Of course there is still plenty of time for the to get distracted, freaked out, discouraged or all together terrified and none of this will actually go into motion.
This may be old news in this thread, but I just noticed and haven't had time read old posts.
Did you guys know that Julia Murney covers "Beautiful Day" on her new solo album?
The sample track is still up on Sh-K-Boom.

I think I am going to iTunes this today.

Giving the thread a bump...eek, it's been a week since anyone's posted on it!!
Not much new here. Slowly trying to chip away at my thesis. I'm sort of getting there, but not really.
I finally got my hair cut...Claire, aren't you excited to see it tomorrow?!?!? It's kind of cute. My hair is usually pretty thick, and with the layers she put in, plus the excess weight gone, it's not as huge as it normally is...it's kind of freaking me out.
What else? Oh, I'll be graduating Summa Cum Laude, which is kind of exciting. I squeaked in right at the cut off. *phew* I was going to be livid if I missed it by 1/100th of a point.
I went to the Latin Honors/Honors Program Awards thing tonight. I was long and lame...as expected. I really just went for the food, which ended up being pretty bad. What a waste of time. I could have been here working on my project. Instead, I get back at quarter of 9 and feel totally unmotivated to jump back into doing work.
Guess that's about it...Three Days of Rain for Claire et moi tomorrow. Should be interesting.
Nearly a month gals. Nearly a month.
I wasn't too crazy about the single of Mary and the guys, but I've warmed up to it considerably.
Thoughts?
I've been keeping busy lately with all sort of projects and my baseball leagues.
Mabs, did you read the Harry Potter series yet?
Arg! Pat, I didn't even notice that last bump of yours! How sad.
I did indeed read all 6 HP books, so I'm officially caught up and hooked. You guys are a bunch of jerks getting me in on Potter-Mania with a year or so to go until book 7 comes out. Couldn't you have held off for a year and I could have read the others next summer?!?!?
I should throw something U2 related in here. U2exit.com has some clips of the boys rehearsing some new songs (in France, if memory serves). Some seem better than others (as can be expected for works in progress). I wonder if any new tunes will pop up when they resume the tour in the fall??
You wouldn't believe the conversations that come up between Anji and I about HP or with Clay and Sara over breakfast when we're together. We are dorks. :)
Yeah, I tried to bump it up almost two months ago and got absolutely no bites. Perhaps we should change the thread title to "mabel and Patronus occasionally bump this thread about U2 - come chat."
I miss you guys! We must get caught up!
Do I smell a questionnaire coming on?

I'd like to partake in your mildly amusing thread here, and yet I find that the thread has strayed from its original subject matter of a wildly successful Band from Dublin's Mount Temple, to one about how mabel is adicted to another wildly successful fictional novel series from Britain.
i.e.: Can we talk about U2 now?
If you can veer the convo back to our Irish lads, I'm all for it! It seems to have gotten a bit off course after the tour (particularly all our Vertigo concerts) had passed. Vmlinnie, did you see any shows this time around??
Tiff, by all means, I think it's time for you to dream up a new questionnaire. I'll alert Claire so she can pop in for a few to fill it out and possibly remain semi up-to-speed!
Pat, I sent you a PM last night, when you'd suggested we bump this, but my internet zapped out as I clicked send. Damned if I remember what I'd said in it though.
And before I scamper off (FINALLY had my summer job pan out, so I'm starting today...I'm hoping this means that after the long wait, as soon as I start my "real" job in the city will come beckoning!) *fingers crossed*...Anyway, back to concert news. Claire and I saw Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls at Jones Beach on Thursday. Good show. I actually rather liked GGD, at least on the songs Johnny sang. I've never been a huge fan of theirs, so I was pretty surprised the bass player, whatever his name is, sang so many songs. He's got way too much of a "I'm trying to be weird a la Keith Richards" vibe for me. It just comes across as pathetic, imho.
Anyway, CC were excellent. It was my first time seeing them, though I wish it hadn't been a double bill so they could have played more than 12 songs (and we got an extra, believe it or not!). I've got to get going and get ready for work, but I'll post a setlist later, and hopefully we can get back to some quality U2 banter!
vmlinnie, definitely hop right in. This thread has evolved and we have come to chat about just about anything as a group of friends, but feel free to post anything you want about U2 or anything else for that matter. You'll get sucked in too.
Wow, we got a Tiff appearance? When I was sitting at my computer yesterday thinking about how I've been on BWW for nearly a year and this thread I heard a voice...
"If you bump it, she will come."
I just assumed it was something sexual and moved on. Who knew it was about Tiff?!?!?! Delighted to see you dear. I think a new questionnaire is a must.
Mabel, no worries on the PMs. I was in a bit of a PM frenzy at that time anyway as all of the people attending Sweeney's closing were PMing me at what seemed like the exact same time. I'm just glad that this thread got bumped up. The boys need us and our publicity.
Perhaps it's an onset of early PMS but I can't help but thinking that if this thread is just "mildly amusing" for you, well, there's the door and don't let it hit your ass on your way out.
However, if you can conduct a conversation without any condescending remarks about this humble little neighbourhood thread, please feel free to join in. This is the second volume of a U2 thread; the original was locked after we hit 5000 posts (and contained our thoughts on all things U2 and much discussion of the current Vertigo tour), and THAT thread stayed on topic for the majority of the time.
Now to read Pat and Mabel's most recent posts...
Pat, if you think about it: "If you bump it, she will come" is really right up there with some of the raunchiest comments that used to litter this thread back in the day. Way to bring it back home, bud!
How goes it, Tiff, m'dear?!?!? Any good work lately? Is the cuticle fiasco still trailing you on the call sheets??
"If you bump it, she will come"??? What do I have to get caught UP on?!!
Anyway, as luck would have it, I'm running out the door to go shopping. Will be back in a few hours and I want to know every little detail from you guys!
In the meantime, can you drudge up an old questionnaire or come up with a new one for vmlinnie?
Ugh! Dig for an old questionnaire through oodles of pages, while you go shopping. How is this fair, you wench?!?
Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll just come up with a new one. It'll probably end up being pretty standard issue. Whatever.
Happy shopping! Get good deals!

No mabel, I didn't see any Vertigo shows, They played three nights at Ireland's biggest Stadium (about 80,000 to 90,000 capacity) and it was booked out each night.
Ok, let's see...
New Questionnaire:
1.) What do you think of the new songs that they boys were rehearsing in France (see link to U2exit.com)?
2.) Favorite song du jour?
3.) Favorite moment/song/etc from a concert you attended?
4.) Will the new leg starting in November be a cop-out carbon copy of the rest of the Vertigo Tour, or will they dust off some old gems? Predictions?
5.) What's the last concert you attended, U2 or other?
6.) What do we think of Bono's Pop-inspired new 'do?
7.) Adam supposedly got married or was supposed to be getting married to "Susi" sometime soon-ish. Do you believe this, or do you believe that Adam is really a big ol' queen who's still coming to terms with his unrequited love of Bono (I think we know how I feel about this!)?
8.) Miracle Drug or OotS?
9.) Is Edge indeed a Spaceman from the Future, and if so, do we believe him that it truly is better?
9b.) What "Miracle Drug" do you believe Bono was on when he came up with this nonsense on 10/14/05??
10.) Snakes on a Plane, yay or nay??

Oh, I meant to say this:
As I go to school in Dublin I play many other schools in Dublin in hockey matches, and I played in goal against Mount Temple, the U2 boys' former school, and we won 3-1!
Yes, it's a crap brag but I had to give it a shot!
Yes, it's a crap brag but I had to give it a shot!
Some of the best brags are simple "crap" brags. That's pretty cool!
Pat, if you think about it: "If you bump it, she will come" is really right up there with some of the raunchiest comments that used to litter this thread back in the day. Way to bring it back home, bud!
You know me! I take pride in that uncanny ability to both lower the bar and raise it all in the same post.
I'll post again soon with the survey. :)
1.) What do you think of the new songs that they boys were rehearsing in France?
I like them from what I could hear. Sadly, that wasn't much.
2.) Favorite song du jour?
"Elevation" has been in heavy rotation with my "Daily Playlists" lately.
3.) Favorite moment/song/etc from a concert you attended?
Wow, that's tough. During the Elevation tour the names of the 9/11 victims was extremely moving.
4.) Will the new leg starting in November be a cop-out carbon copy of the rest of the Vertigo Tour, or will they dust off some old gems? Predictions?
I don't follow it closely enough to really know the "safe answer" here but the boys rarely disappoint.
5.) What's the last concert you attended, U2 or other?
U2 Vertigo in NYC last November.
6.) What do we think of Bono's Pop-inspired new 'do?
Haven't really given it much thought. I'm the "guy" around here.
7.) Adam supposedly got married or was supposed to be getting married to "Susi" sometime soon-ish. Do you believe this, or do you believe that Adam is really a big ol' queen who's still coming to terms with his unrequited love of Bono (I think we know how I feel about this!)?
Can I choose both?
8.) Miracle Drug or OotS?
OotS hands down. It's my favorite song on the HTDAAB
9.) Is Edge indeed a Spaceman from the Future, and if so, do we believe him that it truly is better?
Of course he is. No ordinary earthling could kick that much ass using only a guitar. Obviously it's better - he's Edge.
9b.) What "Miracle Drug" do you believe Bono was on when he came up with this nonsense on 10/14/05??
Ridiculous amounts of money has a hallucinogenic quality.
10.) Snakes on a Plane, yay or nay??
Yay. Anyone other than Sam Jackson - big nay.

Ok, let's see...
1.) What do you think of the new songs that they boys were rehearsing in France (see link to U2exit.com)? Haven't had time to check it out. I will, though.
2.) Favorite song du jour? Party Girl (I'm an old-school fan!)
3.) Favorite moment/song/etc from a concert you attended? Nassau Coliseum, The Unforgettable Fire tour...the memory of sneaking all the way down to the floor with my friends Debbie and Stephanie and this really hot guy Paul Cohen from USY (this Hebrew school youth group we went to). Was in the freakin' 2nd row and it was a madhouse. Could. Not. Breathe. Or move. Had my hand on this guy's ass for maybe 15 minutes (could not move it!). Made eye contact with the Edge!
My favorite moment from every concert was that they closed with "40"...which I've heard they stopped doing. *sniffles*
4.) Will the new leg starting in November be a cop-out carbon copy of the rest of the Vertigo Tour, or will they dust off some old gems? Predictions?
Oh I have no idea. I haven;t been to a U2 concert in about 10 years. I prefer the old stuff, though I liked quite a few songs off of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. If I had my dream song list, it would include lots of early tunes off of Boy, October, War The Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree. And of course I'd have to hear Party Girl and 11 O'Clock Tick Tock!
5.) What's the last concert you attended, U2 or other? INXS (with JD Fortune) at Radio City Music Hall.
6.) What do we think of Bono's Pop-inspired new 'do? I haven't seen it yet! I'll have to go investigate.
7.) Adam supposedly got married or was supposed to be getting married to "Susi" sometime soon-ish. Do you believe this, or do you believe that Adam is really a big ol' queen who's still coming to terms with his unrequited love of Bono (I think we know how I feel about this!)? Who is Susi? Jesus I'm out of the loop! As far as an unrequited love for Bono, don't we all?
8.) Miracle Drug or OotS? OotS
9.) Is Edge indeed a Spaceman from the Future, and if so, do we believe him that it truly is better? Naw, just one of the coolest guys in the world.
9b.) What "Miracle Drug" do you believe Bono was on when he came up with this nonsense on 10/14/05?? He drinks a whiskey drink, he drinks a vodka drink, he drinks a lager drink...
10.) Snakes on a Plane, yay or nay?? Nay.
Helloooo! Shopping was...productive, as always. I went way over the customs limit when I was in Seattle this weekend and had to take off a few price tags, tear up a few receipts and wear a godawful amount of layers for 80F weather so I wouldn't have to pay tax on them!
And then go shopping again today to get everything else I "missed".
Okay, now a questionnaire for you guys!
1. What are you doing this summer? What have you been doing for the summer so far? What are your plans in the fall and winter?
2. Seen any good shows and movies lately?
3. What have been the newest song additions to your iPod/iPod-like device?
4. Any travel plans?
5. Love life?
6. Apartment situation?
7. Will I see you in NY in December???
Now I'll go answer the U2 questionnaire.
1.) What do you think of the new songs that they boys were rehearsing in France?
What songs were these???
2.) Favorite song du jour?
A lot of things on the Best of 80-90 B-Sides CD that I never really listened to before. And "Numb", strangely.
3.) Favorite moment/song/etc from a concert you attended?
Bono taking a little boy up on stage in Seattle and performed STYCMIOYO to him with tears in his eyes as the boy mouthed along. I got a bit misty. Oh, and when Adam and I had our "moment". Oh, and at Madison Square Garden when mabel totally gave that head-bopping guy in front of us the finger and took a picture just as his girlfriend turned around and saw her. That was classic. (I'm actually shaking with laughter as I type that.)
4.) Will the new leg starting in November be a cop-out carbon copy of the rest of the Vertigo Tour, or will they dust off some old gems? Predictions?
I think they'll do a pretty different tour with some "new" old gems for the Aussie dates since they've already done a leg in Aus for the Vertigo tour, but Tokyo, I'm guessing, will be pretty much a greatest hits set. That's my prediction.
5.) What's the last concert you attended, U2 or other?
Franz Ferdinand and Death Cab For Cutie in the spring.
6.) What do we think of Bono's Pop-inspired new 'do?
Haven't seen pics but generally speaking, I like him with stringy long hair better.
7.) Adam supposedly got married or was supposed to be getting married to "Susi" sometime soon-ish. Do you believe this, or do you believe that Adam is really a big ol' queen who's still coming to terms with his unrequited love of Bono (I think we know how I feel about this!)?
Oh, come on now. Susi went to the same Beard Prep School as Katie Holmes. Please.
8.) Miracle Drug or OotS?
OOTS, no contest. Miracle Drug's been a snoozer since MSG for me, and I still skip it when it comes on.
9.) Is Edge indeed a Spaceman from the Future, and if so, do we believe him that it truly is better?
I thought Edge was the Kung-Fu Master?!? Don't mess with my reality, Mabs!!!
9b.) What "Miracle Drug" do you believe Bono was on when he came up with this nonsense on 10/14/05??
I've been told that the scent of my arousal is intoxicating, and that arena sure was stuffy...
10.) Snakes on a Plane, yay or nay??
This movie's been a thorn in my side for a while now. You might remember I bitched about an IMDB bit regarding it several months ago. And I've got a pretty fun new job that's a really long story but I've got some good Hollywood gossip to dish! But long story short, NAY.
Jesus, way too much to reply to. First things first...T
-Tiff, there's a link at the bottom of my questionnaire to some new songs that they were rehearsing in France...sometime.
-Welcome, blueroses! Uforgettable Fire Tour...<---Tres jealous!
-V, I missed your reply before the questionnaire. We had a guy on the thread last summer who also got shut out of tix to all three Dublin shows, though he somehow managed to get a pair for the last night. Sounded like a hell of a show!! And that's wicked cool about your Mt. Temple connection!!!
Now to my questionnaire, and I'll probably have to come back to Tiff's later tonight, because I have to go into work early this morning...ick!
1.) What do you think of the new songs that they boys were rehearsing in France (see link to U2exit.com)?
I listened to them last week sometime, so I honestly don't remember any specifics (that might tell you something about them!). I think they kind of got better as they went along, but I don't recall anything terribly exciting there.
2.) Favorite song du jour?
I've been liking Seconds a lot lately. Good choice on Party Girl, blueroses...and Tiff, I've never "gotten" Numb. I know Claire loves it too, but (as much as I love Edge) that's definitely one of the few on my "I could live without hearing it live list)
3.) Favorite moment/song/etc from a concert you attended?
OMG, Tiff! I totally forgot about the epileptic ostrich!!! The picture of that with the girlfriend giving me the stink-eye in the corner of the frame is...PRICELESS!...My moment: the last concert on 11/21. Last minute, not crazily overpriced GA tix, scanned into the ellipse, 2nd row. Bono stood right in front of me for a good verse during Mysterious Ways, and I thught for a few seconds there that he was going to bring me up to join that illustrious group of chicks that we all hate: Bono's Dancing Girls. In hindsight, it's really just was well, as I collapsed in my living room trying to take my shoes off later that night, and I'd much rather my legs give out in front of Claire than 20,000 of my closest friends!
4.) Will the new leg starting in November be a cop-out carbon copy of the rest of the Vertigo Tour, or will they dust off some old gems? Predictions?
I'd like to think they'll really shake things up. Totally new setlist (other than the Bomb songs), but I kind of have my doubts. I definitely want One Tree Hill in New Zealand. I'd love to see some more totally random oldies like Seconds or something...more Pop maybe??
5.) What's the last concert you attended, U2 or other?
Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls at Jones Beach. Counting Crows were excellent, though I now really want to see them give a proper concert, not a double bill. GGD were ok, better than I thought, but hated the fact that the bass player (whatever the hell his name is) sang about half the songs!
6.) What do we think of Bono's Pop-inspired new 'do?
I'll have to find a link...loved me some Pop Bono, but I don't think it works so much any more.
7.) Adam supposedly got married or was supposed to be getting married to "Susi" sometime soon-ish. Do you believe this, or do you believe that Adam is really a big ol' queen who's still coming to terms with his unrequited love of Bono (I think we know how I feel about this!)?
Blueroses, Susi is this mystery woman who Adam has supposedly been with for ages, though I've yet to see a picture of her. Even as private as Larry is about his personal life, I've still seen Anne at like the Oscars, etc. You missed the whole discussion, blue, but Tiff and I firmly believe that Adam has a thing for Bono and it's killing him!
8.) Miracle Drug or OotS?
OotS...why did I even put this question in?!?!
9.) Is Edge indeed a Spaceman from the Future, and if so, do we believe him that it truly is better?
Damned if I know, but I still can't believe Bono snagged that girl two people to the right of me with her "I'm from the future too, and it is better" sign to dance with him during With or Without You!
9b.) What "Miracle Drug" do you believe Bono was on when he came up with this nonsense on 10/14/05??
I like Pat's answer!
10.) Snakes on a Plane, yay or nay??
YAY!!!
1. What are you doing this summer? What have you been doing for the summer so far? What are your plans in the fall and winter?
Same old, same old. Work is undergoing some changes that I thought I'd despise, but I've been pleasantly surprised and like them a lot so far. It's only been two weeks so it's a small sample size - but a bonus that I haven't wanted to go postal on anyone yet.
The fall and winter promise to be similar. Being the working adult with a "normal" job, the different seasons don't mean much.
In my free time I've been working on different projects. Learning musicals that I should know, reading more, transferring the footwear off tape onto the comp. etc.
2. Seen any good shows and movies lately?
Not particularly. I watched "V for Vendetta" a couple of nights ago. I liked it quite a bit actually. I've watched the DVD of "Sunday in the Park with George" a couple of times in the last week.
As for shows, I finally saw a stage production of "Tick, Tick...Boom" here in LA with Wilson Cruz and a couple of lesser known actors. For the most part, I didn't care for it that much at all.
3. What have been the newest song additions to your iPod/iPod-like device?
I just added several cast recordings: SITPWG (London), The Wedding Singer, Bernarda Alba, Tarzan.
In non-theatre music I think the most recent additions have been KT Tunstall and Regina Spektor's latest album.
4. Any travel plans?
New York for Labor Day weekend to see the closing performance of Sweeney. I may work another show or two in there as well.
New York for the week of Thanksgiving for what is becoming my "annual" trip.
5. Love life?
Wonderful as always.
6. Apartment situation?
Same apartment. Likely staying put here for at least another year or two.
7. Will I see you in NY in December???
Only if you take a picture with you.

HA! Love it! lol. He must really envy Ali. And thank you for the welcome.
Didn't The Edge marry a supermodel or something?
