I just love how ABC or whoever released a cast photo for season 5 now. However, it is the same one from last season, but with Kevin McKidd photoshopped in, and Brooke Smith out. How dumb do they think we are? Plus, the whole thing just looks extremely fake to begin with. Bad photoshopping, in my opinion.

And apparently Jessica Capshaw is staying for the rest of the season, with the possibility of coming back for next. Not sure how I feel about this with how terrible the last episode was with her and Callie. If they improve it, that will be fine. Or she would be better with no Callie relationship if it is going to be like that.
I also found out a tiny bit about episode 20. There are always pieces of the episodes that leak out, but with the character's names changed. However, in the one I'm talking about, they may have goofed or intentionally left Callie's father's name in. Plus, the scene was definitely an orthopedic case. It sounds like maybe Callie finally tells him about being a lesbian, or bisexual, or whatever she is, and he is not happy about it at all and wants her to come home. That last part probably means nothing, but it also makes me a tiny bit nervous because it could mean that Sara Ramirez is departing.
When they know people are wondering if an actor is leaving, they put something in to make it possible storyline wise. I doubt she is leaving due to the crapstorm when Brooke left. That said, the fact that she gave a solidarity necklace to TR and wears one herself makes me wonder if she will go, too. It's my understanding that she's only contracted year to year. I don't think I would really care too much at this point.

I couldn't disagree more. It was very realistic. Arizon wasn't aware that Callie was just venturing into discovering her sexuality when she kissed her. When she found out, she may have still been interested, but wasn't willing to set herself up for hurt. I know women like that. They refuse to be an experiment. It also gives them a chance to slow things down.
Good points. I guess I just thought Arizona was being sort of weird since she was the one who had initiated the kiss. It seems maybe more will happen in the next few episodes. So if Callie's dad does indeed come for episode 20, there has to be more than just him visiting for no reason. And I do agree that Grey's will no longer be worth watching if Sara goes.
And I hope that they are writing Arizona out to just be perky and happy, and not like Izzie. There were just a couple of things that reminded me of Izzie in the last episode, and we don't need another Izzie.
Another re-run last night? Geez! But if I read my DVR correctly, in next week's episode Derek decides to not practice medicine anymore. Interesting...
It actually wasn't a terrible episode tonight. Well, the Izzie parts were not interesting, and the fight between Bailey and the Chief was a bit ridiculous. Strangely, I like Derek being an ass when he's drunk. I guess it's because it actually is a better excuse to be one, unlike when he's sober.
And coming from a former marching band kid, those kids were terrible. I have never performed with anyone as nasty as them. I probably would have quit, if I did. But then, I never got into it as much as others I know.
Callie and Arizona were okay tonight too. I can't wait to see where this goes. I'm especially interested because of what Sara Ramirez has said recently about the whole storyline. (Yay!) And I am happy that there were a couple of scenes between Callie and Mark that were good.
I actually really liked the Izzieness tonight. And I liked that she chose to tell Cristina.
I liked the fact that Izzie told Christina, until I saw the previews for next week. It looked very very over the top.
And I have to say, I am absolutely THRILLED that the writers made Izzie's cancer start out as a melanoma. I had a melanoma removed from my ankle along with a tumor that was growing into my tendons and three lymphnodes from my groin. Thankfully we had caught it fast enough and it did not spread past there, so I didn't have to go through chemo or radiation. But I have been told by many arrogant people that 'I didn't really have cancer'. Many people don't think that melanoma can really grow into anything besides a funky looking mole. So I'm glad that Grey's is showing America otherwise.
Strangely, I like Derek being an ass when he's drunk. I guess it's because it actually is a better excuse to be one, unlike when he's sober.
Confession time: am I the only one who *laughed* at "Here's your ring!" :thwack:
drunk!Derek was actually fine during the rest of that scene, but there was something in, I'm not sure if it was Dempsey's delivery of the line, or the reaction shot of Pompeo that they chose to use, that just made it look like so much cheese to me, and nowhere near what I think TPTB were trying to accomplish there. Or maybe I'm just cold, heartless and unfeeling.
I am intrigued by the preview of the next episode, as Christina spent all of last night's episode (and all of the past seasons) going on about how she is the rock, the strong one, etc. (what'd Izzie call her, "the robot"?), that I am interested to see it play out next week...
Ugh, I thought Derek was a McDouche and it just came out of left field. Why the hell was he attacking Meredith?
I didn't like the Izzie thing when they were playing her for laughs. I think it was because I knew how serious the diagnosis was they were about to hand her. Maybe if I hadn't know, it would have been funny.
I still don't buy Mark and Lexie as a couple. He still calls her Little Grey. It's creepy.
Callie was cute at the end. Yeah, I said it. I can't wait for Hector Elizondo to come back.
The whole 'Derek and the ring' thing was very very very obvious. I wasn't shocked at all when he decided to play a little baseball with it. And I giggled a little when they zoomed up on the ring in the grass and it was glimmering. That was a little much.
But good news for TR Knight, he had a total of 8 lines this week (well nine if you include a grunt). That's four more than usual.
And I agree Jerseygirl, Callie was cute at the end. I actually would really like to see her and Arizona together, who is absolutely adorable.
George's, "Hello..." was adorable.

hee. AND- he's in the preview for the next episode! True, it's to say "there's something wrong with Izzie" as per usual, but it was George, in the preview!
And I agree with the Callie cuteness- when she swung her arm back in the elevator doors I might've *squee*d. Just a little
I kind of laughed at Derek being drunk as well. See, I knew he was being a douchebag, but then it sort of doesn't surprise me from other times when he wasn't drunk. I don't think I would want a guy like him at all. Sure, Meredith is nothing great either, but it isn't just her that annoys me in their relationship. It is both of them.
Is it terrible to say that I don't care about what happens to Izzie? I thought it was odd that she told Cristina, of all people, first. If I were in her shoes, thinking that Cristina did not like me that much, she would be the last person I would tell. But, that's just me.
Yes, Callie was very cute at the end. As she was in her other scenes too.
And yes, I still find Mark and Lexie creepy, hence why I didn't comment on them in my first post. It is definitely how they interact, and the age gap. I still don't get what Derek's mother saw in Lexie for Mark.
I completely forgot to mention how much I liked Alex's character and performance this week. I'm always on a roller coaster when it comes to how I feel about Alex since he can be a total douche, but this week something about his performance made me really like him. I think it was the combination of saving that girl's life and his little talk with Izzie. Everything about him was very genuine this week.
Is it terrible to say that I don't care about what happens to Izzie? I thought it was odd that she told Cristina, of all people, first.
I'm a little indifferent as to which way they'll choose to write this out, if she lives or dies, but the telling Christina first thing I actually did understand- she needed to tell someone just to have someone else who knows, to have someone help share this secret with... I was a little surprised they didn't have Izzie break down and tell Lexie during their scene, but, you know, if you figure the "choices," for lack of a better term, would be to tell who first- Alex? Mer? George?- I would've probably gone with the robot and told Christina first also. Especially if she's still working out the if she even wants treatment with the only 5% odds, etc. that the next episode is showing.
I don't really understand why none of the interns caught on that "Patient X" is Izzie after she freaked out and was saying that 'there IS something wrong with Patient X because she had hallucinations of her dead fiancee'. They all know that she has a dead fiancee, so I don't really know why they didn't put the two together.
I was thinking the same thing. She had a totally different personality in this episode, versus the one where she was doing the other contest. Had patient X just been someone else, she probably wouldn't have been freaking out on them so bad. I understand it would be important for them to diagnose correctly, but I really think she wouldn't have been so pushy, and would have told them to check again in a nicer way.
That was a crazy episode last night. Of course, as much as I wanted to hate Izzie, deep down a tiny bit, I felt bad for her. But, that's it. I have a feeling the rest of the season will be clogged up with her drama, as usual. But, Sandra Oh was amazing in this episode because of that.
Yay! George finally was a prominant character tonight. Unfortunately, he was wasted on the stupid interns. Go figure. They seriously need to not give those interns any storylines anymore. That's what partially ruins the show, in my opinion. But, I guess they needed someone to put them in line, so George and Meredith were the most logical choices.
Mark and Lexie of course, were horrible. Funny how at the end Lexie just kissed Mark out of nowhere out of the notion that people would stop making fun of them, and that they were real, but it definitely was fake, and gross.
And with the little Callie action we got, it was great. The scene with Bailey made me love Callie even more. Her comments about the woods are exactly how I feel. :) And it was random, but funny how she spent the day drinking with Derek and Owen. Hey, her surgery got cancelled for the day, and although she didn't appear drunk when the Chief came, drinking and driving is a no no. :) Wouldn't want her to wreck her awesome car.
I have no idea why, but I was sort of expecting Callie and Owen to start looking for the ring in the woods after the Chief yelled at Derek. I kind of wish they did.
And thanks to the preview for next week, I am now interested in what makes Callie talk to George. I know it is going to be about Izzie, but I wonder if it has anything to do with what happened to his father in season 3. Mostly because she was there for him then, which led to them getting married, so she might know how to talk to him.
I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode. This season is finally taking a turn for the better! I thought Derek's "proposal" was adorable, and it was good to see him so genuinely happy again. That oncologist is a b*tch though.
Ok, question: did I just completely miss a scene in last night's episode, or did we not see *any* Izzie/Alex conversation about him fertilizing her eggs?
It was scene 1: talk of the dr will be harvesting her eggs. Scene 2: the Chief tells Alex fertilized eggs keep better, and so Alex goes off to be the donor. And I was watching that entire scene thinking "wait, does *Izzie* know this is happening? Are they just fertilizing her eggs without her input here?"
My understanding is that she didn't know. I got that impression when Alex was yelling at the Cheif about it.
Callie and Arizona were really cute dancing in the beginning of the episode. Now, what I don't get is why in the episode where Erica departed, Callie was sort of defending Izzie, but in this one she was feeling guilty about wishing she would die, before she knew she was sick. Unless, Callie is not catty enough to ruin Izzie's career, but because Izzie ruined her marriage, she just wanted her to go away because emotionally, that probably hurts more. Plus, there is also the factor that Callie seemed to have no idea what was going on with Izzie and Denny.
I think Callie's defense of Izzie to Erica was more of a "she's still one of us" thing. Her point was kind of along the lines of "well she messed up, but she's still a doctor". It's a weak rationale, but I think that's what the writers were going for.
And Anakela, there was no scene that involved Alex fertilizing Izzie's eggs. That's a little strange...
Oh and I felt so bad for Christina at the end But she made the right decision. At least he's finally getting some help!
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure.
I was also sad at the end for Cristina and Owen. But, I guess it is for the best right now. Owen really needs help, and I think he finally realized it after Cristina was afraid of sleeping with him. It probably also didn't help that he had Meredith and Callie just assuming he was beating her.
Well in the beginning of the episode when Owen was choking Christina, I forgot that Callie lived there! So I was freaking out thinking she was just gonna die! Thank God Callie heard.
Yeah, that was a very intense scene, but very well played out. Of course, people were joking about what would happen if Cristina ever walked in on Callie and Arizona in her room, but it would definitely sound differently.
