Well, to be fair, they've also got Sondheim and Goo Goo Dolls/Good Charlotte, so it's not like they're totally trapped. I wanted to do U2 as one of the earlier rounds, but a certain ex-judge pulled the whole, "Why not wait till later when only the high-calibre singers are left?" and I went along with it, not realizing we had high-calibre singers ever since round, like, 3.
Ahhh...I guess that's not so bad then. I'll definitely be listening this week! Promise this time!
*sniffle* I was relying on youse!
Sorry! I'm still looking forward to it...
Bump!
There's a video on YouTube from The Strokes concert that we went to, Nic. It's of Ask Me Anything. Does anyone know if you can download their vids?
The Strokes 3/4
I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but thanks for the link. I have no idea about downloading/saving videos. I think we all know about my computer (un)savviness!
I'm so not savvy on videos either.
Nic, I'll respond to your PM in a bit. I'm decompressing now, but from what I read, I agree totally with your assessment.
Claire, did you end up hearing from Roundabout? Will you officially become my best connected friend in New York?
*pushes Nic out of the way*
[Call me when the Queer Eyes get back from Vegas, darling.]
Hey guys! Not much new here. QE was on hiatus last week, so I'll be back at work on Thursday. I forget if they're going to Vegas this week or next. But it should be pretty quiet in the office. And maybe now I'll find out what's up with the other mystery Thursday intern. I've only seen her once, the entire time I've been there. Was she always on set? Has she been fired? Did she quit? Her name's still up on the intern board, even though others that have left (fired or quit, I don't know) have been erased. Curious?!?!?
Oh, and I guess Bono said in some interview in Australia yesterday that they plan on finishing the tour in NOVEMBER! He said that they should be really special shows. That best mean One Tree Hill for NZ, dammit!
Ugh, I have been so absent from this thread lately. I royally suck.
Just popping in to say hello and I am swear to God I am going to be more "present".
Good night, and good luck.
Speaking of which, GN&GL is out on DVD today, so you'll finally be able to see it, Pat!
And you really haven't been that absent lately. Other than the chatter about the 4th leg of the tour being postponed because of Edge's daughter's illness and Claire's interview at Roundabout, I don't think there's been a whole lot going on here. Well, I suppose you did miss YWIW?? and my scintillating discussion (aka, shameless gushing) about our cats.

I saw it last week, Nic. My video store throws all caution to the wind in regards to release dates. I saw it the day after the Oscars as absolutely loved it. I thought it was the best of the Best Picture nominees. (Munich doesn't count despite the fact I haven't see it.)

Ah, YWIW gushing about cats is one of my favorite pasttimes. In fact, in honor of that I'll post some pictures of my boys!
And here are some from when they were kittens:
I can't express how much I am looking forward to being in New York this weekend with absolutely nothing specific planned. I know I am seeing Sweeney, but even that doesn't have a firm date. It's kind of liberating. :)

GAH!!! I LOVE the pictures, Pat!!! The St. Patty's hat, and Kitty in a Shirt!!!
Have fun in the city this weekend! Sounds like you've been a little stressed and could use the break. I think my mom's coming in on Friday and we were going to try to see Sweeney on Saturday evening, but it was kind of a last minute decision, and they're sold out of the cheap rear-mezz seats, so I don't think that'll be happening. We'll see.
I also really liked GN&GL. I was really hoping for it (or Ca-po-TAY) to pull some sort of miraculous upset.
Yay, I am glad you like my boys!
I am hoping to see it standing room actually. So the fact that the rear mezz is sold out is actually very encouraging.
I'm not so sure about how encouraging the rear mezz being sold out is. When I went in December, I got the last ticket for a Saturday matinee in the rear mezz (the $36 seats) a few days before the show. When I went, the mezz (other than the first couple rows in the center) was pretty empty. We all got to move down to the front. I think people just scoff up the cheap seats first. When I looked earlier in the week, they still had row B in the center mezz available, so I'm kind of having my doubts that it'll end up being sold out. We'll probably look into it though, because I think that'd be the only viable option. I don't really think we're up for "splurging" for TKTS.
Once again, Nic's dose of reality sends my fleeting hopes crashing to ground.
You should be a motivational speaker.
Heehee. Poor Pat! Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find a way to see Sweeney. When I saw it (rear mezz) it was sold out and they sold standing room tickets. The rest of the tickets might sell quickly and it could sell out by the time the weekend rolls around. If you're seeing it on a weekend, there's a good chance that it'll sell out and you'll get standing room. And if you're willing to do TKTS, it might be available there. It sounds like you'll have a great trip! No other plans, eh? Any possibilities that you're thinking about? And your cats are ADORABLE!
Tiff, I should hear from Roundabout in a couple of weeks, and then it'll only be to tell me if I got a second interview or not. So any final decisions from anyone seem a long way off. Which is kinda scary because I should start considering other options and get working on those in case an internship doesn't pan out.
Sorry to dash your hopes, Pat. But really, it's better to go in with low expectations (or expectations of having to spend the extra cash) and having the potential to be pleasantly surprised, right?!?...I hate being the bubble burster...But if it makes you feel any better, I'm in the exact same boat! Maybe the evening show will end up selling out (this morning it looked like all the best available seats were off to the side in Row O of the orchestra. Maybe by the weekend it'll be sold out??? *fingers crossed*
No specific plans, Claire. I like it better that way. We are going to have some recording sessions for Sunset and 42nd and probably walk around and hang out. That works for me.
As for Sweeney, even if it isn't sold out I'll buy whatever orchestra seats are available and just stand in SRO if they'll let me. I've really got this mental block about sitting in a cramped seat theatre since the last two episodes.
Pats - I love the picture of the kitten on the leopard blanket, and how tiny they were, and how big they are now!
You kitties are just adorable, both the Jr and Mega sizes!
Oh, and photo of sleeping Stephen and the two little kitties makes my icicle heart melt, and almost makes me think he's not such a prat after all!
What other plans do you have for NY, Stephen? Are you staying with Clay this time? (Rrorr.) Did you guys ever end up doing your horseride through Central Park?
AND TAKE SOME FREAKIN' VITAMIN C AND ECHIACHEA so you don't get sick before your trip, for chrissakes!
No worries, he gave it to me ahead of time to make sure he did not get sick this time!
Sorry to hear that your crapmped seating last time around has scarred you for life! Some theaters definitely are worse than others.
How long are you staying? The week? Just a long weekend? Have fun with your planless trip. Sometimes it really is better to just go with the flow, rather than having everything meticulously mapped out, only to get screwed up by one thing or another.
YWIW, you're the reason I figured I'd hammer this into his head!
Oh, did he say this is a deliberately planless trip? (This is what happens when I make idle conversation without actually reading everything that oaf writes!)
I think he's there from Friday til Monday. I'm sure he's leaving Monday; don't remember when he's arriving.
Ahh, a pretty quick trip then. I think it's supposed to snow on Friday, but I'm not sure what they're predicting for the rest of the weekend.
I really need to get back to my paper, but really, I can only take so much of characterizing Howards End as "the quintessential Bloomsbury novel." Zzzzzz...There are occasional moments in that class that are really fascinating, but the horribly dull parts definitely outweigh the interesting bits about 10:1. And this class should not be a three hour seminar once a week from 6-9...on a Thursday no less. It's really just about the last place I want to be Thursday night (especially after coming off a 9 hour stint at QE). UGH!
