Oh God, 3 straight hours on it on a Thursday night?? On top of QE, that's MUST SEE TV!! Wow, you're committed, lady!

(And can I just say that I actually yawned at "quintessential Bloomsbury"?)

Yeah, we are just coming in Friday afternoon-Monday afternoon. Short trip.

We are mainly coming to hang out and I am relieved to have a ball breaking schedule that I won't follow anyway. Ack! What will the future bring?

I am not staying with Clay. It was discussed initially, but we opted to avoid being in their hair 24/3. We are staying at the QT again.

Taking that stuff wouldn't have prevented the type of illness I had, Tiff. A cork would have been more appropriate.

The preceding lovely mental image was brought you by Velveeta. It's the real thing!

Oh, it's hellish. I sit through the entire class counting down the minutes (literally, I usually jot out the minutes by the time it gets to about the last hour and tick them off in my notebook) waiting anxiously for 9 to roll around so I can run back to watch My Name is Earl and The Office. By the time they're over, I'm pretty much shot for the night. Speaking of The Office, I'm so excited for Thursday's show!! Bring your kids to work day=GENIUS!

Well, I've only got about 2 1/2 pages left on this damn paper. I'll try to knock out another page tonight, then I guess I'll finish it off tomorrow when I get out of class in the afternoon. I still have 3-4 pages to write for my 60s midterm too. Then, I'll officially be done and ready for spring (non)break!!! I'm actually kind of looking forward to reading some of my Dylan stuff though. There are certainly worse things I could be stuck reading (like a week full of Bloomsbury stuff!). Bet $20 he assigns a novel or something for the break...and then I shall cry. Ack! What will the future bring?

The only problem with you guys staying here would be that I can not seem to get the place clean enough. It is freaking me out, I can't get it clean.

I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

And some how that curry I was just going to reheat for dinner is not very appealing anymore.

I don't know when my next NY trip will be - if I go to school in Montreal or Ontario, it'll probably be in October or November. If I go to school out west, I probably won't be there until Summer 2007. And if I'm not in school at all, I'll probably be sleeping on Nic's couch for a month and doing the street corner bit.

The plan is to go back to Europe in June-July, 2007 - if we have some extra cash saved, we'd probably spend a few nights in NY on the way to London.

I know, I can't wait for The Office this week too, Nic! I haven't been following Earl as much as I did earlier. I usually watch CSI at 9:00, and if it's a good one, I'll watch it the whole way and tape The Office, or else I'll just kill time until 9:30.

Hmmm...I don't know if the street corner bit will be as lucrative in Astoria, Tiff. I'm hoping not! I'm such a borough-phobe! I'm meeting with some girl this weekend that's got a 2 bedroom in Astoria and is looking for a roommate. As much as I'd love to put my roommate days behind me, I just don't think that's going to happen.

I didn't really watch Earl that much at the beginning of the series, but I've gotten a bit more into it lately (mainly because there's not really much of anything else on from 9-9:30, before The Office comes on). The Office cannot be missed! God, I love that show. Ahhh, the Jim/Pam drama. Did you see it 2 weeks ago? What are your thoughts...is Jim going to storm Pam's wedding and make her call it off. I don't really want them to get together (not yet anyway, I'm loving the will they/won't they tension too much) but I don't think she can marry Roy. No way...I'm also loving the Kelly/Ryan bit. She's such a riot!

I thought you were going to Europe this summer...or did you end up opting for Asia (or did it get pushed back entirely for a year)??

Blast! I was just chatting with my mom (she was trolling the net on her lunch break) and I guess they're running crazy cheap fares to Seattle ($89 each way), but it's only through April 5th or something. I totally could have paid you a visit, Tiff! Ack! What will the future bring? They also had $180 round trip to LA (through August)! Hmmm...never been to CA.

What's your budget? I'd say if you've got, like, $1200/month, for me personally, I would rather get a tiny place in Manhattan instead of a bigger place in the boroughs with roommates, but then again, I'm as much of a boroughs-phobe as you!

Nah, Europe was always meant for next year (to coincide with the final Harry Potter release...*cough*). Asia was also meant for next year, but I doubt that's going to happen. It sucks; I can't make any plans until I know for sure if I'm going to law school, where I'm going, and when I'll be done the spring semester.

I missed The Office for the last two weeks since I've been working, and I'm an idiot who forgets to tape things. Do I need to read the NBC synopsis?

GAH! $89 each way from NY to Seattle?? DO IT!! What classes on the weekend of April 1 can you blow off? Can you take time off of Queer Eye? Skip Bloomsbu---zzzzz...???

My budget is probably in the $1000 neighborhood (give or take a bit). Even though I'm a borough-phobe, I think I'd rather have the extra space for the money. Well, I don't know. It's a tough call. If (and it's a big if, because I'm fairly convinced it's impossible to find anything remotely desirable in Manhattan in the $1000 range) I were able to find something in Manhattan, where I could live alone, and it was on the small-side, I might consider if it was in a decent neighborhood, near transportation, etc. For me, I'm not willing to spend $1000+ to have a tiny room in a shared space in a 6th floor walkup that's 5 Avenues away from the subway. I'd rather spend $700 and have a decent sized room and be in Queens. I've abandoned Brooklyn, because it seems either sketchy safety-wise or just as expensive as Manhattan. I wish I could have jumped on the Dumbo train after my freshman year when I put in my initial apt. hunt. Grrr!!!

If I'd known about the Seattle deal earlier, I might have been able to get myself together enough that I could have possibly gone for spring break, but I really can't do that now. At this point, I've pushed off my thesis so long that I really need to spend the whole break catching up on that. That's what I get for procrastinating. If I hadn't been so bad about it, I would have been able to jump on that great deal! (And it was out of Providence, not NY...they've got a Chinatown bus that goes to Providence though).

I'm considering LA. I'd need to find someone that would be willing to go with me though. We'll see.

That last post was long enough, so rather than edit it to add my little blurb about The Office, I'm just bumping this up.

Last week's episode was a repeat of "Diversity Day" from season one. Then the week before, Dwight got some award for having the most sales and he had to go give some speech. There was a whole thing about him not knowing what to do in his speech, so Jim told him that he was a Public Speaking major in college and got him to rant around like some sort of dictatorial lunatic.

Jim also decided to go on a vacation (which will conveniently coincide w/ Pam's wedding). He was going to Australia, I think. It was an ok episode. The whole Dwight thing took up too much time, I think...Tomorrow's episode looks good though!

LA is fun, you should go!

I'm bringing us back on topic. The Edge was named Best Guitarist by Esquire Magazine! Hooray! Nic, is he going to have some competition from you? How's your guitar-playing going?

Have you all seen the Bono interview on Enough Rope? It's an Australian talk show and the host, Andrew Denton, has a long interview with Bono (about an hour long). I downloaded it from Interference. It's a huge file (350mb), but it's worth it if you haven't seen it. He talks about rescheduling the tour dates, his activism and world leaders, and other stuff. He goes into his usual spiels, like talking about how we're not asking Bush to put a man on the moon but to put man back on earth, and how the One Campaign will soon be bigger than the NRA, but there's some good stuff in there as well. He's working on starting The Red Campaign now (for AIDS), which I'm excited to hear more about. He does some funny impressions of politicians and financiers. Here's my choice quotes:

~"I thought he (George W. Bush) looked rather enviously at my glasses."
~"Don't ask nuns to give out condoms."
~"All the commandments I've broken, and the ones I haven't I've probably wanted to."
~"People are the problem, really. God gets a lot of bad press."
~"I have seen him (Bob Geldof) try to bite Prime Ministers."
~"We (the band) have this huge desire amongst the four of us to not be crap."
~"At any given moment one of us is being a wanker, and it's usually probably me."

Just giving this a little bump because I need a mini-break from my damn Bloomsbury paper. Only one paragraph and the conclusion to go though! Whoo!

Claire, I'd say Edge's guitar title is pretty safe. I've only played around with it a couple times (I've been too busy this past week), and it's pretty rough. We'll see though. I've picked around with Stay, but it's definitely slow going. And strumming kind of baffles me.

That picture was quite the trip, Elph. Mother Bono. What a fright!!!

#542Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a Guinness for the boys!!!
Posted: 3/17/06 at 8:27am

Hey all--

Ummm...the rest of The Office. Meredith's son continued to be a beast. Stanley's daughter was hitting on Ryan in the kitchen (and there was a rather hilarious cut to Kelley watching through the windows). Dwight told all the kiddies an old Schrute family traditional story (a very Shockheaded Peter-esque tail about children sucking their thumbs and getting them cut off with scissors). Oh, then Michael tryed bonding with the kids and told them that he used to be on TV, so he sent Ryan to his mother's house (to break in, essentially) to grab his guitar and a copy of the video. They later played it in the conference room and he was like 8-10, in a suit, and was being interviewed by a puppet dog thing and was like "When I grow up, I want to get married and have a hundred babies, because then they'll all be my friends, because they have to be, because they're my kids, and I'll have 100 friends."...with a lisp. Tres amusant (yet, so sad!). Guess that's about it.

Anyway, gotta get ready for work.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Drink, be merry, and stay safe!!! Don't do anything Bono wouldn't do! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a Guinness for the boys!!!

Aww, that sounds like a good ending. I can't wait until it's on DVD and I can get my ass all caught up!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, ladies!

One year ago today, I was freezing my ass off outside of GM Place, waiting for my moment to meet the boys during their rehearsal!

About two hours from now, I'd have my cheek pressed up against the window, listening to them try out Bullet!

Just a quickie...Home for spring break. Feeling exceedingly lazy!

Pat, how was your trip to NYC? Did you get to see Sweeney? My mom and I tried for a couple of shows on Saturday, but we got stuck in traffic driving into the city, and ended up getting in around 11, instead of 9:30, so yeah...yet another trip into the city for my mom, when the weather was kind of crap (it was SO COLD AND WINDY!!! BRRRR!!!) where we didn't really do much of anything.

Ummm, what else?! Oh, you guys will be proud to know that I've picked up paperback copies of 3 HP books. They were on sale at a discount store for a couple bucks each, so I got 1, 3, and 4. They didn't have 2, so I'll have to scrounge that up somewhere. I'm going to look at the used section of our little book store in town, because I seem to remember them having a few when I was home for the winter break.

Gotta run. Off to the library, then to meet my folks later on for dinner. Talk to you guys later. Hope you had a great St. Patrick's day...Anyone have corned beef and cabbage and some Guinness? My evening was kind of SH*Tty (had to stay at work until quarter of 7 and missed my train, etc), which nixed going out to dinner, so I ended up having a cold wrap/fries and some Killian's (still Irish, so that's gotta count for something...well, quasi-Irish, even though it's brewed in the States...whatever). But really, who cares about my St. Patty's Day woes?!? I certainly don't! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a Guinness for the boys!!!

Oh, and Tiff, I have the VH1 Legends on DVD. So one of these days, when I get a burner, I'll make you a copy! Ugh! I still have stuff to send you. When I get back from spring break. Promise!

*pounces* HOORAY! Did you start reading #1 yet? Do it! Do it! Do it!!! (But don't read them out of sequence.)

Sorry your St. Patty's was ****ty! I didn't really do much - went out for a late dinner with friends and every bar and restaurant was packed, so even with a reservation with had a 20 minute wait!

No rush on the DVDs. Your care box is still here too...along with the Halloween chocolate that I haven't even dipped into! I'm thinking at some point I'll have to demolish the Halloween chocolate myself and replace it with Easter chocolate...oh dear.

My St. Patty's Day wasn't anything exciting, either. I had green cake at my school's cafeteria. That was the extent of my celebrating. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Have a Guinness for the boys!!!

Yes! Use your spring break to read Harry Potter, Nic! And like Tiff said, don't read them out of order. Get #2 from the library or something before you read #3. 4 and 5 are the best, but they're all fantastic and you'll only appreciate 4 and 5 if you read the others first.

I'm swamped with work right now, so I'm stressed. And I'm impatient about hearing from internship possibilities.

Oh, I definitely had no intention of reading them out of sequence. Though it was a bit of a pisser that they had 1, 3, and 4, but no 2 to be found. Grrr! But the other 3 were like $10 all together (and they were new!), so I guess if I have to spring for #2 at full price, it'll still have been a steal.

I'm not going to start reading any of them yet. They went into my box o' books to read after I graduate. I just got two 400+ page Dylan books from the library, so I'll be picking at those this week. I definitely don't need to get sucked into the first HP book and then have thousands of pages of the others in the series just sitting there begging me to read them when I have so much other stuff to do. I think I'm better off just waiting until the summer.

Anyway, guess that's about it. Talk to you guys later.
