I've always been partial to fedoras! But he looks like The Undertaker dressed in Alicia Keys' outfit!!
But overall, a more engaging band than Keane?
(BTW, sort of off-topic but actually on-topic, next week is Brit and Canadian rock week, and U2 MUST be on the setlist there! If not, I'll find my ways to get them to cover a U2 song...*evil grin*)
Claire (and I) want(s) to know why "Brit and Canadian?" Also, we're wondering if it'll be a mess having people potentially butcher U2...we don't want a repeat of that screachiness of the 2U guy that almost ruined Bad for me.
They were entirely different than Keane. Much more amusing from the front row, though I actually kind of enjoy some of Keane's songs...Shut up!...Even if they do all sound the same.
Brit and Canadian is just because those are the only two nationalities I really wanted to have represented in the contest so we decided to put them in one round. No deep answer. (Unless I say it's, er, a commonwealth theme?)
Tee hee...let's just keep in mind that it's not just that all of Keane's songs sound the same as each other. They sound the same as Coldplay too!
Ahh...I just figured there'd be plenty of Brit and Canadian music to have separate espisodes for each. Aren't there only a couple of people left? I don't think your odds of cultivating a U2 song are necessarily that great, unless you've offered side incentives for people that do!
Anyway...I'm surprisingly not sore this morning. My left armpit region feels a little sore from being shoved up against that baricade for 2 hours, but it's not bruised. Always a good thing!
Seems like there should have been something else to tell you about yesterday, but I can't think of anything...Oh, Jersey Boys. Yeah, it was much better than Lennon. They kept it fairly straight forward, just being the story of the group (and there was plenty of story there). I liked that when they did the musical numbers, it was just them performing them as the group (either in concert or in a recording studio). While it's nice to be creative, making some half-assed story about characters named Sherri (which Jersey Boys didn't do), Rhonda (Good Vibrations) or Anthony (Movin' Out) just doesn't work for me. It seems forced and kind of laughable. They also didn't try to Broadwayify the music. It sounded like The Four Seasons' own music, not like a pop/rock song that's been watered down into a showtune.
The sad thing is, it's totally sold out! My parents had been looking for a show to go to with my aunt and uncle when they come to NYC for my graduation, and that would have been great...Alas, no discount codes and the entire house (other than obstructed view) is $110 (probably pushing $120 or so with fees). For five people, it'd end up costing a small friggin fortune to go! I'm sorry, but it should not cost $600 for 5 people to go see a Broadway show (even in the mezz). This is getting borderline ridiculous!!!
Hey all! I'm home after (barely) surviving my weekend with Nicole. Here's my general review.
Jersey Boys was FANTASTIC. We were in the front row and had a great view. I absolutely loved it, and it was the first "jukebox" musical I've seen because I don't like the idea of the genre. But this was done really well. The actors had fabulous voices (especially John Lloyd Young), and it actually had a solid book that connected the songs. I highly recommend it.
The Strokes. What to say, what to say? I looove their music, but the concert was a little too intense for me. Here's an example of how bad it was. At one point, I was so exhausted that I just relaxed my legs. If I had been standing alone, I would have fallen. Instead, my body was held up by those around me. When the people around me jumped, my body was forced up and down along with the crowd. I can't even describe how tightly we were packed. The girl next to me kept shaking her head and her hair would fill my mouth and one of my eyes. I was surprised that the crowd was so rowdy. Nic and I felt like old foagies! The music was good, though, even though they didn't play my favorite song. They did play some good ones, though. I'm going to see if I can find a setlist after I post this.
Overall, it was a great weekend. We got really lucky by being in the front rows of the play and the concert that we saw, and I enjoyed myself. Now I have to recover for the Oscars tonight!
ETA: Apparently Joaquin Phoenix, Drew Barrymore, and Ryan Adams were all at Wednesday's concert! (And I can't find a setlist for last night).

Glad you made it home alright!...Yeah, I did feel like a bit of an old foagie next to those crazies. Sad that I'm already a geez at 21!
Hooray for Oscar Day, though! I'm already watching E! I guess Joaquin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Clooney, and Frances McDormand are all arriving in green/hybrid cars.
I really need to just shut this off or else I'm going to totally kiss away the entire day.
Did you see my edit? (I added to my post at the same time you posted). We missed Joaquin! It would have been cool to see him. He's got good taste in music!
I haven't started watching the Oscar stuff yet because our TV is occupied with basketball; I feel like I need a nap before tonight if I'm going to stay awake!
Oooh! I'd read that he was in NYC earlier this week club hopping, with agua in hand, btw (for his new movie perhaps??? He's playing some club manager or something). I also saw that Gwynnie and Chris Martin were at Wednesday's show on the Coldplay boards this morning (guess that was the show to be at for celeb sightings!). Joaquin does seem to have good taste in music from articles I've read where he mentions what he likes and from his recent concert spottings. Did you see that he's directing music videos now too?
I also haven't seen a setlist for last night's show (saw Wednesday and Friday's though). I'm kind of glad we didn't go Friday, because it didn't look like they played Razorblade, and I really like that song!
I found setlists for the other nights too, but I guess maybe it's still early for people to post last night's.
Last night I noticed that Nick was wearing the same shirt he wore on Leno, and I just found a picture of him wearing it at the NME Awards! He sure likes that shirt.
My pictures were awful because I was getting bumped around (and taking them one-handed) and because I couldn't use a flash. But here are some highlights. And unfortunately I have to post them seperately because whenever I try to post multiple pictures in one post it doesn't work.
First picture: Eagles of Death Metal. I wish this were clearer, because it doesn't do them justice.
A closet full of them, perhaps?!
What site are you looking at for your Strokes info? The message board on thestrokes.com doesn't really seem to have that much action/info from what I've seen.
ETA: YAY! Even if it doesn't do them justice, you can kind of see the geri's mohawk!
Julian! (who was looking gorgeous, by the way)
A gorgeous version of Ask Me Anything.
Fab (whom I adore), smoking as he still manages to play a killer drum set.
ETA: I made them all smaller so they wouldn't screw up our margins, but now they're too small, aren't they? Oh well.

They weren't screwing up the margins on my screen...Thanks a bunch for posting the pix, Claire!
Oh, and I found the setlist:
You Only Live Once
Red Light
Juice Box
The End Has No End
Someday
Heart in a Cage
Under Control
Razor Blade
Alone, Together
Life's a Gas
What Ever Happened
Last Night
Hard to Explain
12:51
Ize of the World
Trying Your Luck
Barely Legal
Ask Me Anything
Vision of Division
Reptilia
New York City Cops
I Can't Win
Take it or Leave It
So, there ya go! I felt like such a schmuck though, because while I knew all the songs, I really didn't/don't know any of the song titles. I can put them on and be like "Oh yeah, that song," but the names are mostly lost on me...I was so unworthy of that front row spot and I paid for it in physical abuse for almost 2 hours!
Thanks for the setlist. Now I'll be keeping my eyes out for a recording, though I doubt I'll be able to find one. I think I'll make a playlist on my iPod from that setlist; that will probably have to suffice.
ETA: Apparently there were some celebs at our show! Kanye West and Jamie Foxx, Ben Kweller, Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon, and David Cross. I'm not sure where they all were, though, because we didn't see them.

Ah, fun! I love David Cross. So sad about Arrested Development. I wonder if they were mostly up in the mezz??
MMMMMMMWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm seriously over the moon right now. Best. Oscars. Ever. Everyone I wanted to win actually did!
CONGRATS TO CRASH, REESE WITHERSPOON, AND PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN!!!
Boy, there are gonna be some angry Brokeback fans around here.
So Jamie flew in from NY to LA last night/today? I guess it's not like he was a nominee so the pressure was off.
I heart David Cross too - sad about Arrested Development. Talked to him a bit on the set of "She's The Man" (and WHY he did this movie is beyond me - it's so beneath him!) and he was really funny and nice. I didn't know who he was at the time. I thought he was an extra and we started chatting.
I'll be watching Crash at 10pm and then I'll be able to see what the hype's about. I'm not disappointed that BM didn't won, but I'm shocked it didn't!
I'm outraged that Capote didn't win, because I wanted to hear Nicholson say "Ca-po-tay" again! Grrrr!!!
Ca-po-tay!!! My friend and I were screaming over the phone about it! "Oh no he DIDN'T!" And was I the only one creeped out by him sitting next to Keira Knightley, who either has remarkably bad posture or was hunched over in fear?
HAHAH! I called my mom and without even saying "hello," we both went "Ca-po-TAY?!?!?!" at the same time.
And I was definitely weirded out about the Jack/Keira combo. She does seem to have kind of bad posture though. She seemed kind of hunchy on the red carpet...though that totally could have been her trying to lurch away from Isaac Mizrahi without being groped.
Did either of you catch who Joaquin said "I love you" to?
And I'm so disappointed that Phil didn't toss in a token "woof" at the end of his speech!
I was waiting for the WOOF! Too bad - he seemed so unprepared though, that he was probably the last thing on his mind. I was surprised at how caught off-guard he was!
Oooh, you just reminded me that I taped the first hour on the red carpet. Off to watch that!
Any thoughts on the fashions? No one really stood out for me, but I thought Salma was f*cking HOT!!
I can't tell the difference between "Baby & Harris Official Oscar Thread", "OSCAR THREAD", "Crash" and "Last Brokeback Thread" anymore.
Right now there are 6 threads talking about this. Any predictions for this time tomorrow?
