An amusing way to spend a couple of hours on a cruddy Sunday afternoon. Some tasty moments, most especially from Daniel Craig alone in a car belting out a Broadway classic.

Count me in amongst those who loved it. It was a much slower burn than the previews and commercials play it up to be (I was honestly expecting a lot more madcap almost Clue like comedy), but I found it all the more compelling for not just being a Clue knockoff.

I saw this yesterday and enjoyed it tremendously.
This thread is the second time I've seen a reference to Clue. The other place I saw it even said that Knives Out owed a debt of "gratitude" to Clue. That's ridiculous. It owes a debt of gratitude to Agatha Christie, as does the film Clue and the board game.
There is also a subtle homage to Sleuth in Knives Out.

It was the opening of a thread on the main page 2 weeks ago.
I really had a great time at this film! Old fashioned, but not too much, clever without taking itself too seriously. Fun day at the movies!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I mentioned the moment, but left out the specific reference because I didn't want to spoil the film's real highlight.

I might be the only person who didn't like this movie. I was honestly bored out of my mind. I kept having to fight the urge to take out my phone so I'd have something to do, and that's something that hardly ever happens to me. I thought the script was uninspired - everything was telegraphed and predictable, and the great cast was wasted because they were given nothing to do. Johnson's directing was pretty unremarkable as well. But I've never been much of a fan of his.

I really liked this movie. The sly "in-jokes" the meta celebrity references the call outs to other whodunits and even the plot puzzle.
Unfortunately, I am a nurse and my strong familiarity with the drugs in question ( a key plot point) caused me to shake my head "no" too many times for me to really enter with,y'know "willing suspension of disbelief."
I saw there was an R.N as an advisor and can only presume whatever she told them was ignored in order for the plot to progress. I had a similar experience in a film in TO and was specifically told " don't tell the actress too much as she will insist on doing it that way and it will slow production down". I knew they were getting a Medical expert the next day and decided to let him deal w the inconsistencies. Which were, of course,ignored.
Still full marks for the dug-in political discussions and rich entitlement.

Such a fun movie! I had a great time watching it. The style of the film reminded me of several Spanish comedies (La Comunidad, aka "Common Wealth", immediately springs to mind). I'll definitely be watching it again.
I did think about making out with Daniel Craig a few times.
Oh, I thought about more than that. I had a entire porn anthology series based on several different characters he's played looping through my mind.

With the single exception of "the Murder of Roger Ackroyd" in which Christie played " a bit "loose with the then convention of the narrator being the audience stand in and therefore " reliable" ( sic) . I have figured out the perpetrator in all of the "cozy" style murder mysteries I read. To me more than half the goal is HOW they r going to get there as much as finding the actual WHOdunit. Hell when I usta read Perry Mason's I could figure it out from the list of dramatis personae .
This film had so many other little tidbits( see my previous post) and as such it was just pure fun.
I can forgive a lot w such tight plotting ( if flawed)and wonderful dialogue and creative set dec..
Really? The name of the security guard was Proofroc ! I mean !!!

Oh I completely agree that "how" is better than the "who" but I guessed the the culprit in like the first 20 minutes and even started to second guess myself because I thought it couldn't be that obvious lol. I was, however, shocked at the BIG reveal during the explanation of how it was done. I still loved this movie though just for the characters.

Yeah, while I enjoyed it, my issue was that it was entirely too predictable. The culprit was too obvious from the get go, and all of those clues that would be fun to catch on the rewatch just stuck out to me on the first watch. In the sleight of hand of it all, they wanted us to be watching the right hand and I just happened to be watching the left hand.

Found it enjoyable . Did anyone else envision Kevin Spacey in the Craig role. At times Craig sounded like him
