just attended her mother's funeral. This week, you see all the interns come in and GASP! one of them is Lexi. Because you know, we didn't all see THAT one coming.
Why the FCUK did Callie get Chief Resident? WTF.
Ditto, what was there to gain with the dig at Izzie before the wedding? That was uncalled for.
As far as I know it's only Isaiah Washington who was leaving..... maybe George will repeat his internship. Callie's obviously not going anywhere, so we know George will be around. And they're not just going to cut the George/Izzie storyline like that.
I couldn't tell if Cristina was happy or sad... it was odd. I think it can be taken either way. I have to watch it again before I decide.
The woman who sings the song at the end of the show tonight will be on Good Morning America tomorrow morning. The announced that at the end of the show.
Derek broke my heart with what he said to Meredith. I cried my eyes out.
More tomorrow after I watch the show again, listen to the podcast and read the blog. I'll have more to say once I sort out all my thoughts.

And why would Shonda Rhimes pretend of the writer's blog that Addison in LA wasn't going to be a spinoff?

I felt the same way. Either way, it was heartbreaking to watch. Such an emotional episode. I couldn't help but cry during that final scene with Izzie and Christina, even if Izzie was really starting to annoy me.

I dont know. I dont think she ever actually intended it to be a spinoff when she wrote it. And I think maybe that's what she was getting at in the blog and on the podcast, now that I think about it.
With all the hype, it probably made perfect sense to pitch it as a new show.
.....and of course, to have it coming from the writer of one of ABC's highest rated shows (if not the highest -- Im not sure if Desperate Housewives beats out Grey's), ABC ate it up.

Wow - it's as if they don't know if ANY of the cast members are returning next season, so they gave every character a reason to be gone.
Hell, dump them all, keep Lexi and call it "Younger, Cuter Grey's Anatomy"!
And yes, GA is the highest rated drama on television, followed by House and CSI. Desperate Housewives has slipped quite a bit.
I really think Shonda Rhimes thinks her audience is stupid. And I wouldn't have thought that before this season.
I totally agree.
God, what a depressing episode. I think I officiallly hate Izzie now. I didn't even dislike her earlier this season when everyone thought she was a bitch, but I cannot stand her now.
And yeah, why was there no explanation as to why Callie is chief resident? Makes no sense.
Ava/Rebecca has always annoyed me. I'd rather see Alex with Addison, but I geuss that's not happening any time soon.
I hope Shonda was serious when she wrote that next season would be regular funny/ligh Greys. It's too much of a downer now.
The Meredith/Christina scene at the end kind of reminded me of the final scene of Death of a Salesman.
Sandra Oh needs an Emmy.
I still don't hate Izzie, but I love Callie more and more every episode.
Alex frikkin' needs to find Ava/Rebecca. He needs a scene where he's not an asshole and actually has feelings.

Simply horrible. If Cristina and Burke had married it may have redeemed the episode, but there was absolutely nothing that made this episode worthwhile. Awful, awful, awful.
wait....I saw where Callie said she got chief, but then AFTER I saw where McDreamy was refusing it, telling the chief to keep it and do it right.
SO...I figured Callie was joking.....OR were those two scenes just switched in time?
The scene where Christina is ripping off the choker and the dress was magnificent, reminded me of a caterpillar becoming a butterfly
Callie, Bailey, and Sidney were up for Chief Resident.
Shepard, Sloan, Addison, and Burke were up for Chief of Surgery.
Callie was announced as Chief Resident.
Bailey thought she would have gotten the position.
It was not explained why Callie got Chief Resident over Bailey.
Derek basically declined the Chief of Surgery, and so the position stays with the current Chief.
And the end scene was amazing.

And Burke's reasons for doing it were ridiculous. I hate that if she had walked down that aisle FIVE SECONDS earlier, they'd have been married. It's like, nope, you missed your window of opportunity. I was telling a friend last night: people do things they're not that excited about for people that they love. It doesn't mean that they're not being true to themselves, because loving that other person is part of who they are. They would have been so happy together.
I think that Cristina was heartbroken at the end of the episode. She got what her old self would've wanted, but that's not what she wants anymore.
Elphaba, Callie was named chief resident, McDreamy was up for chief of surgery. Bailey SHOULD have gotten chief resident. Way to make me resent Callie.

I really thought that by giving Callie Chief Resident they were going to throw us all a curve ball and just give Bailey Chief of Surgery. No such luck.
