I went through the drive through at my local KCF, and I was informed that to use my debit card, I had to withdrawal cash through their ATM system AND pay the $1.50 service fee for it, otherwise, they couldn’t accept my debit card.
I called the corporate office and they said some franchises have chosen to do this.
I told them I wouldn’t be going to any more KFC’s if this is how they ripped people off.
Has this happened to anyone else?
KFC is not 21 so whenever I go in I use the old fashioned method - CASH.
I don't care about KFC, I'm just glad you're back!

I confess- I asked the KFC in your neighborhood to do that to you in the hopes that you'd be pissed enough to come back and post.
KFC has been ripping people off for years... by marketing their product as "food".
Is it the same policy with credit cards, or just debit cards?
My friend paid me back using Paypal. They deducted $3.75 from the amount I received because she used a credit card. That annoyed me. Wouldn't it make more sense to charge the SENDER for their use of a credit card? It was fine in the situation with my friend, but what happens if that happens in an Ebay transaction? The seller doesn't get their full sale price because the buyer chose to use a credit card? Now that is a stupid policy.
Thanks for noticing I was gone, guys...
But, the ONLY other businesses that ask for a service fee ae Mom and Pop shops. I get it with them, but KFC is a national chain. Why are they asking me to withdrawl extra cash just so they can get the service fee?
TD,
It is funny you bring this up. I went on Monday to the one on Sunset near Fairfax. Not the drive thru .. they did the same thing to me.
Did you pull out enough for your 420?
Have you been following me?
Don't Bogart...
Never. I am never that selfish.
The Colonel would NOT be pleased with this.
I thought you were gonna complain about something else. When I went there on sunday, the portion of their chicken strips were so small, and only 2 came with the meal, i was rather upset about this, but hey its cheep good food.
I would simply tell them I'm not paying extra for using a different payment method and walk out. I have a VERY low tolerance for being ripped off and I often can't help but to create a scene in public if someone tries to pull it on me.
Yeah.... but what if your hungry? What if like Diva you have the munchies ?
Eat at Popeye's, girl.
They always give me an extra chicken strip...thanks to the Obama button!
I got a Colonel's strips combo the other day and I didn't get my biscuit. What a rip-off indeed.
They used to give you 2 sides & 2 pieces. Now it is 1 side
In Manhattan, the prices are ridiculous. You can buy the 10 pieces in Queens for what they charge for 2 pieces & 1 side in Manhattan.

KFC is the closest and Popey's doesn't have a drive thru...

Be careful about this. Not only does KFC charge you, but your bank might as well. If KFC used it like a ATM, you most likely will get charged by your bank.
Please check with your bank.
KFC doesn't want to pay credit card fees so they only accept debit cards.

So do they accept NO credit or debit whatsoever in the checkout? If that's the case, I think I kind of have to come down on their side. It sucks that you'd have to pay the ATM fee to get cash, but you could just remember for next time and plan ahead.
It's the places that charge you extra to actually use your card in the transaction that gall me. Yeah, yeah, I know they "can't" do that, but they do all right. Oh, how they do.
PRS, you should report companies that do that to Visa and MasterCard. It's a violation of the agreement they signed that allows them to accept cards in that network.
If they accept Amex only, it's a slightly different story, but not many businesses go that route.

Oh, I know, but we got a "no squealin'" policy in my hood, you know?
