It's nice to see the media finally holding Christie accountable for something. Poverty in NJ is at a record high under Christie. NJ has one of the highest unemployment rates and slowest job growth in the country. More people are leaving the State than any other. But you would never know it because the media loves to see him yell at teachers.
Looks like this one is going to stick.

Posted: 1/9/14 at 8:53amChristie's biggest concern is that he can't count on the propagandists at Fox 'News' to have his back. For most Republicans, they'd rev up the machine and break out the sound bites. But now, they're as eager as any Dem to eliminate him from the 2016 race and clear the way for a true believer.

It finally makes sense after Jon Stewart explained it.

It'd be very entertaining to be in Christie's office right now, as the terms of Taking The Fall are negotiated.
Christie may be down, but he's not out yet. He'll come back slugging, blaming every victim in sight.
Never underestimate the evil of the Republican Party.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter.

"But Christie's supporters will most likely pat him on the back for screwing a city led by a Democrat mayor."
Not so sure about that. A lot of Christie supporters in NJ are democrats. Christie effectively sold the lie that he could cut through the partisan BS and work across the isle. That's a big part of why he got reelected. Now that's all come crashing down.
I don't think many NJ voters will be happy about the Gov taking commuters hostage because he was mad at the mayor of Fort Lee.

I like pronouncing his name "Chris Christ-y," as though you're reacting to the taste of a communion wafer:
"Mmm! That's so Christ-y!"

Madbrian for the win.
Conservative Republicans were afraid they were going to have accept him if he gathered steam before the Iowa caucus.
Now they have a reason to campaign against him.
This scandal is not about Democrats liking or disliking him. It's about his ability to win the primaries and caucuses leading up to the Republican convention.
He has no support from Congressional Republicans because he has denigrated them. Now he has no support from the conservative wing.
Who will vote for him in Iowa and South Carolina?

I know some libertarians who were cheering Christie when he bullied teachers at town hall meetings.
Rand Paul sure does hate him though.
I think "they are the children of Buono voters" will be the Christie administration's "47%" moment.

Can anyone imagine this man navigating foreign policy? Seriously?
This scandal, which will no doubt be written off by the media as a "prank" is just garnish.

"Can anyone imagine this man navigating foreign policy? Seriously?"
Enough people could imagine Mitt Romney doing so to get him the GOP nomination. Stupidity and boorishness are the GOP Default Position.
The thing I really can't imagine is Christie surviving the first six weeks of his Presidency without suffering a major stroke. His health just can't be discounted here -- the man is obese.

Until this broke, I was thinking he was the GOP's only real shot at the White House against Hillary. Call me crazy, but I think the party is finally learning, post-Palin and post-Romney, that they can’t win by making their broadest appeal to the far right. Those people are casting votes against Obama/Hillary/etc, no matter what.
Who else do they have in the offing? I mean with a serious chance.

That certainly fits with the story about Mitt Romney not picking him as VP because they dug up too much crap when the vetted him.

What people may not be mentioning is that smart people do not put anything in writing (eg email, text message) that can return to bite you. IF this is merely what was written...what was not written and said in person or on phone calls? Do we start requesting that the phone calls of our elected officials be recorded and transcribed too?
Whatever happened to "the buck stops here"?

Almost at noon during the press conference Christie says... "I am enormous..."

It's like watching a kid who got busted by their parents for something try to explain to them that this is the first time they've ever done it and they're so so sorry and if you want to ground me for a week I would totally understand it because I was a bad kid and totally deserve it and I want you to know that I love you and I hope you don't hate me because I was a bad kid.
