Ideas for ou high school show next year....

We just finished an AMAZING run of "Urinetown" this weekend....but us kids left that aren't graduating this year are curious to what show we could be doing....
Here have been the shows they've done in the past 4 years:

Urinetown
Into the Woods
Seussical the Musical
Once Upon a Mattress

Our director usually always picks shows based on upper classmen talent and we have two senior boys (one baritone- fantastic dancer) (on tenor- think Chip Zien type of voice) and a senior girl who is very young sounding (She was Little Sally in Urinetown....enough said)
Then there's me, I'm the only soprano with a range w/ strong belt in the music department

what do you think we could do? post ideas! Our director needs suggestions!

Not "Guys and Dolls"
They going to be starting a run of that show in the next town over. Plus, they did that show a few years back. And she's not into the whole idea of the Hot Box dancers, ya know?

I was thinking "Funny Girl"? She does want an older show next year because of the more recent ones we've done.

anyone have any other suggestions? they don't have to fit the exact criteria listed, they just can't be those shows they've done in the past years.

I'm a junior, and our senior year season was just announced. We do three-five shows a year (1 play, and 2-4 musicals).

Just to give you an idea, my school's past musicals within the last three years have been:
- Grease
- Beauty and the Beast
- A Funny Thing...Forum
- You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
- Little Shop of Horrors
- Into the Woods
- Weird Romance

And next years shows are:
- miXer: A New Musical (Student Production)
- Mack and Mabel
- All That He Was
- Last Five Years (Student Production)

So, if you didn't get any ideas from that, here are some other recommendations (they are both for large, flashy shows as well as smaller shows):
- Weird Romance (Seriously, it's AMAZING)
- City of Angels (Good choice, depending on ensemble talent)
- Closer Than Ever (2 guys, 2 girls)
- Convenience
- Do Patent Leather Show's Really Shine Up?
- The Goodbye Girl
- Grease
- I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (good choice)
- Little Shop of Horrors
- My Favorite Year
- Oklahoma
- Parade
- Runaways
- See What I Wanna See
- Snoopy
- Songs for a New World
- The Spitfire Grill ( This too would be a really good choice for the vocal types you've listed)
- Violet

oooo interesting....
I'm definitely going to have to look into some of those since I haven't heard a whole lot from the shows, but thank you! I appreciate it!

more suggestions are always open!

ooo wow.....that's a good idea...I never thought of that...

but I don't know if our ensemble is strong enough to pull off those crazy parts. And we'd have to find someone to play Dickon....we don't really have any other tenors except for one.

but yeah, that's a really good idea! thanks!

We have a similar problem at our school, in fact we hae no male singers, and only a handful of male actors.

To solve this problem, we didn't do a musical last year, we did a play with songs, called "Oh! What a lovely war".

Very good show, with a mix of happy cheerful stuff, and a look at the dark horrors of war...

All in all great fun.
