Yeah, I get in late on Thursday and fly out early on Friday.
The main reason for the trip in Sweeney.
I'm also going to catch Christopher Hanke in Rent and at least one of Inishmore and [title of show] if not both.
We'll be back in November, but all of that stuff will be gone before then. :)
In terms of non-theatre, I figure I'll spend some of the day on Friday at the park.
I hope you didn't think my name was Caroline...
No, I realize that it's likely from Caroline, or Change.
However - I think the fact that it started with Caroline just automatically said "female" to me.
I don't think we've ever really chatted 1 on 1, so it was just a not paying close attention reading type thing I guess.
Again, I hope you aren't offended.
Sounds like fun, Pat! I hope you have better weather than last time...oh wait, was it so bad all week in November? I remember it was hellish all week when Tiff was here in October, and I remember it drizzling on my GA day and rainging pretty hard on Claire's? Well, that was at least two crappy days. Hopefully it'll be lovely this time around!
Yeah, it was rainy in November last year. March was lovely though.
It was COLD in November last year. That's what I remember.
Yes. That first night I ventured out in just a blazer. Not wise.
Well, it didn't help that you were coming from warm weather in NZ, I'd imagine, Claire! Or Pat coming from what I'd imagine would be significantly nicer California weather too, for that matter! It was really cold in November. I definitely didn't wear warm enough clothes for the line (it was a hell of a lot colder than it was the year before when I spent the day out in line all day to see U2!)...Wow! I can't believe fall's right around the corner. It'll be our two year anniversary! All together now: Awwwwww!!!!
That October week was HELLISH. HELLISH, I tell you. Sunny the day I landed. Sunny the day I departed. Pissing rain and windy every day in between. (How many umbrellas did I go through?)
Then again, if not for the sh!tty weather, Nic and I wouldn't have had that thrilling experience of stumping from the Sullivan Theatre to Columbus Circle to Serendipity 3's in the pitch black and the pouring rain, and that turned out to be one of our best nights!
(Though I do think we could have had some fun without getting wet, no? Ohh...the double-entendres...)
Two words: Coach. Bag.
I f*cking love that bag still. And the Prada one. Just out of sentimental value.
Aww Nic, tell me you'll be in NY in December!!
who's gunna be in NYC this december?
CQ is... that's who. :-P
I SH*T you not, Coach hunting and our drippy walk to Serendipity (seriously who's idea was it to walk from 49th and 8th to, what, 72nd and 3rd?!?!?) were some of the most fun I've had in ages! On paper, it sounds seriously hellish (and in a way, I suppose it was) but come on! That was good times there, my friend!
I seriously hope I'm going to be in the city in December! A lot of it has to do with what happens on the job/apartment hunt. Assuming by December that I'm back in the city (if I'm not, I think I'll be in need of some serious therapy and anti-depressants) and assuming my roommate goes home (wherever that may be) for Christmas and my folks come to NY, then I'll be here.
Even though my family's not huge on celebrating the holidays, considering it's a time when we'll all be on vacation, I'd imagine I'll either go home or have them come here (I'd rather it be the latter, even if you weren't going to be coming, because I've never been in New York for Christmas).
CQ, my underaged online lovah, is going to be in the Big Apple in December??
(seriously who's idea was it to walk from 49th and 8th to, what, 72nd and 3rd?!?!?)
I squarely blame that on you. I was thisclose to taking the leering limo driver up on his offer!
If you do go home over Christmas, when would you leave? I'll be in town from the 20th to the 26th so might we meet up at some point?
I'm also hoping to be in Disneyland in October, Vegas in December or February (December might be kind of accidental...I haven't exactly told the parents about the New York plans yet and they're literally planning a Vegas-for-Christmas trip as I'm typing this) and Asia in the summer - maybe we can meet in Cambodia?
Oh, I'd say I'll definitely be there at the beginning end of that. I thought you were going to be here through New Year's? Coming later and staying later? Guess I just imagined that. Anyway, no matter. I'll surely be here at least the first couple days, so YAY!!!
Speaking of meeting in Cambodia. I'm up for an internship (read training period with a job guaranteed at the end) for Broadway Asia. I have my fingers crossed, not only to get it, but if I get it that there'll eventually be some travel involved. How great would that be?!?!?
Tiff, if you do hit Disneyland in October, let me know!
Nic, the Broadway Asia gig sounds fabulous! Best of luck on that.
From December 25. IT'll be a party.
Wow, Broadway Asia - exciting! Keep us posted!
Stephen, I'll definitely let you know if I end up hitting Disneyland in October (if I do, I'll be arriving on 10/6 late at night and leaving 10/9 - my birthday! - in the evening).
I'll be in the NYC vacinity around Christmas (thanks for asking, Tiff). But I suppose I'm too cool for you to hang out with. *sticks nose in air*
Nic, be sure to keep us updated on your job prospects! The Broadway Asia one sounds really interesting to me.
My classes start tomorrow; ugh. I'm settled into my apartment, which two of my apartmentmates beautifully decorated and stocked before I got here, and it's lovely, so that's good. If only I could live here and not have to worry about stupid stuff like school!
I'm sure I've jinxed it by telling y'all about it (I'm paranoid like that). It does sound like an interesting gig (incorporating a lot of different areas of theatre production and development...very hands on). Plus, in my little fantasy world, I can't help but scheme that working in international theatre would be a step towards someday getting my dream job working for National Theatre New York in some capacity. I don't even know if they really employ people, or if Bob Boyett who generally produces the shows they bring in from London works out of some other production company or what. But yeah, I think I would die if I could get in there some day. A transatlantic theatre job. *sigh*

*ahem*
August 8, 2006:
Okay, now a questionnaire for you guys!
[snip]
7. Will I see you in NY in December???
*crickets*
Soooo...Niiiiiiiic, I'll see YOU there, riiiiiight?
So will you be living in Asia then, Nic? Where will you be? We'll TOTALLY meet up when I go next summer!
Claire, I so excited for you and your apartment! It sounds nice to have had it all kind of "broken in" when you got there!
Tiff, I'll 99.9% be in the city at least the first couple of days that you'll be in New York. So YAY! Hopefully we can all get together at some point!
And, no, I wouldn't be living in Asia. Though, I definitely would have my fingers crossed that at some point, I might get to travel over to see one of the shows or something. It would seem a damn shame to be working for Broadway Asia and not even get to take a trip to Asia!
Nic, seriously, if you think you can take a few weeks off next summer (June/July/August-ish) and want to travel through Asia, I'm looking for someone to travel with!
*Ahem*
Taken from the questionnaire that I answered (that you never did, btw):
"7. Will I see you in NY in December???
Yes! I'll definitely be around, so hopefully you're not too busy and we'll actually get to meet!"
