Did she say that? Is it on her site? I don't go there as often as I should. It would be nice to be able to strike that out as an option so I don't base all my theories around it if I'm totally wrong! I just think there HAS to be something significant about the burning scar.

Did book 6 confirm that Riddle's diary was one of the horcruxes? I thought I was clever in assuming that, but someone told me if was already said in the text.

Yeah the diary was a horcrux. That was why Voldemort was so upset with Lucius for screwing up. Dumbledore was saying that it was a particular bit of ingenious magic....for the memory to talk and to gain power, and even more interesting since it was a horcrux.

Isn't there some rumor about the locket in Sirius's house, and that R.A.B. is his brother. They talk about a heavy locket when Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys are cleaning out Grimmauld Place.

Yeah, I don't know how Regulus A. Black fits in with the story, but I guess we'll find out in book 7. And I think the locket was speculation that's probably right.

So:

1. Diary
2. Locket
3.
4.
5.
6.
7. Voldemort? I suppose he's his own horcrux if there's a 1/7 of his soul in there, right?

What are the symbols from each of the four houses?

1. Diary
2. Locket
3. Marvolo's Ring
4. Hufflepuff's Cup (possible)
5. Nagani (possible)
6.
7. Voldemort

YUP.

Oh, duh right! The ring!

(I've really gotta reread 6.)

So if Hufflepuff's the cup, and Nagani is maybe the Slytherin's symbol...what are Gryffindor and Ravenclaw's? Sirius was a Gryffindor, right? It wasn't HIS locket though...And I guess spot #6 is for the Gryffindor symbol? HARRY! I'm 70% sure of it.

Lol. All I know is that J.K. killed of two of my three favorite characters (Sirius and Dumbledore). So if she kills off Hermione or Ginny, I will cry. Actually, I did cry when both of the other two died. I still cry every time I reread the fifth and sixth ones. Oh, yeah, and I cried when Cedric died.

I don't think it is Harry. The first night Voldemort ever met Harry was when he killed his parents. Why would Harry be the horcrux, if Voldemort wants to kill him so badly?

Dumbledore says Nagini is most likely a horcrux, so I am betting she definitely is.

The locket was anoth of Slytherin's belongings. Regulus has to be RAB. Sirius said he got in to far with the death eaters and then backed out. I don't think Sirius knew how deep Regulus really was in.

The last horcrux is gonna be something of Ravenclaw or Gryffindor...though what I don't know...

I firmly believe that harry can't be a horcrux because he'd have to kill himself before he killed Voldemort and how can that be? because for Voldemort to die he has to destroy all the horcruxes before taking out Voldemort...so I don't see how that can happen if Harry is a horcrux...also I think there has to be some sort of spell or ritual to make a horcrux (my speculation) and so much dark magic that i don't think it's possible to "accidently" make a horcrux which would have to be the case if Harry is a horcrux...that's my thoughts anyway...

I don't think Harry will die, I think he will have to make some sacrifices along the way and I think a lot of people close to him will die, but I think the trio will come out ok, my hopes anyway...I don't think it's gonna be a sappy sweet happy ending there's gonna be a lot of death and destruction that they will have to get over.

Also think RAB has to be Regulus it fits and has pretty much all but been confirmed...

I'm anxious to know what the veil really is...it has to be explored a bit more or JKR wouldn't have made it such a big deal and surrounded by mystery...

There are so many unanswered questions...is it time for book 7 yet?

OOOOOO... good point staticradar!! Unless J.K. intends to leave her series in the control of Voldemort. Which would blow!

It's ultimately a good vs evil hero journey story so I think the series will end with good triumphing evil but also on a somber note, nothing is gonna be the same no matter what...i just hope the way Voldemort is defeated is going to be something really creative and not some sheer dumb luck which is how Harry has escaped him before...Harry has to defeat him one on one...the only thing is Harry isn't an all powerful wizard like Voldemort, so he'll have to use his wits and it has to be on his terms and on his turf which makes me think the final battle will be at Hogwarts or Department of Mysteries...

I tend to overthink everything, especially with this series, but it's so easy to do! haha

I just hope one this is solved that has been bugging me since Book 3...why was Pettigrew a Gryffindor? He's a cowardly spineless no good suck up who just gravitates to whomever is powerful and whom he can follow...those aren't the brave and true qualities of a Gryffindor which makes me think he'll do something heroic in Book 7, he does owe Harry a life debt and he has a silver hand that Voldemort gives him...JKR says the silver hand is not to kill Lupin, but what about Greyback? I would love if he used it to save Lupin, since he was his friend...but I don't know...just something I've been thinking a lot about...the Maruaders have always been my favorite characters (minus pettigrew really)

I definetly think Pettigrew will do something heroic in #7. Dumbledore goes into that whole thing with Harry about wizards being indebted to other wizards. She was setting it up for him to do something. I kinda thought he would cut Harry loose in the 4th one. And keep Voldemort from returning, But that never happened...

Did J.K. actually ever say that Pettigrew was in Gryffindor? Because you're right, that doesn't seem like the Gryffindor qualities.

All that was said about Pettigrew was that he tagged along with the boys (I think.) So one is to assume that he was in Gryffindor. I guess that James Potter was actually a chaser in his school days, but the movie made the wrong assumption that he was a seeker in Quidditch, so JKR changed that in the book.

I tend to overanalyze this series too - JK's been so effective in making this detailed and complex that it almost seems like there's no such thing as over-analyzing! (Except for the mix-up in the order of spirits coming out of Voldemort's wand - don't think that didn't screw me up for a long time!)

BRB - Entertainment Tonight's on. Then back to beating this to death!

I just started reading this thread, so I don't know if this has all been covered before.

My sister wwere trying to find screw-ups in the books for fun. We found a really obvious, blatant one. At the end of book 4, Harry doesn't see the Thestrals when the carriages come and pick them up. He's already seen Cedric die by then though. *shrug*

Another one that I can't figure out. The minister's name is Rufus Scrimgore(sp?). In book 5, when Harry is listening in on Bill and Lupin's converstaion in the kitchen of Grimald Place. Lupin says "Any luck wiht Scrimgore, Bill?" I always assumed they were talking about a goblin. I dunno if she just accidently used the same name twice, or what. But it's confusing.

Yes, but J.K. has said that in order for someone to see the thestrals, death has to have sunken in. SO, apparently, Cedric's death hasn't sunken in.

I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter series. My favorite book would have to be #5, even though Sirus, who is one of my favorite characters, dies.

My own theory about book #7 is that I don't think Dumbledore's really dead. I think that Snape and Dumbledore might have faked the death to throw off Voldemort and the Death Eaters, so that Dumbledore could continue hunting for the horcruxes. I think when it's all said and done, Snape and possibly even Draco will be good guys.

I really hope that Ron or Hermione don't get killed off in the last book, cause that would be really sad, although I'm pretty sure that someone else is gonna die. I'm also curious to see what's gonna happen to the Dursleys, since they've made an appearance in every book. It would be cool to see Harry finally get revenge on them!

I think Dumbledore must be dead. It's the typical story. The teacher teaches the student all he knows. Then the teacher leaves and the student has to fend for himself. If Dumbledore isn't really dead, then Harry wouldn't have ti kill Voldemort by himself.

I think JK's on record as saying that everyone who's dead/appears dead in the book is dead-dead. I don't know if that includes Sirius, who's technically just missing. But it would be such a cop-out if it was like Days Of Our Lives - they weren't killed! The deaths were staged and they're all being held hostage on a tropical island!

So I'm assuming that Cedric, Sirius and Dumbledore are dead, but Dumbledore will probably still be around to advise Harry, since he'll be animated in the office portrait.

DId anyone read the contest winners for the writing of the opening of book 7? Just wondering. One of the winners had a portrait of Sirius in there. So maybe there is one (not saying that just because someone who won a contest says there is means that there is).

Hagrid's tough, people have been predicting him to die since book 4 and it hasn't happened yet...so we'll see, I'd be sad if he died...

I'm hoping Neville takes revenge on Bellatrix though for torturing his parents, I think she's setting that up to happen...

Also i'm wondering how Harry will kill Voldemort, I really seriously doubt he'll use Avada Kedavra, because as much as he hates Voldemort I don't think he's capable at successfully using an unforgiveable curse, even on Voldemort and also they can't really use their wands because Priori Incantatum (sp?) could happen again like it did in the graveyard...something to ponder on...

I'm wanting Sirius to not be dead, but I have a feeling he is or if he's not he's in really bad shape...but there is something about the veil that doesn't feel right...also the thing that makes me think Sirius is dead (even though I'm still holding out hope) is because JKR said that writing Sirius fall was one of the hardest things she had to do and she was even crying and her husband had asked her why doesn't she just let him live then and she was like "well it's important to the plot"...she loved Sirius as much as we all did and I think that death is the hardest for people to accept.

I do think Dumbledore is dead, sad as it is, but Harry does have to do this alone, as sad as it may be...but I think Dumbledore will help him via his picture or something left behind...and i also think Sirius' mirror will come back into play as well, as to what purpose I don't know...

Oh and Peter was in Gryffindor, him James, Remus and Sirius were all roomates in Gryffindor like Ron Harry Seamus and Dean are now...so Peter was a Gryffindor...
