With the exception of one date when she had to cancel day-of due to a knee injury, cancelled dates are announced days or most often weeks ahead of time. It’s almost always at the beginning of a sit-down in a new city so it appears it has to do with the time it takes to move the production elements to the next city and retrofit them to the new theatre. Just my guess. I will say that I know she received a lot of money upfront for signing that all inclusive deal with Live Nation, but I don’t think they’ve managed her marketing or concert tours well.
And yes, some people on here have losttheir minds when a star is out at a performance they’re attending. I’ve been a little disappointed, but then I saw some awesome understudies that many people didn’t get to see.
As far at M’s lateness, it’s established by now. It’s like having a friend who is always late for everything. You either deal with it and accept it, unfriend them, or quit inviting them to do things with you.
Personally, I enjoy the long lead up to the show. Gives me time to let my excitement build, hit the merch table, get a cocktail or two and talk to fellow fans. When I saw her on October 3, I made friends with one guy from Ecuador, another 19 y.o. guy from China who is attending New School in NYC, and finally met an IG friend who flew in from Ireland to see her three different nights at BAM. Her music truly does bring people together to paraphrase her own song as corny as that might sound.
If her lateness is an issue for some or many, I totally understand. No one is forcing them to buy tickets. It’s well established by now across multiple tours over decades. So it’s not a surprise. I’m still hoping to see her again before the tour goes to Europe.
Dude, my post wasn't directed at you and you don't need to respond with a long defense of her every time someone is critical of her. I realize she has an important place in your life. That's great and I'm happy that her music has helped you get thru some rough times. But she's been on the road touring for over 30 years. How long it takes to break down her set, move it to the next town and set it up again as I said should have long since been figured out. Other performers have just as complicated sets and they manage to figure it out. Why can't she? And she's not a friend, she's a professional entertainer and fans are paying a crapton of money to see her perform. Maybe she should consider even if you're putting on a great show, it's not cool to send people home at almost 2 in the morning especially on a weeknight where people have to get up and go to work the next day. Excusing it with well that's just who she is- you should be used to it by now, is just BS. And yeah, lots of people plan trips more than a few days in advance and many hotel rates and airfares are non refundable and extremely costly to reschedule, so yeah, this is really costing some people a lot of money. You can.make all the excuses for her you want. I realize in your eyes she can do no wrong but for me at least, I just find this extremely inconsiderate of her fans and very unprofessional.
