Are these high quality boots? Are they a size 8w? Do I get to hold the boots to my ears as well?
BTW, I'm in Disneyland next month for Columbus Day weekend - anyone else in SoCal???
Pas moi, Tiff, though Disney sounds like good fun!
Oh, and since there appears to be such high demand, assuming I find a sale on said boots, I'll be sure to pick some up for everyone and get them shipped out (or handed off) in due time. Let's face it...I've been holding onto stuff for Tiff for almost a year. Let's just say, I'll give you everything in December! Speaking of boots, even though it was probably a bit warm for them, I wish I'd worn them to Inishmore a couple of weeks ago! But alas, I forgot all about them until I was already in the car and halfway to the city. As nice as it would have been to've had some spiffy duds to make that trip to Inishmore all the more memorable (almost like you'd be able to relive it over and over again) there was just no turning back. Dammit!
How do you wear your boots to Inishmore? I didn't realize you were so...stylish! Have you worn your boots before or do you normally just buy them?
I must admit, I'm really not particularly stylish at all. My boots are really old, actually kind of ratty, I'd say (though, I do decide to wear them from time to time. Sometimes to a play, but really, they tend to be more in vogue for musicals, actually). Now my friend, she's got some seriously quality boots. They're new and very chiq! I think she should wear them whenever she goes to a show, frankly, and I really wish I could borrow them from time to time. I've got a couple of outfits they'd go smashingly with (particularly the one I wore to Inishmore! And what I'm planning on wearing to the last History Boys. Alas, now that I'm thinking of it, I think she's actually borrowed her boots, so I don't think they'd get passed along to a third party.
Outfits???
Oh, I don't know! My boots are just more amenable to musicals than plays (outfits not withstanding).
Ahh...got it.
Do you tend to dress discreetly or a bit more over the top? How expensive is your clothing? When did you get them?? When I was in NY with you??
OK, I think we've officially moved onto different pages. Haha! Or have we?!? Oh, I give up.
I was so lost by "outfits".
This is getting waaay too confusing! Nic, just update us when you have info on the boots your friend wore to Sweeney.
Yeah, I know...I think I was stretching it a bit much those last couple posts!
I will definitely keep y'all posted though!
Where did (sm)Ellie go?? She reappeared and now seems to have deserted us again! And there's U2 news that she'll probably be thrilled about!
"U2 is working on material for its next studio album with producer Rick Rubin, according to the band's Web site. The group has been at work on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2004's "How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" since last month. While in the studio, U2 will be joined by Green Day to record a cover of Scottish punk band the Skids' "The Saints Are Coming."
Proceeds from the track will benefit Music Rising, an instrument replacement fund co-founded by U2 guitarist the Edge last summer in the wake of Hurricane Katrina."
Yeah, what gives, Ellie?!?! Did she decide she just couldn't deal with getting roped back in??
I saw that on interference this evening. Sounds interesting! And it's exciting to see that they're back in the studio working on a new album too. I hope they get a little more daring this go around. I love the Bomb, but listening to the outtakes/alternative versions that came with my Brooklyn Bridge CD, I feel like if they weren't so wrapped up with being "the biggest band in the world" they'd be better off.
Bump!
Unfortunately there's not much U2 news to talk about. But we have to keep this thread going, so here's a question:
What do you think the setlists will be like on the next leg of this never-ending tour? Similar to the last leg? Will they throw One Tree Hill in there for Auckland?
They'd better play One Tree Hill, dammit! I'm still up in the air about what the setlists will be like. Sometimes I get all excited about the possibility of them having a COMPLETELY revamped setlist, and then I get yanked back to reality and figure odds are they'll probably look a hell of a lot like legs 1-3. Though, really, I think they shook things up more than people on interference gave them credit for. Sure a lot of the setlist was the same, but I think I had at least 1, usually 2 different songs at every show I went to (and there were still songs that they played on Vertigo that I didn't hear).
I honestly think I'll be satisfied (as much as I can be when I'm not going to any of the shows) as long as they play One Tree Hill at one of those NZ shows! I'll just be excited to have a high quality boot with it on it. I think I would have died if they snippeted it at the end of One like they did at that show in Oakland...Aaaahhhh!!!
BUMP again. Just because I feel like it.
I suppose I'll add something U2-related to the thread. It's U2 and Green Day crossing Abbey Road.
I'm excited to hear their cover of The Saints are Coming. It means I'll have to watch Monday Night football, though.
Who's in your avatar, Claire?
And OMG, U2 and GD together on Abbey Road. I think I just creamed a smidge!!
And I'm SURE they'll do "One Tree Hill" in Auckland - they did in the first leg they did there, right??
Maria Sharapova is in my avatar (tennis player, the pic is right after she won the U.S. Open).
What first leg they did there? Which tour?
ETA: They've played One Tree Hill twice in Auckland, both times during the Lovetown tour. November 10th and 11th, 1989 (don't ask me why I decided to go search for that at 1:15am on a Sunday morning).

Hey guys! Speaking of U2 and Green Day, check out the link on u2log:
U2 and Green Day
Bono looks snazzy!
I hope that guy got his picture taken with U2 members as well, or at least tried.
I popped on interference after U2log and they had some little article about Bono's bitching and moaning at Fashion Week. Sounded like he must have been hitting the sauce a little bit!
New York, September 12-15, 2006 – “Thank you very much for coming. I’m here as Ali’s bitch”, Bono told the crowd at the launch party for the One t-shirt, made by Edun, his clothing line with wife Ali Hewson. The U2 frontman was a bit tired; he’d gotten off a plane and come directly to the Hudson Hotel for the Friday night bash, and was, in fact, the evening’s speaker, giving up the stage briefly to Columbia University economist Jeffrey Sachs, and to Irish singer Damien Rice, who told the crowd, “Tonight, I’m Bono’s bitch.” Rice’s declaration that the evening was “One special moment in this great, great city of noise” was prophetic.
Annoyed at the chattering during Rice’s performance, Bono momentarily lost his cool, and told the fashion crowd to “Take your f--ing finger food and f--k off” if they couldn't quiet down. He immediately regained his composure and continued with his speech, while the guests went on gabbing, apparently unaware that they’d just been told off by a rock star.
Yeah, I read that yesterday, it was funny!
Have y'all seen this video? It's "A Day in the life of The Edge: A Film by Bono." It's pretty funny.

Tomorrow (Monday) night is U2 and Green Day's Superdome performance! Hooray!
I saw that it was up on u2log, but I haven't had a chance to watch it (with the laptop in the living room, with TV on, etc...need to watch it if I wake up early in the morning or something).
I remember when they were filming it (wasn't Edge exercising on the beach at some point?). I can't wait to watch it though! It looked like it could be pretty amusing.
Well, there's a part where Edge does yoga on his balcony (which I think is hilarious), and then in part 2 he chases a "pavarotti" (it sounds like that's what they call paparazzi) on the beach. And Bono tries to get him to swim out into the ocean to a boat, but he doesn't.
There's a great snippet of them playing and singing "In a Little While" on the beach w/ Edge using the lifeguard's guitar; I think that's my favorite part.
