Alas, no Hasselhoff nightmares last night...though that's probably more to do with my roommate coming in and out all night until she finally came to bed after 5.

Oh, and I was so (momentarily) excited this morning when I saw a blurb about We Own the Night (the new Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes movie that'll be filming in NYC) was looking for extras for the week of my spring break...until I saw that they were looking for trashy 80s nightclub fare, including topless dancers. Ummm...guess I'll scratch that!

*gasp* You haven't read the Harry Potter books?! Go start reading. Now!

I picked up the collector's edition Walk the Line dvd today and I can't wait to watch it. I need a Reese and Joaquin fix!

I'm back from my interview! The more I think about it, the more I cringe. I keep remembering stupid things I said. She asked one question that I really don't think I answered at all, so she asked basically the same question with different wording. It was about what I SPECIFICALLY (she stressed that word) want to get out of the internship, and I wasn't exactly sure what she was looking for, so I think I was too vague. And she asked what Roundabout shows I've seen. Oh well, at least it's over. And who knows, maybe it went better than I thought.

Oh Christ, so she did ask what Roundabout shows you've seen. Of course she would! What did you say? Did you lie? Filibuster?? What did you say you're specifically looking to get out of the internship? Oh Lord, I'm cringing for you - not because of disapproval or anything, just because I'm over-empathizing.

So Nic, is this roomie as annoying as Crazy or no?

If this doesn't work out, maybe you could go into politics, Elph??

I'm sorry to hear it didn't go that great. I think the first ones always blow (just sucks when you can't have the first one be for something you really don't want). Even though I've been on oodles of interviews, the first one of the batch is always pretty painful. Pity the first one over the summer was New Line and the first on for the spring was Plum. Grrr!

What did you say about the Roundabout shows? I take it you didn't lie (probably wouldn't be the best idea anyway *nudges Tiff*).

Enjoy WtL. My mom picked it up and I plan on stealing it when I go home for spring break. Speaking of Joaquin, did you see who he was reportedly seen at the Strokes concert with??? Mario Batali, that crazy red-head Italian chef who wears those silly Crocs shoes. Random.

And finally...no more HP guilt, I can't take it!

Oh, and apparently I'm going to see BBM again tonight. Maybe it'll be better the second time around. "Jack Twist...more like Jack Nasty." I'll try to contain my laughter (it was tough the first time around, let me tell ya).

I have to admit my friend and I were probably the worst audience members at BBM BECAUSE of that line. It was already a pretty crappy audience because people kept GIGGLING during the intimate scenes, which I thought was SO immature, and we were shooting looks of disdain. And then at the Jack Nasty line, she and I just cracked our sh!t up, shaking with suppressed laughter. It was like the guy-hitting-the-propeller-in-Titanic moment. SO not funny, but HYSTERICAL at the same time!

Okay, I'll be honest (ironically) - I totally would've lied if they had asked me what Roundabout shows I'd seen. I figure since I own a *ahem* footwear of Assassins, and I'm vaguely familiar with the Assassins, Cabaret and Nine music (or could acquaint myself with it quickly before the interview), and since, PEOPLE! We're on a BROADWAY BOARD!...it's not like it would be hard to know who was in each show, who won what award, etc. So I would've said something about how Assassins was an excellent show, so deserving of the Tony nominations, and made me a fan of Michael Cerveris, whom I saw in Sweeney Todd because of my enjoyment of him in Assassins. I would've said I was enthralled with the performances in Nine, and was glad to see so many strong female roles, especially Laura Benanti. And I'd give some mention of Cabaret, and my desire to see Three Penny Opera.

So yes, I would lie. Because it's not like they'd ask you technical questions as if you'd worked on them. They'd ask your opinion as a theatregoer, and they just want to know that YOU know their past productions. So yup, I'm Pinocchio right here! (But when it comes to stuff I don't know about, like, *ahem* politics...I've learned my lesson. I won't lie there!)

Oh, and Niiiiic...

Nic, I basically took your advice. I said that I tried to see The Pajama Game this week but that I couldn't get a ticket. Then I went into how I'm very excited to see Threepenny Opera. Tiff, I'm not as quick on my feet as you are! Why can't I have your quick verbal and thinking skills to come up with some answer about the brilliance of Assassins?? And when she asked about what I'm specifically looking to get out of the internship and what appealed to me about it, I said that I wanted to interact with students and went into a whole tirade on that (because I'm applying for the education department), and then she said something like, "well, you're applying for the summer term, so you should realize that there won't be that much interaction with students because school is out..." Whoops.

Well at least you mentioned wanting to see The Pajama Game and Threepenny Opera, so it's not like you went, "Have I seen any shows? Uh...no." You still showed that you've got some knowledge of their productions!

Oh, I don't know if I'd say I'm quick on my feet. I'd probably just think of the few shows I know from Roundabout, and spew everything I know about them (which is why I'd bring up the Tonys, the cast and the cast's recent projects). It would sound like verbal diarrhea though - not too coherent!

"well, you're applying for the summer term, so you should realize that there won't be that much interaction with students because school is out..." Whoops.

*cringe* Did she actually say, "So you should realize..."? Oy. Bitchy. Well, if you're applying for summer term, you'd be interacting with other students who are interning, right?? Or did you mean interacting with students who are using the Roundabout shows for their courses?

I suppose if you're going to lie, you have to lie with finesse and confidence. That Assassins/Cerveris line was a gem, Tiff!

And that woman does sound kind of wenchy. Why would they continue to offer the Education Internship if they weren't going to have students. Aren't there summer school type programs (not necessarily "summer school" like I flunked out of math and need to take it over the summer, but like summer programs where kids would be doing something theater activity-wise with Roundabout???). What would that position require if there aren't going to be students? Coming up with the plans they'll use when the kids come back in the fall?!?

Anyway, BBM was pretty good the second time around. I think I liked it a bit more this time. Though, the audience was RIDICULOUS! First, there was an infant somewhere in the theater. It wasn't really crying, but it definitely was on the vocal side (for at least the first hour, solid...then a couple times on and off after that).

Then, I had the awful gigglers like you had, Tiff. It was so obnoxious. There was a pair of young women next to us (probably in their early 20s...definitely old enough not to be so immature) laughing hysterically during the entire sex scene in the tent, which led to a spattering of other groups to break out into uncomfortable giggling. It was really embarrassing to think sit through. (Obviously,) Not what was on screen, but the reaction from the audience. I can't believe that they were so immature. You'd think it was a group of 12 year olds or something. Funny, that was the first part the baby was quiet during (well, I suppose I might just not have been able to hear it over all the gaffawing). Oh man, this is gonna be loooong!

Hey, are you all watching Conan in Finland tonight?!??! Looks like a winner!!! I can't wait.

I'm with Nic - what's the responsibility of the Education intern if you don't get to deal with students??

I'll probably get around to re-watching BBM some time this week. I would hate to watch it in theatres again - the scene itself isn't uncomfortable to watch until you hear people giggling (and giggling again every single time they make gooey eyes or kiss), and then KNOWING it makes other people uncomfortable makes YOU uncomfortable!

I've been meaning to watch GNAGL but I never get around to it. I'm also hoping to see "She's The Man" (quality, I tell ya!), "V For Vendetta" and "Failure To Launch" soon. "Failure To Launch" has been getting dismal reviews though, and I bet "She's The Man" will too.

Will definitely be watching Conan and the lookalike Finnish politician tonight!

I definitely had an odd reaction to the excessive laughing. The first time I saw it, we had a really respectful audience, and all was good. Not uncomfortable at all...but I totally caught myself blushing with all the gaffawers going crazy. I don't know. It was awkward to say the least. It wasn't even uncomfortable laughing for a lot of the people (like the girls next to us). They were laughing like it was straight up (no pun intended) laugh-out-loud comedy. Then the uncomfortable laughter from others started to follow.

I want to see V for Vendetta as well. And there's a new Michael Keaton/Robert Downy Jr (who's going to be at Inside the Actors Studio Sunday, btw...can't wait) movie, Game 6 (about that horrid, horrid WS game between the Sox/Mets in 86...F*CKing Buckner!) that I want to see. I've hear horrid things about Failure to Launch. Definitely a renter (or even wait for HBO) for me. You should definitely get around to GN&GL though. And have you seen Ca-poe-tay, yet?

I saw Failure to Launch tonight. It was cute. Very predictable and formulaic and not the best script, but I like Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker a lot. I'm very excited about V for Vendetta as well. It was funny, I went to the Hetta Gabler stage door and I mentioned to Hugo Weaving that I was looking forward to the film and he said something like, "Oh, that's coming out soon, isn't it?" as if he had no idea. He must be very dedicated to Hetta Gabler right now. Oh man, this is gonna be loooong!

When I saw BBM the audience was very good. I'm sorry you had to deal with a crappy audience, because I know it takes away from the experience of watching the film.

The interview lady was incredibly nice. I'm not sure if that was her exact quote about interacting with students, but even though she said something like that, she said it very kindly. Oh man, this is gonna be loooong! And she went on to explain that there is some interaction with kids, but that there would be other things involved as well (which of course I expected). I just felt kinda stupid, and as if she thought I didn't completely understand what the internship entails (which I believe I do, but the thing about working with kids was the first thing that popped into my mind as an answer to her question).

Hey, so you ARE still volunteering at ITAS, right? And QE, too? How's QE? Is this your week off?

Haven't seen Ca-po-tay yet (and from now on, I'm going to call it that, because Jack made it sound so dirty!). Is it still in theatres or will I have to rent it? I so love PSH - I'll probably wind up watching Mi3 just because of him. And him plus Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon...Oh man, this is gonna be loooong! (I think Ralph Fiennes is my Joaquin for you guys...not conventionally handsome, but has that charisma and acting chops that makes him so goddamn compelling in all his movies!)

So Failure To Launch wasn't a total failure? I was LOLing at Ebert's pan of it.

So what else is on the internship horizon if not Roundabout?

Failure to Launch definitely had its problems, but I still had fun watching it, even though some scenes were so awful they were cringeworthy. It's one of those movies that you have to go into not expecting much out of it. I'm gonna go find Ebert's review now!
ETA: HAHA. That's hilarious (the review). I agree with him that Zooey Deschanel is good; she's one of my favorite actresses, so I'm happy to watch her in anything.
Tiff, is this true?: "You know the joke about how polite Canadians are. If a movie is great, they say it's "very good," and if a movie is terrible, they say it's "fairly good.""

I've applied for a few other internships, like MTC, New Dramatists, New Victory...I dunno, there doesn't seem to be much hope. I might end up as a camp counselor again this summer (which isn't so bad).

Ca-po-tay is still playing here, but it comes out on DVD on the 21st.

I'm not working at ITAS, but I got a pass to go see RDJr from the English Department. Dustin Hoffman is going to be here on Monday, but I have class, and Don Cheadle is going to be here on Friday. I'd LOVE to go see him, but I'll either be hopping a bus home Friday evening or my mom will be in town (we might go apt shopping next weekend and catch a show...I still owe my mom a bday present) and if she's here, I'm sure we'll go out and do something for St. Patrick's Day. Sorry, Don! Poor timing.

I like Matthew and SJP as well, but I still think I'm going to hold off and catch it on DVD. Besides, I really have very little desire to see Terry Bradshaw's bare ass on the big screen! Talk about uncomfortable laughter!

And us Canadians aren't THAT weenie! If a movie's good, it's very good. If it's bad, it's "could've been worse!" Oh man, this is gonna be loooong!

At least if you're camp couselor, you'll make cash. Could be worse!

Oh my, I think RDJr and Don Cheadle would be my top choices over Dustin (he's okay, but I heart the other two). Where are you going apt hunting?? Keep me posted - I find this exciting! Are you looking for the summer/fall?

Yeah, I'd prefer RDJ and Don as well. Ideally, I'd love to see all three though. I love how they get 3 great actors in one week (the week of midterms, mind you). Oh, and did I tell you that Ralph Fiennes was on ITAS last semester? I couldn't go though. I think I had a Theater Talk show that night. I enjoy Ralph, but Joseph is one fine Fiennes! Aaaahhhh!! His eyes! UGH!

I think we're going to check out Astoria next weekend. I'm pretty much giving up on Manhattan. So, SO expensive for the space, and Brooklyn kind of scares me. There are some gorgeous neighborhoods, but they're really just as expensive as Manhattan. I don't know. All the good words about Astoria on that thread piqued my interest. I'll keep you posted, Tiff. I know you wanted to fly solo if you end up coming to New York (trust me, I'd certainly prefer to live alone too) but chances are, I'll probably be looking for a roomie. Oh man, this is gonna be loooong!

Where exactly IS Astoria? Is it the northern part of Brooklyn? What subways would get you there? And watch out for these broker fees. They seem exhorbitant!

And yeah, as much as I say I want to live alone, realistically I'll probably need a roomie, and I don't have a fetish for cold temperature, spoon squeakily with my non-boyfriend, or steal all the toilet paper. So I think we'd make good roommates. Oh man, this is gonna be loooong!
