I think that every character that we think is dead...is dead. What kind of message would JKR be giving if all of these dead people returned? Dumbledore has also said several times that no spell can reawaken the dead. He has to be dead.
One theory I have heard though...is that Snape and Dumbledore took polyjuice potion and that Snape is really dead. I doubt that, but it is interesting.

I 'm not sure if Harry broke the mirror or not, I don't have the book with me. I'm pretty sure that the locket will play a role in the seventh book.
As for Voldemorts's death, I agree with staticradar, I don't think Harry will use Avada Kedavra because he has a good heart, and I think it was mentioned in the fith book that in order to do an unforgivable curse you have to really mean it and want to cause suffering (or something like that).
One character I wouldn't mind seeing dead is Dolores Umbridge. She was really vicious in the fifth book, and I think it was mentioned that she was smirking at Dumbledore's funeral, and didn't seem to be too sad that he was dead.

Posted: 2/2/06 at 10:48pmDolores Umbridge is a b*tch. I wouldn't care if she died either. Or Cornelius Fudge, he was so mean in the fifth book. I also really wouldn't mind if Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Fenrir Greyback, or Pansy Parkinson died.

Posted: 2/2/06 at 10:49pmShe was awful, but I don't think J.K. will go back to her. She was one of the characters that lasted only through one book. She doesn't have a lot of importance anymore. What would the point of killing her now? And besides, they already got revenge on her with the centaurs.

It is! Oh, good.
I read the books, then bought the tapes and listened to them over, and over, and over again. I can remember individual dialogue really well. But it gets swirled together in my head at times.

Posted: 2/2/06 at 10:57pmI also wouldn't Percy getting what's coming to him. I don't want him dead, just taken down a couple pegs. Like maybe Fred and George play some trick, or use some pranks from their shop on him and he ends up humiliated in in front of the Minister of Magic. Then he could apologize to his family for treaing them like crap.

I imagined Narcissa to be paler with more abundant straight blond hair.

haha now that you say that I totally see it, I'm hoping in costume and makeup she'll be a good Luna, they've done excellant with casting so far, you would think they would keep it up and know what they are doing...so we shall see...
I can't wait for them to start filming and set pictures to float in

Posted: 2/3/06 at 11:13amHugh Grant was being considered for Lockhart? Poo! He would have been amusing! lol I had no idea about that.

Posted: 2/3/06 at 1:24pmApparently he got so far is doing in for make-up tests and wigs, and then got offered the lead in "Two Weeks Notice" ("Wha?" EXACTLY.) and couldn't schedule it with HP. Don't think I'm not bitter. They got it so RIGHT with Jason in HP2 - how could they cancel that out by having Kenneth (who is fine but miscast) AND Dobby (most obnoxious CGI character since Jar Jar) in the same movie???

that's sad
Hugh would have been really funny, and that's always more how I (personally) imagined Lockhart.
#118re: Harry Potter Fans
Posted: 2/3/06 at 2:18pmI really don't see Lockhart as "Hughish" at all. I though Kenneth was pretty close to exactly how I imagined Lockhart.

Yeah i'm the same way, Kenneth was pretty much my version of Lockhart, and he did an excellant job...don't know if I can picture Hugh as Lockhart, especially in book 5...

Posted: 2/3/06 at 3:52pmI read the book imagining Hugh playing Lockhart even before he was cast. It just seemed like a clever play on his smarmy-celebrity persona and I could see him doing the mock-suave-BDJ/About-A-Boy cad side of Lockhart, along with the more typical bumbling fop he plays in [insert every other movie he's done].

It is just so strange to me, because Hugh Grant is just so far from what I imagined Lockhart to be like.
He is too "modern cute" looking, I imagined these old wizard woment would be pulled in by someone who gets it more by "charm," I have never fond Hugh even remotely "charming."
Also the big issue is it would have been "Hugh Grant" as you say playing part of the "smarmy guy" many think he is. I would not have been able to lose myself in the idea that he was the character of Lockhart.
#122re: Harry Potter Fans
Posted: 2/3/06 at 4:02pmBut I mean, what's more likely. Girls swooning over a foppishly charming Hugh Grant or a crusty Kenneth Brannaugh? That's where it lost me - I couldn't believe that people would find him remotely sexy, no matter how much slick charm he tried to inject.

That is the thing though, the idea that everyone likes Lockhart is a bit of a joke, it seems less interesting if it is because he is hot. They like him because he thinks he is a God- not because there is anything good about him.
I was happy when I heard Hugh was out and Kenneth in.
#124re: Harry Potter Fans
Posted: 2/3/06 at 4:23pmBut Hugh's not hot. That's the thing. Hugh's persona is that he's this smarmy playboy who's totally self-absorbed and plays all these fops against type. So by having everyone like him-as-Lockhart, it's almost a wink at that - people can laugh at the boys' befuddlement - who WOULD find him attractive if not for the charm only the girls can identify?
